50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:

The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.




Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

Justice League Heroes plays close to the same way as the Marvel games (X-Men Legends 1 & 2/Ultimate Alliance) but is also a little different on how the power ups work.

I only played the demo of Superman Returns and it isn't all that good. But I didn't think that highly of the movie either.

Yes (unless it is a franchise store), and most employees won't know anything about this sale right now.
 
This sounds great...too bad there is no game rush stores on the east coast(from what I know) ...I have a $25 blockbuster GC that has been sitting around for over a year now!

From the price drop list, yes. I doubt too many stores have actually repriced the games themselves as that would require printing or writing out custom tags for each game. The stickers that they generally use all end in .99.
 
I was ready to go out and saw nothing on the GR thread and was very disappointed - then I realized there was a new one :rofl:.

Oh well, I'm going out now... Wish me luck...

They got FFIV and V no problem, but FFVI is nowhere to be found. So it's looking like preorders are useless, which means new game orders are likely coming to an end. Time to wipe out my remaining credit with clearance games.

I suppose if they continue to get big releases through the summer I'll be able to find games to flip to cover those.

Looks to be this way. All the games I purchased ended in $X.98. They all rang up for 50% off.

All the games in the 50% sale at my local GR were on a separate table and marked. I didn't see any used games for sale or discount.
 
Just got back with my haul. Went to 2 GR's, the one I had the games held at and another. They had Hitman plus the PS2 game there. Prices are after discount.

yeah but it seems as though a lot of these drops are on the September drop list. That would mean some pretty good prices on DS games, not to mention the other systems.

There seems to not be very many cube games on the list, but this may be because these stores just don't have many cube games in stock. Since the lists are based on the On-hand amounts in store, the proportion of one system to another on the list is related to the store's actual on-shelf product mix. Neither store I visited had many cube games left at all.

Also, this means that there could theoretically be games that are on sale that don't appear on the list for a given store due to an inventory error.

Two thoughts

- 1. Trade in prices at GR seem to have gone in the toilet. I had 4 more games to trade in today and their trade-in amounts were a joke. Guess I will take them to the Mom n' Pop. I think the days of the legendary trade-in amounts are officially over.

- 2. When I went to pick up the four games I had held from yesterday at store #1, the guy came out with only 3. Dead Rising was missing. I pointed this out (I was going to be mad since DR was my most wanted off the list). He went back to the counter and there was a Dead Rising there with some other joker's name on it. Luckily for me, the guy pulled off the note on it and said "Sorry , you should've come by earlier." and sold it to me. I'm not sure if he did the right thing or not, but at least I got DR. (Kinda feel sorry for the other guy, though, unless he got my DR somehow).
 
i have to admit i am having a hard time being overwhelmed with these prices, they seem very meh at least for the 360 games i might be interested in (dr, sc, tw)

They pretty much had the same games for PSP at my store as well (in Canton, Ohio), though they also had a few sports games on sale including NHL 07 and NBA 06, both $15 after the 50% off....they aren't bad prices...but I already had them...

Also, they had Grandia III for $15 (after 50% off)...a great price...just too bad I bought it for $20 two weeks ago...
 
NHL 07 was the PSP version, $15 after the 50% off. I would have bought it, but I played it not too long ago and didn't really like it.. I didn't check the xbox 360 games...but they did have NHL07 for the PS2 for $17.99 before sale I believe...so maybe they have it on sale on X360..
 
God.. Does anyone know if Dead or Alive 4 or Tomb Raider for xbox360 is also on sale?? I've been waiting to pick them up cheap!

I'm pretty sure they're NOT 50% off since my GR had both of these games in stock and they weren't on the store's clearance listing. Sorry.
 
Not a lot at either of the two Gamerush's I visited... I went for mostly Loco Roco, some 360 games, and some high profile PS2 games with which to flip to make my money back.

Ended up with just Loco Roco and Fatal Frame 3, which isn't TOO bad... they had the cases for Tales of the Abyss and N3 but neither were in the store. I know this is true because the guy showed me the 50% off list for his store and those two games weren't on it meaning they were OOS when he printed the list that morning.

Well they had Grandia III at my store on the table of games that were being clearanced off with "Sale" stickers on them,....so it was either for sale for the 50% there, possibly a different percentage off, or possibly priced wrong...unless different stores are putting certain games on sale. It was the only copy of Grandia III in the store...and it has been there for a while...so maybe they are just trying to push it for a sale...

I love the demo and still play it occasionally. That's usually a good sign for me. If I like the demo enough to have it occupy part of my precious 20GB of space for a long time, then I would guess the game is worth it to me. Same thing with Dead Rising, and I still play both of the Lost Planet demos some. I will wait for LP to come down to $30 before I bite, though. That's my next-gen limit. (It was $20 last gen).

Anyway, why don't you DL the demo and try it out. It's the best way to see if you will like it.
 
Actually, Im looking at my list, and its not a sale list, its a "Retail Games Reprice Report". The changes went to effect yesterday while everyone was at Best Buy, and it says "Reprice no later than end of day on Wednesday 2/28".

99% of the games are repriced odd - I mean why reprice Guitar Hero II to $49.42? Maybe this list is just to get games to qualify? Looking at my receipt, the game rings up sale (the new price) then a "coupon" is added to get half off, but he didn't scan any barcodes.

I guess Grandia III already "qualified" for the sale without needing a reprice

My Loco Roco was something like $29.32 before they took the 50% off.
 
Guys, I just scored Dead rising (360) and Loco roco PSP for 50% off.
I went to the Game rush, and I asked about the sale and no one knew about it.
I asked the guy if he could give me a price check before he made the transaction.
He just pointed at the tag on the Dead rising game which said $59.99 and told me “that’s the price”
Pretty much he was an a-hole to me.

So he made the transaction for the 2 games and they came 50% off.
The 2 employees at the counter were amazed when they saw the price on the register.
I left so happy with a grin on my face.

Thanks to whoever posted this sale. You rock!!!
