GameStop Game Days Sale
Online only: Use coupon code GD10 for an extra 10% off

(3/26-4/25)
Sale is for NEW GAMES/ACCESSORIES ONLY
Begins Friday March 26th and Ends April 25th

Please visit http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/
for the most up to date and accurate list, although if you are visiting before 3/26/10 the sale prices may not be updated yet.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS[hiddenlist]
Q. Why is Saw (360/PS3) $24.99 and not $19.99 like originally posted?
A. It seems the price was read wrong at first, or just assumed to be $19.99, as the accurate and final list has it listed for $24.99. The game is still garbage in my opinion, but is an easy 1000 Achievement Points / Platinum Trophy. I recommend renting it, or waiting for a lower price.

Q. WHERE IS THE 10% Game Day Sale Coupon????
A. The past few Game Day sales did have a 10% coupon inside the Game Informer magazines, However the current Game Informer (Portal 2 on the cover) that has the Game Day sale advertised DOES NOT have the coupon. No official word if a coupon will be given or exist at this time. Just keep checking the thread for updates from fellow CAGS. Perhaps it will be distributed in the next Game Informer (in April) or with the Weekly Coupon in the GameStop E-mails.

Q. Will the games be gutted? if so how do I get a SEALED copy?
A. Yes, stores always gut their games to put into the sale bin. YMMV on whether the store guts every copy, or just one of each copy of the game. Best advice, is to get their early on the first day in hopes they did not get around to getting all the copies yet. Some stores in my area seem to hate gutting multiple copies, and generally just gut one copy in general as a standard. Once again YMMV.

It's GameStop expect gutted copies, if anything try to price match with BestBuy since the prices will be posted online here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays10/

Q. Why does GameStop GUT their games?
A. I assume it is obviously to prevent theft since they are a small retail store (space wise), and not like BestBuy. It is not cost effective for a company that operates in small locations to use security detectors (more cost), so the GUT method works for them. Just politely ask for a sealed copy if they have it, or just say no thanks. Please don't complain in the threads. Shit gets old. I hate gutted copies just like the next guy, but it is nothing new, just move on.

Q. Are the games on sale NEW or USED?
A. All games/accessories on sale are NEW. If a Buy 2 Get 1 Free does occur during the Game Day sale then that will be for USED games only.

Q. Will the USED prices drop because the NEW ones are on sale?
A. Depends, typically when a NEW game is on a temporarily price drop, the USED copy will stay at its current price. So Assassins Creed 2 which is on sale for $29.99 NEW during the sale, may still have a USED price of $54.99. However, there are times when they will drop the USED price as well to reflect the NEW price drop.

Q.
Where is the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on Used Games?
A. As far as I recall, GameStop usually holds a B2G1 Free at the beginning and/or end of the Game Days sale. I just got this list from fellow CAGs Driftninja & arcurifisher, and just organized it. Although the other threads have not 100% confirmed it as of 3/25/10, I think it is pretty safe to say there will be a B2G1 sometime during this Game Day sale. Check back for updates.

Q. These games on sale are horrible, any chance of better games being added?
A. Yes, I agree a good portion of the games are horrible, I mean "My Baby First Steps" seriously?. GameStop is known to add / remove games during the Game Day sales, so yes some new titles could be added, but don't expect it to be anything great, but you never know, maybe this year...

Q. Why were there so many threads on this sale?
A. Not sure why since I didn't make them, but don't flame the thread creators because it is just people trying to contribute to the CAG community. Just be polite please, and hopefully we will have a single thread to follow during the sale.[/hiddenlist]

Yep, others beat me to the explanation. This happens a lot when Gamestop does a price job-- the day before, the actual search result reveals the new price before it actually takes effect.

So, hopefully there's better deals that I'm not seeing. Otherwise I'm just gonna maybe pick up Disgaea 3-- it has been a pretty boring Game Days this year, for me at least.

2 of the games I ordered dropped $5, but 1 is OOS online now, plus the discounts don't stack anymore, so nothing to whine about.

