50% Off Sale

Edit: It looks as though more games are being added to the 50% off list on 3/25/07. Here's what jaybsooner is reporting:

The prices will be listed on the price drop reports as 1 cent drops making the game prices end in .98. The 50% will be automatically deducted when the employee hits the Total button. It's very unlikely that there is any signage or changes in prices actually displayed at the stores yet.

Okay, details are still rolling in and we don't have a full list yet, but we're getting there.

FAQ (Read before you ask a question.)

Q: Are used games included?
A: No, this is only for new games.

Q: Is this sale going on at normal Blockbusters?
A: Yes, as long as it is not a franchise Blockbuster. Most Blockbusters are not franchise locations. Call your local store and ask if they are a corporate or a franchise store if you are unsure or check a past receipt to see if it says "Blockbuster Franchisee".

Q: The games are scanning at full price, is this sale for real?
A: You won't get the discount until the employee hits "Total" on the register.

Q: Do Blockbuster gift cards work at Gamerush?
A: Yes.

Q: Is this going on nationwide?
A: Yes, but see details on franchise locations above.

Q: My blockbuster employees say they don't know anything about the sale, is this sale real or happening in my area?
A: It's a good thing that they don't know and see above franchise locations information.

System Watch:

Some GameRushes have PS3's on their incoming shipping reports as arriving on Tuesday, December 5th. One of the local stores that actually received Wii's will receive 1 (One) PS3 ($600 Version) tomorrow. No firm reports on when the next shipment of Wii's will arrive.

Random News:

In a really strange turn of events, GameRush actually pulled a lot of PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube games from Previously Played status and put them back up on the wall to rent. There are still plenty of used games for sale, but I thought this was an interesting move on Blockbuster's part.




Random Tip
FIFA 2007 for the Xbox 360 is currently listed at $40 new ($60 everywhere else). If you pre-order it and pay for it in full now, you should be able to pick it up when it releases and save yourself $20.

The reprices went into effect yesterday, but the computers weren't updated with the 50% off code until today. And if Grandia III isn't showing up on that list, I have my doubts that it truly is part of the sale (but I'm hoping it is).
 
I picked up Lego Star Wars 2 (360) for 25+tax. I found that the GameRush employees were clueless to this sale, as well.

I've been told you have to have the disc. Which is why I returned it in the past. Although at $15 it might be worth it. Although I already have Outpost.
 
has anybody confirmed whether or not Blockbuster has this same sale going on? I've only heard about Gamerush so far but the thread says gamerush/blockbuster. PLEASE INFORM US :D

One store near me stopped carrying DS games...the other one had about 10 times more new DS games than Xbox 360, GBA, and Gamecube combined. It really depends on the location. I'm still waiting for them to clearance the first Castlevania DS game as I know of a store that still has 5 of them in their case.

It should be. And the workers usually don't know what is on sale. They told me it was 59.99 and I said sure I'll take it. They ring it up for 60.91 (why more than 59.99 I don't know) then it takes 50% off so minus 30.46. :)

I want Shadow Hearts and Tales of the Abyss and can't get out there until after class.
 
Just got back from my main GR and here's what I got:

The employees there had no clue and just kept telling me that's the price. Even ringing it up he kept saying "Yep full price". Then I said "hit total", and whatya know. He was very quiet after that. I asked the manager if they had a list I could look at and she said I would just have to bring them games and have them scanned, that there wasn't a list. Sucks cause most of the games I am interested in are locked up in the cases. I bet some of the older 360 games like Kameo and Perfect Dark are clearanced.

Anyway, I am going to another GR after work to see what I can find. :)
 
I stopped at GameRush on my way home.

I only picked up EA Replay.

