Just noticed the Game days sale ad in the latest game informer. Last year's sale was pretty decent so its worth a thread. I'll try to post the ad and coupon later. Best part is the coupon doesn't say anything about being void if copied. No specifics yet on the sale.

I went all the way out to the Mall where gamestop.com said both stores had Brave Story and a few others. Then I realized I left the coupon on my desk :bomb:. They wouldn't budge at either store on giving me the discount - not the best Customer Service as they lost out on about $50 of sales for games they seem to have plenty of. On the flip side, they had gutted every single copy of every Game Day sales game they had, so they were all stickered and gross and I would have been hesitant even with the coupon. So screw 'em ;). Though perhaps if I'm in the area again I'll check it out.

And it isn't just me (or other CAGs) that don't like this. I saw a couple bring up Brave Story and ask if they had any "real" copies and declined to purchase it when told they only had the opened ones. Why they hell can't they just put ONE copy out like that and keep the rest sealed? It would make the game display a bit nicer too - who needs to see 5 or 6 cases for one game?

Forgive me if this has been discussed ad nauseum in this thread - I haven't been reading along ;).
 
Hey I just noticed that Tekken 5 is now on the list of PS2 stuff for $9.99 in the gamers day ad online... When did they add that since it's not on the master list here?

Wonder if they added more stuff to other systems.
 
I managed to pick up a sealed copy of Tekken 5, even if it's the Greatest Hits version for $9.99 this morning. I was looking for a sealed copy of Timeshift, but no luck yet. The Gamestop I went to was attached to a mall so it's been picked. No copies of Katamari Damacy, but it looks like everything else was there. Same w/ the UMDs, I only picked up Mirrormask and Godzilla Final Wars since I already bought everything previously when they had the sales a year ago! Can't go wrong w/ $4.99 UMDs!!!!

I have. IMO, it's pretty solid as far as a DS Horror title goes. The biggest problem is that, when you die, you restart the chapter from the beginning and lose all of your progress. Not so fun when you just reached the boss after an hour+ of play and then die.

Thanks for the info on the signs, though it is still not quite confirmation, especially universal confirmation.

Dementium is an okay horror game and a poor shooter (but not bad for the DS) and a fantastic engine demo. If you like old-school FPS gameplay (like Wolfenstein-level old-school - some of the bosses are almost exactly like Wolfenstein bosses) and think it could use some horror atmosphere and fairly obscure puzzles then you'll like it.

Godfather is a poor GTA clone but a fantastic action game with great motion control and precision shooting. Blackhand Edition is the definitive version of The Godfather simply because the Wii controls make the action much more fun and satisfying.

Just shut it off right before you die and turn it back on. You'll start from the last room you entered since the game autosaves every time you go through a door.

The B2G1 Free signage mentioned earlier in the thread just came in the marketing. It was a "hold for future use" thing. They sent it now since they finished the new "look" for the signs.

Needless to say - not confirmed. It's still possible for sometime before the sale ends, but nothing definite.

Thanks for the insights -- I have been on the fence with this one, and as much as I love FPS and survival horror, I think my DS money will have to wait for it to hit that magic $9.99 price, so that I can spend my money on other games for now.

Keep in mind I mean compared to shooters today on modern systems. It's good for a DS shooter, but there isn't much competition there.
 
The B2G1 Free signs are for future use. They are new ones that match the new black/red color scheme that GameStop has been implementing, as well as the Power to the Players tagline. No official word has been given about starting B2G1 Free, but last year, we did it during the final week of GameDays. I'm assuming the same this year.

So I went to GS yesterday and got Katamari and Brave Story. I haven't played Brave Story yet. Did play KD and I've got to say I'm a little underwhelmed, thought it may just be that I was spoiled playing the updated We
 
so far all ive picked up is juiced 2 for the psp, and i would deffinitely reccomend it for 9.99$, its not the greatest game ever but its the perfect mindless diversion that a psp game should be at times...

Any other worthwhile games for $10, is blitz psp really that bad?

Also, is BF2:MC, not even a good deal at this point considering bad company is almost out?
 
Noticed that our GS's received replenishments for the $4.99 UMD's...not much of the GameDays stuff have sold it seems. Thought that after the first day, the stores would be wiped out but a few times now, not many people really looking through those bins. The UMD's are the ones that seem to be selling very quickly...

I have noticed the same thing at the four stores I frequent. Then again, a few of them still had a number of sealed games behind the counter, so the bins might be getting replenished everyday.
 