Hm. So far, these games will have a drop:

:360:
Afro Samurai - $7.99
BioShock - $10.99
Fuel - $9.99
Guitar Hero 5 w/ Guitar - $59.99
Popcap Arcade Hits Vol. 2 - $9.99
Saw - $19.99
Way of the Samurai 3 - $24.99

:ps3:
Disgaea 3 - $17.99
Guitar Hero 5 w/ Guitar - $59.99
Heavenly Sword - $24.99
Lair - $17.99
Saw - $17.99
Shaun White Snowboarding - $12.99
Sonic Unleashed - $12.99
Way of the Samurai 3 - $24.99

:ds:
Final Fantasy Tactic A2 - $10.99
Prince of Persia: The Fallen King - $8.99

:wii:
Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed - $9.99
Guitar Hero 5 w/ Guitar - $59.99
Resident Evil 4 - $9.99
Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles - $12.99
Sonic Unleashed - $12.99
The House of the Dead: Overkill - $12.99

:pc:
Fallout Trilogy - $7.99

Those are just some of the noteworthy titles. None of the better PSP games dropped, nor did Persona 4 on the PS2. Also note that those are the prices that can be seen on the site by either searching or clicking on some of them (the latter being the case for the GH5 bundles).
Does anyone know if Fallout Trilogy works on Win 7?

Does Diablo 2 work on Win 7?
I have heard it does but has some issues. However I think a new patch came out so it may be fixed.
No Sonic collection? Shouldve gotten it earlier.
Get it online while you can. It's still $14.99 new and $12.99 used (though only the 360 version is in stock used).
None of the better PSP games dropped, nor did Persona 4 on the PS2.
Persona 4 is down to $17.99 new, but the price won't show correct in the cart for any titles for me.

I think their site isn't fully updated yet. It comes up as $17.99 on the search results when you search for it, but if you actually click on the link to go to the page for the game, it still displays $19.99.

All of the prices I listed are simply just listings. They haven't taken full effect yet, with the exception of the Guitar Hero 5 bundles.

I find it hilarious Bayonetta isn't on this "final clearance", when at every Gamestop I went to they still had tons of copies in the bin for $39.99 (I imagine it was probably the same everywhere).

If they moved that to $20, there would have been a mad rush on them. But instead, back to $60, when they barely seemed to have moved at $40?

Theres no way they would drop Bayonetta as low as $20 this soon after release.

Except that if they did, they wouldn't be the first. There was a thread last week with P.C. Richard/The Wiz selling it (new) for $19.96 (sold out at this point, though). According to the tracking info, my copy should be arriving tomorrow. :D

Well I'm not claiming no one would, only that Gamestop wouldn't. Grats though, great deal if you're interested in it.

Thanks, hysterisch! Picked up BioShock for the 360 sealed for $11. I must look good for my age(23) because I got carded when I bought it.:lol::lol:

Too bad about Bayonetta, really did want to get it for $3X.00. Oh, well. I'm happy with BioShock.

Lol. I'm nearly 25 and get carded for anything that is possible to be carded for. It's pretty epic.

Dont worry guys, your not special. They card everyone if they are smart. Might as well be safe. I am 30 and get carded buying games all the time.

I've been carded ONCE, in my late 20's I think.

Honestly I forget games have different ratings-don't even pay attention to it. I just get what I like, and might be playing an M rated game and then E

Just went and got Bioshock. You guys should see the travesty that is my "new" copy. The only way it could be worse is if it had a black blockbuster case. Sadly it was the only new copy near me.

fucking gamestop. I might return it in 30 days on principle.

I knew that was the case. :3 Also, I think I just got the last Persona 4 online. I couldn't resist it at $17.99. :D

EDIT: Oh, just noticed something. For those who aren't using Gamestop credit and missed out on a title that got bumped back up in price, it seems like Barnes and Noble's website hasn't bumped them back up yet. For everything else, of course, they're cheaper on Gamestop's website now.

Return that shit. And yes. Do it on principle.

I called around looking for a non-GH version of Killzone 2, I found 1 store that had it. I asked if it was gutted, they said it was their last copy so yes.

I did not buy Killzone 2.