I was tempted with a few 360 games, but passed:
- XBLA Disc (but I don't want the hassle of the disc, so I passed...already had Texas Holdem anyways)
- N3 (one store had about 6 copies out...but I played and found it rather boring) I can pick up to trade if anyone has anything to offer.
- Just Cause (Had a $34.99 sticker on it, so maybe $17.50 but I passed as I don't really have time for another sandbox game.)
- NCAA 07 (10 copies at one store...wow...I already own though)
- Hitman (passed for $20 right now)

I basically was tempted, but thought...am I REALLY going to play all these games right now. So, I saved my credit for something newer I guess. Tiger Woods 07 is still a possibility though....although, I barely played 06 when I got it.
 
any cags in ftw area the bb/gr on beach st off of 121 has alot of stuff in stock. picked up chibi robo, we love katamari and soul caliber 2 for 26 bucks total. saw alot of psp, xbox/360, ds and even some gba games.
 
Both of my Gamerush/BB didn't have an $xx.98 stickers on any of the games that people have said that were part of the deal. I know that both of them are corporate stores.

So WTF?

Lots of GR's will not even know about this sale, let alone reprice all of them. If they are on the list in the OP you have a 99% chance of them coming up the right price AFTER THEY HIT TOTAL at the register.

sorry hotw they had alot of new games in stock. some on the list and some not. one guy in store knew about the sale others didn't. i looked at the ds games but none of the sale items. i know i saw loco roco there so i might go back for a friend of mine.
 
I saw at my GR that Lego Star Wars II and Dead Rising were in the cases, not clearenced. I knew they were supposed to be on sale but I didn't know if computer rang it up half off or what.

So should i go and get it and it will ring up half off?

talked to the manager at my GR and he pointed out that they had a list and basically just stuck clearance stickers on the titles that are 50% off. Lots of people are still oblivious about the sale and I had a woman come up to me and asked why I had a hand full of titles.

Anywhoo, going to another GR I'll report if there are more that are not on the list post in the OP.
 
I guess there are some good deals there but most of these games could be found at these prices already.

I'd probably buy a fwe of these games but gameznflix keeps my new game supply up. That service saves me $40 a month in stupid new game purchases.

Things have definitely changed with CAG/other sites and these sales. First there was the wildfire spread of the Best Buy clearance on the Internet. Now, though I was the first to get into GR today about 1 hour after opening, I went to lunch and came back and in between two people had bought hundreds of dollars worth of stuff. During the last GR clearance I was the only one in there the first day or two. Last time some guy came down from Vancouver, WA and cleared them out a few days later. I expect him to show up any time now.

Like the utter dumbass that I am, I forgot my bigger ($200) value card so I set a bunch of stuff aside and need to go back and get it later. I just want to burn my last $200 and be done with it so I'm heading back in a bit.

I am looking for Ratchet Deadlocked if anyone wants to trade something. I'm grabbing a bunch of stuff but PM me in the next hour or so if there's anything specific you want to trade for!

SOCOM CA for $20 (kinda good)

Oh, I was able to return my Enchanted Arms I bought 2 weeks ago and repurchase. However, they were a bit devious with that one as they had reduced it to $39.99 before (when I bought it). What they did was raise it BACK up to $59.99 and then make it half off. So I ended up saving $10, anyway - just not as good as I hoped. I'm bringing back the MGS3 Subsistence I bought 2 days ago and getting $15 back for that, hopefully, later.

This kicks all kinds of ass over the Best Buy sale IF you have GR credit from cheap trade-in games. That makes this essentially a 75% off sale - but where they actually have crap in stock, unlike most of the Best Buy games.

Again, I am looking for Ratchet Deadlocked - if anyone wants anything for it, PM me immediately because stuff will go fast at my store, I fear... Plus I'm heading back out there in about an hour or two.
 
I browsed the PS2 section at GR for about 5 minutes, until I realized that all the new and used games were mixed together... yeah, gave up at that point.

At my store the manager was pulling everything (after I gave him back his list ;)) and they will all be on a table by the front by the time I get back there. Thus my need to hurry ;)

Anarchy - basically, assume they are 50% off MSRP if no price is given. It is just that on some of the older ones, they might be a bit cheaper.

