Last night, I grabbed the Call of Juarez bundle on discount with the emailed code. Got all 3 games for $4.72. I'm hoping that they play nice with my mini PC because seeing what actually works with a stable frame rate is half the fun.

Games bought on GoG will be cloud playable via Amazon Luna:

This is honestly pretty huge, Luna works really well (I've been playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla recently using it) and this is yet another value added service from GoG. The article doesn't say if it will require a Prime membership but I'm guessing that it will since the Ubi games do. Of course I'm sure lots of the stuff on GoG isn't available on Luna but most newer stuff seems to be. Going to be interesting to see if this pushes Valve towards some sort of cloud streaming option of their own. Say what you want about game ownership and the like but as someone who has an older computer but high speed internet, cloud gaming has been a great thing for me recently and I've found myself genuinely sad Stadia died as it ran the best of any of them and I think really just needed better options to use people's existing libraries like this deal will.

As long as games stay DRM-FREE on GOG from the base-game to all expansions & DLC's for all single-player content and they don't lose sight & support of all of that - it's fine to have optional "additions" like Amazon Luna.

Luna should NEVER become a requirement though for any GOG game. PERIOD.

Wait, Stadia was still alive?

(I’m almost sad I’m not going to be able to use that joke anymore… almost.)

I think if Google had just stopped selling games on Stadia but let it sort of sit there for a couple of years and simmer instead of killing it completely that deals like this one would have come along and it would have had a second life. Stadia performed better five years ago than any of them do even now and had features none of the other platforms have even attempted. As I've gotten more into cloud gaming recently I regret not making better use of it when it was around.

I don't think anything even exists at all on Luna as an exclusive or with it as a requirement. The only thing I've ever noticed is it seems to be the only way to play the standalone Star Wars Pinball game on PC. This could potentially be a portent of a GoG based subscription service though perhaps, but I could see some backlash if that was announced. Have to wonder about the time frame for all this though, it's just given as "soon" and none of the CDPR stuff is already playable on Luna so it could be a while. Hopefully it will also mean the CDPR stuff gets put into the rotation of free games available for Prime members they have every month.

Hopefully the Steam version gets updated also or someone at least makes a hack that works for it.

I bought this game on sale years ago from Gamersgate. I just recently downloaded it with the DRM-free patch to play on an old I7 laptop I installed Win XP on. I always liked it and I'm glad it's available again.

I had issues w/ it on W10 myself with Alpha Protocol (Steam-version).

SIDE NOTE - Also own AP from retail on disc.

IIRC, to solve the weird issues (and I think it was a DX 9.0 game, from the get-go) - I had to use DXVK to solve a lot of the weird issues w/ crashing & other graphical weirdness.

I never played it on Win 10 and I can't remember if I played it on Win 7. My main rig ran Win XP for so many years. I eventually just built another rig to play on since updating that rig would have been a waste of time.
