Given the huge number of Florida CAGs on this board now, it seems like a good time to start pooling our knowledge to make the most of our time (and gas!).

I'll get things started...I'll try to keep this updated as new info is posted. If you have any info on Florida stores that you'd like to share, please post it here!

Best Buy
Altamonte Springs (SR 436): still some $10 games as of 9/13; no Y's or Paper Mario [mgreig]
Gainesville (Archer Road): limited stock, bad customer service [Msia]
Lakeland: Layout is strange, but they tend to keep stock during sales. Individual checkout lanes. [kojubat]
Melbourne: unorganized staff [Msia]
Miami (Pembroke Pines): Generally has nothing in stock unless you are lucky and people there don't knw what they are doing. [s3v3n777]
Miami (Hialeah): This is a pretty decent store. One of the original BB in Miami and still has a great selection and relatively good customer service. [s3v3n777]

Orlando (Florida Mall): Decent selection, disinterested staff. [kojubat]
Orlando (West Colonial): Good selection, sale games are usually clearly marked and gathered during clearances. Helpful staff. [kojubat]

Yes, it's good news indeed. Although there are still going to be some heavy storms because of that damn cold front. Here's hoping that I don't get hit with some lightning, lol.

Yesterday at the Tampa Bay Comic Con a guy was selling some old games. Only could afford PS1 Guilty Gear ($15, Complete) but he also had

Illusion of Gaia - Complete
Earthbound Complete, never opened, w/guide - (I hope he brings this back to the next convention)
Chrono Trigger - Complete
Saga Frontier - Disc Only
Final Fantasy Chronicles - Complete, Black Label
Xenogears - Complete, Black Label

Some good games, I should've grabbed that Earthbound, but Guilty Gear is also very rare.

Do you remember how much the Earthbound was? I'm just curious. That would've been a sweet pickup.

Just want to give an update for the Gainesville/Ocala area as a dedicated cag deal finder since 2003 ;)

(Hoarders and Scalpers) Gainesville is full of people using Deal sites, and more so to scalp, ( I once saw a lady take 2 shoping carts of games out of circuity city!) So the non-game only stores I suggest to hit early. Fortunately the people that I have met from CAG have been nice and have been willing to work together. So like the ebmorning thread, hit early and be considerate of your fellow cag'r. I personally don't mind picking up extra copies of a game for someone here as I usually can visit places early morning.

Best Buy [Msia] is correct, Stock of games rarely has anything decent, even when deals break and im there for the early morning grabs nothing. Either college community just clears their stock normally, or employees pick up deals. 5-10 dollar B and C titles can be found.

Circuit City, Good deals can be found, as CC is a little out of the way. Employees are generally nice and during clearance times the games are usually already sorted out. You need to be early as there is competition with people from Fatwallet and other deal sites.

EBGames, Nice employees except for the Girl Manager. I have seen many rare ps1 games here and has a good incoming stock of games.

Gamestop, Some good deals [during b2 g1, or credit days], but like the website, usually their games are usually higher priced. The chance of picking up some rare games is lower than EB/Rhino

Rhino [Archer], Decent chance to find rare games, their games use to be extremely cheap until they got smart of ebay pricing :(. Now games are near or more ebay prices, they have a b2g1 free policy but it too has been changed to a game up to 14.99

Rhino [13th st, the ghetto one] Worth checking as most (mainstream gamers) dont go here, in addition more of their customers get low balled on their trades so finding a copy of suikoden 2 etc is more likley.

TRU. Titles are there, if you can hit the sales early. The main game guy in the game section, is very helpful, nice, and a little "fruity." He will take the time to check prices for you.

Target, Poor selection of games, clearance titles often still scan for 29.99-49.99. I have only picked up a few games cheap here in the past 3 years. Good Raincheck policy last time i checked.

Waldo Flea Market, this place sucks, usually there are 2 people that are always selling "rare" games at jacked up prices. High ratio of finding games that smell like smoke, have water damage, bugs, roaches, that poor smell, imo not worth the time.

Pawn Shops. Only two decent ones,
University Pawn on sw 16th, this place somehow gets "sealed" games and other items which can be missing the serial #. Good to check for a deal, or if you had something stolen.

Sleezy Rich, don't remember the name, this guy has his pawnshop near Gold's Gym on university, and has been having Y2k sales commercials for 5 years. He also gets some dirty merchandise in.

---------------------
Ocala TRU/BB/CC/Target I have scored tons of good deals at these places, I would say because usually their customers are a different age group compared to the college pop of gainesville. Because of gas, prices etc. I would suggest only trying if you can get there early and plan to spend a decent amount.

Pawnshops. Usually decent and sometimes can find rare things. I picked up a boxed tg-16 and have found many other good items on my visits.

Keep that Ocala Best Buy, TRU, and Gamerush under wraps. These are the best place for penny guides, and rare games that stick around forever. I'm still getting a "free" game at that best buy with the $5 off coupon when I roll through on my way to Tally.