Alright, just got back from hitting 3 different Blockbuster/Gamerush stores in Fresno, CA.

First one, at Champlain and Perrin had no new games at all - but all used Xbox games were Buy 2, Get 1 Free. This is a Blockbuster only store (not Gamerush). Neither of the Gamerush stores were having the B2G1 sale, but did have clearance games (more on that below).

Second store, at First and Nees, had no clue about any sale and they called the manager to ask. Turns out, all the games had been pulled to the back the night before (or so they said, though I saw a few from the list still out on the shelves), and they were going to go back and resticker them and bring them out - said to return in a couple hours. They didn't have (or wouldn't show me) a printed list that I could look at - just said "come back later".

Third store, at First and Bullard, had pulled all the games aside and restickered them, but not yet put them out on the floor. They were happy to show me the list, though - and even let me pick through the piles of games on the cart.

Only thing I got that isn't on the OP's list is NFS:MW - Black Edition for Xbox, for $15 (after discount). They only had one copy.

Justice League Heroes for PS2 was half off ($15), but Justice League Heroes for Xbox was not on sale - though it was priced at $19.99 at one store and $29.99 at the other...

They did have several copies of Lego Star Wars II for 360, and at least one copy of Ninety-Nine Nights - and probably had over 100 clearance games in total, between the various systems.

It's funny because the price lists they have are only 1 penny less than the normal price (eg, $29.98) but of course they ring up 50% off after totalling (comes up as a "coupon"). So that means my GR DID HAVE the list on Sunday as they said they would - but the idiot working there then told me the games only dropped 1 penny so they weren't changing the tags. I was really really hoping as my last hurrah in the GR thread to have provided the list. Oh well... ;).

Anyway, I'm off and I'm gonna burn all the rest of my credit. Man, does this feel good!
 
Is Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction worth the $15? I'm tempted to bite because the reviews are good and the prospect of smashing stuff willy-nilly sounds great, but I'm probably too broke to justify it. :whistle2:(

That said...if you guys tell me it's worth it, I can probably find a bit of space in my budget. ;)

Hey a fellow CAG from Fresno!! I hit the First and Bullard store earlier and picked up Just Cause. They also had one copy of Hitman(360) in the "new games" cabinet if I'm not mistaken.
 
Looked through a few pages but couldn't find any confirmation that this sale is going on at BBs only aswell... So are normal BBs doing this aswell?

Absolutely worth it, I bought it for $10 from Amazon for XBOX, worth every penny.

IMO, this sale is a lot better than the Best Buy sale because the games are somewhat pretty decent and you have a MUCH better chance of finding what you want.

I just wish they would have put more good PSP games and some DS games on sale... I'm happy with a $14.99 Loco Roco though, VERY happy, the game so far is great!

I might hit up another GR to see if I can snag N3... I might even get EA Replay if I see it, for $10 it's hard to refuse. I don't really see anything else I want to pull the trigger on at just this moment, though, either that or the stuff that's a great price like Dead Rising I own :lol:

They also had GH2, SOCOM CA, and some 360 games (Enchanted Arms, N3, Hitman, Arcade Unplugged, Madden 07, SC:DA)

I noticed Lego Star Wars II and Dead Rising were suddenly on the previously played racks

No problem, and thanks for the reminder about Twilight Princess. I completely forgot about that one when I saw it on the list earlier today. Really weird how they raised the price of it to $60 and then took half off that.
 
Well, I missed out on the Best Buy deal, but hopefully I can get in on that. Off work in a half hour!

this is exactly what is wrong with this sale; i think all of the games i bought were repriced higher before the 50 percent markdown

i decided to get rid of my credit anyway as i bought for my 360

since it has been over a year without a really good trade deal and no new hardware on the horizon that i care about, it seemed time to get out of the game rush credit business