I dropped by a Gamestop today because it showed a Mass Effect 2 CE in stock. When he showed it to me it was gutted because it was their last (and of course only) copy. When I told him I wasn't going to buy it he said, "What, you're not going to buy it because of a little piece of tape? You are going to play it, right?" (I assume implying that I'm one of those nutball flippers?) It's a totally bizarre and paranoid rule, but it's even more bizarre to not make an exception for rare / out of print collector's items. Especially ones that have impossible to obtain anywhere else DLC codes in the box that they're opening (and that you can't test until you get home).

Did he actually say that to you? If he did, you should've kicked him square in the balls.

EDIT: Also never go back to that store.

I'm so sick of that open box thing. Don't they know everyone else gives a steep discount for doing that? Even then, I always go new.

I was willing to live with gutted. I know that's the price i pay for shopping at GS.

I asked for Bioshock new. The clerk got the disc out of the case, ran to the back, grabbed the pre-owned box I was just looking at, ripped off the pre-owned stickers, and rang me up as new.

I looked at the case and it looks like it went through a garbage disposal.

will be returning this on May 24th.

Wow.

Does anyone know if you ever get used if you buy new through the web site? So far everything I've gotten has been new, which means what I do is trade my stuff in in store, and then buy new off the website, which is free anyway and saves me gas. I don't tell the people in the store that though...they probably wonder why I never buy anything...

Erm, wait . . . so the guy sold you a pre-owned copy as "new" and you knew that he was doing it? And you didn't even examine it before agreeing?

Buying a gutted copy as new is one thing, I get that, but I don't get why you would have agreed to buy an actual pre-owned copy as new.

I think they're pretty much the same thing (well, sometimes, almost) but maybe he's like me and hates confronting them about it.

i made up my mind to pick up bioshock today and i figured "hmm new game in old case.." $10.99... whatever. It's $11.

But then i walked out of the mall and got pissed.

edit: i'm calling customer service. this is bullshit.

I've gotten a few games through the website that were obviously gutted/rewrapped because the plastic wrap clearly wasn't the original, but I'm pretty sure that they were "new" beyond that. My first copy of Darksiders had some minor scratches and fingerprints on it (probably from gutting), but I called them up and complained and they shipped me another (also rewrapped, but pristine) copy right away.

My theory, that I've stated a few times in the past, is that the gutted/rewrapped copies coming from the website are former store overstock that was returned to the warehouse because it didn't sell in the store. It's always seemed to happen with titles that were at least a couple of months old -- all of my pre-orders have been factory sealed.

The way that I look at it is that I only buy from GameStop when the deal is so good that I'm willing to accept a gutted copy as a trade-off. If I can do as well or even close to as well somewhere else, I go there first.

I cant believe they would gut a CE, I mean shit it says it right there "COLLECTORS EDITION", and I know there are collectors out there that keep their games sealed.

Why did you buy it then? You could have told him that you wanted a new copy or else said you'll just take it used. If you saw him ring it up as new you should have said something.

I can believe it.

On Demon's Souls release date, I realized I had to have it (late, I know). So I went to find the game starting first thing in the morning. First store I went to had the collector's edition, gutted with really wide white tape (almost like thin duct tape) all over it holding the stuff in the box. Why the fuck would you even open the thing only to tape it all back together? On release day no less? Some piece of shit employee wanted to rifle through all the extras, obviously.

I went to eight Gamestops that day until I found a store that had an unopened copy of the regular version. I wanted the collector's edition, but not bad enough to have a copy that looked like it just came out of a medical ward ran by a three year old.

new is cheaper than used for this game right now. And it's the only copy in the area.

I didn't realize how fucked up the case was until after i left.

@confoosious: Why don't you try price-matching it at a Best Buy or a Wal Mart when it goes live on the GameStop website?

Only problem is that you can't use any of the usual coupon codes since they only apply at GS/EB.com, thus kinda killing some of the deals due to shipping costs (there isn't even any free shipping on orders above $25). You're better off just buying the used copies on GS' site.

Why not? Blu-rays nearly scratch proof or is it just the principle of the thing?

Principle.

If the seal has been broken and that disc has been handled by anyone else BEFORE I buy it, that shit isn't new anymore.

It'd be like if someone on this site tried to sell another user a "new" game but when the buyer received the game, it was opened. Wouldn't you be pissed if you were the buyer?