Elizabeth, NJ Gamestop in Broad St. had opened copies of Condemned 2 for Playstation 3... was going to buy it but as soon as i saw that it would not be sealed like advertised, i did not buy anything. Pffft.
 
My last issue of Game Informer had the coupon so i'm going to try to get Odin Sphere when i pick up my MGS 4 pre-order :O Hope they got it in stockkkkkkkk.

They actually fixed* that in the UK version -- it has multiple checkpoints. So, if you're really serious about playing it, you may want to import it, though the price may not be worth it.

*It hasn't been released in the UK yet, should be released in July, apparently.
 
What's the consensus on Street Fighter Alpha Max for PSP? My PSP has been collecting dust lately and this game at this price seems perfect. Most of the reviews I have read were positive, except for the controls, can anyone offer some opinons?

It's well worth the $$. I do have to agree about the controls because the system is so small. But for all the features that the game does have to offer it overlooks it and a must get. What would make it better is if it had online gameplay.

Can somebody give me a word on Monster Hunter 2? I'm contemplating on getting it and can't make a choice. Does it have online play and is it worth it? I've check gamespot and see mixed reviews there. I've never game in the series. And from what I'm hearing none of the new games are sealed, am I correct? I'm thinking of getting TimeShift and MH2.

YMMV, although the vast majority of games are gutted. Some (rare) stores have kept the games sealed or at least some copies. Only one of the six games I bought was sealed.

Edge Card is only useful when buying USED items from Gamestop. There is a coupon in the latest GameInformer (I'm assuming if you have the Edge card you are receiving these magazines), it has Guitar Hero on the front. The coupon is for 10% off anything you buy from the Game Days Sale, some stores are being nice enough to use the coupon straight out of the magazines in their store if you ask.
 
I wonder if I should order Timeshift and MH2 online and then I'll get them sealed. But @ the same time I don't want to pay shipping fees and there's a GS literally right beside my college within walking distance.
 
Maybe you should call them first if they have it? My GS only had two copies of Timeshift and both were gutted. So I left them there.

I enjoyed it. My friend who is also hardcore got one but he tends to insist that fighting games on the PSP using a nub doesn't work for him.

For me, I dig it. I think SF Alpha is one of the few games that I own multiple copies of for many consoles.
 
Anyone know when this sale ends? Am opting to trade in my almost finished Brave Story (meh) that I just picked up two days ago... am guessing the its value will go back up? Or is this wishful thinking?
 
My god my Gamestop seriously hasn't gotten rid of ANY of their Gameday games.

Seriously when I was in there last Monday they had 4 copies of Monster Hunter 2, I went in today...4 copies of Monster Hunter 2. And it's not just that, all of the games that I saw and noticed how many copies were available last Monday still had the same amount today. So I'm holding off on buying anything until later just in case they decide to take an additional amount off.
 
I can't believe this is still going on. Some good prices, yes, but nothing fantastic.

Just a word of warning to those thinking about buying Condemned 2 for the ps3, there is a audio "popping noise" bug that's apparently common in hdmi connection users. Made the game unplayable for me. There's a patch that was just released in Europe, but for unknown reasons hasn't reached America.
I wonder if there is any way Gamestop will let me exchange for 360 version, or even trade credit....

Yeah. My thought exactly. I used my lunch hour to drive to the store on the day the sale started and they gutted all the copies. Even with the 10% off coupon in hand, I didn't budge. To me, they are not new if they ain't sealed. I rather forget the 10% off and order online in order to get sealed ones. Speaking of that, I better place an order this weekend or soon after.

Just an update - I decided to call around a bit after I posted that and found a store with a sealed Brave Story (and Nervous Brickdown to boot). They even accepted my coupon. Then I asked if they had a sealed Odin Sphere and they did - but at that the point the manager came over and told me they shouldn't have accepted my coupon in the first place as it wasn't from the magazine. Note that this is the same manager that rejected one of the 10% off coupons several months back because he said I had already used it, when in fact I hadn't. I always avoid his store but the sealed copy made me venture in - I had forgotten about him in the mean time. Oh well, at least I got the first two games at a discount. Then at another store I did buy a gutted copy of Worms 2 because that is just an extra so my son and I can play multi-card - so no big deal on that. I can pay $8.99 in GS credit for an opened "new" DS game ;).

If I'm feeling particularly devious later this week, maybe I'll being some of the crap from Blockbuster that I plan to trade in and dump it on him. There's no coupon to reject in that $10 extra for 2 games deal (though I could see him being a douche and refusing to scan my Edge card).
