I think it really depends on the employees (based on my experiences at FYE and GR). Some of them do all the paperwork in front of you, and some do it later. I'm sure the management would prefer that they do it all while the customer is there, so everything's nice and legal.

I have a regular guy at my closest GR, where I do most of my business, so all he takes from me nowadays while I'm there is my signature and thumb-print.

Heh... I bitched at EB about that since they had MP: H used (but they gave away the case, so I passed), and when trying to tell me to do my preorders there, I got them to give up when I mentioned I got Tetris ordered for around $15 cash.

Of course, the way it's going, preordering nothing for $15 isn't a very good deal.

I take it you checked on those two today?

This is retarded, all the games I am buying in the next few months are either on the PC, or games Gamerush won't get (Atelier Iris 2 comes to mind)... I'm stuck with $100 in credit =/

Maybe I'll just get a Gameboy Micro.

Well, what will really be sad and confusing is if Odama comes in on time next week and we still don't see any new DS games.

I think the only April release I know I want offhand is Lost Magic, and I'll be gambling with GR for that one too.

I only ask this here because I think people have done it a long time ago, but what's the safest way to sell a gift card, and how much should it go for? 90 cents on the dollar? And how are you sure the person you sell it to isn't going to turn around and claim it was an empty card?

Should I send a receipt with the remaining balance on it? Will Gamerush give you a printout of the remaining balance without buying anything?

Does Gamerush credit work at a regular Blockbuster?
 
Your best bet is probably buying prepaid cards, if they have them, and send them in with the original cardboard packaging.

I've never tried to sell a card, but I know you can get a printout of the card value. My last trade, the employee forgot to print it out (I like to keep them wrapped around the card). When I asked her, she had already completed the transaction. So she just had me slide the card in the reader again, and was able to print a receipt showing the value.

And credit is interchangable between the two, yes.
 
Thanks... I guess my best bet now would be to merge my $62 and my $40 card together, grab a $100 prepaid gift card, and throw it on Ebay for about $85 - $90.

I'll give GR until Friday to at least get in Tetris.
 
Anyone know how much they sell new/used consoles at GR? I might pick up another for a sibling if it isn't too much? What else to do with all this GR credit.
 
I was out last week (WrestleMania), and just called the nearest GR to finally pick up a couple Tetris DSes. I cannot freaking believe they never got it in. He's like, "I might get some tomorrow." I said they've been out for TWO WEEKS everywhere else. That's insane! I got a fat stack of games to trade in, too. I don't really want to go to EB and get raped, so I guess I'll just be patient.

Don't forget Disgaea 2 in August. 2 of the bigger RPG releases of the next few months (Atelier Iris 2 and Disgaea 2) will not be available at GR. As horrible as it sounds to me, I might actually have to put down a $50 preorder for Disgaea 2 at EB. Hopefully I can at least take part in this alleged preorder bonus thing I hear so much about :D. Of course, watch the market get flooded with Disgaea 2 and have it be $9.99 everywhere 4 months after release, with piles of the art book (or whatever the bonus might be) sitting there for the taking at every EB/GS. That is guaranteed to happen if I pay $50 for it.

I'm finally getting towards the end of my preorder list. It looks like April and May will serve up the following: Odama, and 3 DS games - Mage Knight, Lost Magic, and, ONCE THEY ADD IT TO THE SYSTEM, New Super Mario Bros. (What is the deal with the new Mario game?) Not a PS2 release in sight, very strange. Then I have the longer term preorders for FF XII, Zelda, Phantasy Star, and Okami (which looks like it got pushed to 3rd/4th quarter like those others).

Botticus - I noticed they had Harvest Moon Magical Melody in on time - so for whatever reason they are current with Gamecube releases but not DS. So it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Odama came in before Metroid/Tetris. It is just kind of embarassing when they have the big display boxes for Metroid and Tetris set up in the store and still have yet to get the game. So Nintendo is sending them these marketing materials but not the games?? Or is it a BB/GR distribution problem?

BB / Gamerush must have pissed Nintendo off somehow that they either aren't getting a shipment, or are getting a seriously delayed one. This is only Nintendo's fault if Nintendo wants it to be, so I think its somehow a Gamerush problem, that they must done something so bad that Nintendo has retaliated.

I do remember an article I linked awhile ago about Blockbuster demanded too much of a discount on games and pissed off some publishers, maybe they did that to Nintendo?

Harvest Moon isn't published by Nintendo, but rather by Natsume... isn't Odama published by Nintendo though? Will be interesting to see if that comes in on time.

What Gamerush needs to do is take down all the Tetris / Metroid stuff, and ESPICALLY taken down the damn "Preorder now for $5!!" boxes because it makes them look very unprofessional and sloppy.

I believe that article mentioned that they wanted the same discount as other game stores, when they buy a fraction of the volume as those other stores.

Eh, I never found any copies of Red Ninja locally. I thought about ordering a couple off Wal-Mart.com but didn't want to get stuck with them. Oh well, I cashed in on Geist, Echo Night, and that most recent one from Best Buy that only lasted a day.
 
The Gamefly/Gungriffon thing is a good idea. Best Buy also has a coupon book with a "Buy a 2 month subscription to Gamefly for $11.95 & get a free $10 gift card".

Roufuss, if you want to get rid of your credit, just buy some games/a system that sells for near retail value on ebay. If you'd like to make profit on your store credit, wait for the DS lite.

I just called GR. GunGriffon: Allied Strike is still $24. So the Gamefly deal from BB is probably worth trying. Does anyone know how long it takes Gamefly to ship?

I checked GS online, GunGriffon is $17.99 used.