As for the price of Earthbound, I didn't ask. Illusion of Gaia was $30 so I was thinking around that range. I didn't have the money but I think he'll be at the next convention in May.

Theeternal, if you're looking for better flea markets in Ocala, try the Market of Marion or the Ocala Super Flea Market. There are better and more DVD deals to be found in those two than games, but you may get lucky.

For anyone looking for a 360 in Tampa, dont bother goin to the Citrus Park Best Buy, Circuit City, FYE, EB; Northdale Sams Club, or Northdale Walmart. I got bored and drove around a bit and all these places had huge lines outside their doors. There were 10 ppl at best buy at 11am this morning.

Im still gonna try Ritz Camera & Radio Shack just out of morbid curiosity, lol. But if i dont find anything, at least i still have my Gamestop pre-order that should come in hopefully sometime before April.

Anyone in Tampa see the picture of the 89 year old man who waited outside overnight to get a 360? I think it was in the St. Pete Times Metro section now thats a gamer! Anyways I am trying to compile a Black Friday list for pawn shops for Black Friday. Post up if you know of any others, I should hit a few more myself tomorrow.

[quote name='Legolas813']I've never even heard of a store named Rhino. I looked up the locations though and there's one by here on Colonial. Maybe I'll check it out sometime.[/QUOTE]

That Rhino on Colonial is great. REALLY nice people and they usually give you like $10 more for trade-in versus EB or Gamestop. Also, they have a deal that if you trade in 2 games worth over $10 in credit, you can get a brand new game (up to $50) for free. Yes, awesome deal.

If only U-turning weren't such a pain, I'd stop by there more often.

Yeah, making that U-turn at the Wal-mart certainly does suck. Unfortunately I have over $300 in store credit there, so I have to buy stuff there. I am patiently awaiting the day they finally get more 360s in, especially since it is the only place I can buy it due to the store credit.

gamerush in orlando chickasaw and curryford is very nice, very orginized and some great employees that enjoy small talk and helping the customer rather than pushing something on them

Yes, the manager for GameRush, Justin, is a very cool dude. He'll go through great lengths to service you. They're my #1 stop for games.

Copying this from the KB Toys in the Deals forum...just so everyone sees it...

Well, the sale isn't happening at the Daytona KB, but the manager there gave me several interesting details on the sale in general...
- The current B1G1 sale will go on until Dec 24th, as previously mentioned.
- Only the bigger KB stores will continue to carry video games. For Central Florida, the only store that will carry them in the new year will be the one in the Florida Mall in Orlando (not sure if this includes the Tampa area or not). All other stores will either have their games shipped to one of the bigger stores (if they have a lot of remaining stock), or will be clearancing all of their games (if their stock is small enough).
- There will be another clearance sale in January, to clear out additional stock. This will apparently be similar to the earlier open-box sales ($1, $2, $5 games, etc), but will include an additional round of titles...possibly all titles for stores that are trying to get rid of their stock. The manager at Daytona said that all video game stock needs to be either sold or moved by February, which he said is KB's end of fiscal year.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, but the manager I spoke with seemed quite knowledgable. He knew all about the sale, which stores were doing it, and why.

the Block Buster on Bird Road and 107th Ave. in Miami are getting rid of alot of their old games. Many don't have the original case or even a cover, but their only 10 bones. I was able to pick up Mario Tennis there for that price. I don't remember the other stuff, but for 10 bucks, I'd go check it out.

Wow, that deal sounds almost too good to be true. I am guessing those 2 games count toward the 'free' game, so it isn't really free. Still a pretty good deal if you happen to be trading in 2 games that are worth less than $50.

anyone heard/seen if the KB in Jax or Orange Park is running this sale, I called the Regency KB over the weekend and the person on the phone didnt know what I was talking about...

Not sure, but if you find out, please post your info here. I'd love to know whether it's worth the trip up there to check out those stores (about 80 miles for me from Deltona). :)

The KB at regency had the 1,5,10 sale so I am assuming that it would be a good posibility that there may be a sale on now. Will confirm after work

[quote name='soulwish2003']KB Toys in Melbourne started the buy 1 get 1 free video game deal this morning... nice DS, PSP, GBA titles in stock!!![/QUOTE]

That's the one that is in the Melbourne Square Mall right?

i hope you're right about this. i was a day late to the last clearance but still managed to get some nice finds. one of the better sales of 2005 for sure.

In Tallahassee, check your Good Wills (theres like 7 of them).

At the three stopped at (2 of which had games) I got

Wandereres from Ys III, cart only (SNES)
Amazing Spider-Man, Case no Manual (Sega CD)
Adventures of Batman and Robin, Complete (Sega CD)
Super Smash Bros. Melee, case, no manual (NGC)

for $3 a piece. The Sega CD games aren't worth much but very hard to come by (especially Spider-Man). The Melee (which I already own so its getting sold or becoming a Xmas gift) was a unbelievable find considering that its been out for 3 1/2 years and still retails at $30 (I never see copies of this game at a pawn shop, I see rare games more often).

Has anyone checked the KB in Altamonte Springs? Haven't read any reports of whether they're doing the B1G1 or not...but their video game stock has been so low lately, it wouldn't surprise me if they were one of the stores participating.

Tampa Pawn shop finds (12/9-10)

Yoshi's Story Cart only (N64) - $4
Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance Complete (PS2) - $6
Frequency Complete (PS2) - $2
Various Sega CD games - .50 cents

There are definitely some good games in the Tampa pawn shop loop. Check it out. Onimusha Blade Warriors is at CC on Bruce B. Downs. I bleieve its $5.

[quote name='BirdofTruth']Hi guys I live in Kissimmee is that ok for games?[/QUOTE]
That depends. :) I've been living in or near Kissimmee for over sixteen years.

Until recently, you had to go into Orange County if you wanted a gaming specialty store (i.e., not Target, Walmart, etc.). However, there is now a GameRush in BVL (in the Sabor/Publix shopping center), and they just opened an EB in front of the new Target on 192 near 535. Otherwise, the EB in Hunter's Creek up in the Target shopping center at OBT and the Greenway has been there a little while.

So, depending on where in Kissimmee you are, you might have some closer options than you may have realised.

If you're referring to pawn shops, though, I really don't know. I usually have my kids with me, and I'm not too keen on taking them into one.

I checked out the sale at KB over at the Regency Mall the day after the news broke on the message board. They indeed had the sale going on but needless to say they had crap left.

I work right there at Target so I usually check out any deals over at Regency on my lunch break.

yesterday in the westpalm beach best buy i saw 2 360s in stock one $300 and anther $400 one if i had the money i would of pick one up

People in Tampa check you Blockbusters. I randomly walked into one today and they had a number of PSOne games. I picked up

Sim City 2000
X-Men Academy 1

They are $2 a piece. Only new ones are this price (this was posted over a month ago but there still around).
Also Blockbuster is selling Project Snowblind for $6.99 (before 25% discount), not a bad price for a well reviewed game.

I currently work at one of those Gamerush stores mentioned. We do get a bunch of somewhat rare games, but it's all luck as to whether you will ever find them.

We get quite a few customers that know what they are looking for as far as rare games go. Usually the next day they are gone. I remember this one guy traded in Wild Arms and Vagrant Story, near perfect condition. I don't consider them ultra rare, but those games were bought instantly the next day.

Another example was this couple who sold their entire NES game stock. The collection was insane. Super Mario 1-3, Megaman 1-6, Castlevania 1-3. What was great was the manager of the store grabbed them and stashed them in the back to buy later. I don't think our manager even plays games.

We seldom get Genesis/SNES stuff and when we do I usually grab them. Stuff like Chakan, Mutant League Football I bought complete with box and booklets. Recently I bought Super Ghouls N Ghosts and Tecmo Bowl. Most 16-bit era games and all NES games sell for $.99 now so it's a steal.

Most people tend to trade old sports games and garbage game sequels as far as PSOne stuff goes. I have people always asking me for Suikoden 2 :(. It just won't happen.

My advice is to ask the employees for games you are looking for. Sometimes we will know exactly where they are if we have the title you are looking for, especially if it was me who stocked it. Granted not all of us who work there know about games, but if you happen to ask me and a few others you'll get an answer. Now is the time to start looking as well since a lot of people are getting desperate for store credit to buy their X360s (such as the people who sold their NES games).

Please stop trading in your N64s :(. We have so many N64s that construction of virtually any object you can think of is possible.

There are 2 sales going on now. 25% off all used games and all new games $39.99 (excludes X360 games). Both are to end the first week of January unless otherwise stated by the company.

Someone trade in Rez for PS2.

[quote name='Hot Like Wasabi']We got eight 360's last night. Didn't take long for those to sell thats for sure. Anyone else in the Jacksonville area?[/QUOTE]
I'm in Orange Park for winter break... (360's where?)

Target (Regency). Unfortunatly, calling first thing in the morning doesn't help seeing as lately there are people waiting outside the store before it opens to check for 360's every morning.

Kotaku's reporting a secret third Xbox shipment at Best Buy this week. [ http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/home-consoles/gift-leak-proves-more-360s-hit-this-week-144124.php ] They're supposed to sell them the day after they recieve the shipment (whenever that occurs, though Kotaku's saying the 22nd). I didn't end up camping for Sunday's shipment due to the storm, but the hunt's feeling cold anyway, so I think I'll just hit TRU Thursday morning (haven't checked yet to see if there's still anything good left, though).

[quote name='Hot Like Wasabi']Regency[/QUOTE]

Hmmm, unless you had 7 friends/family I don't know how you got 8. I was in that line on that stormy night and it was specifically one to a customer. but if you got 8 more power to you....liar :) IKIK
