Halo: Reach
This doesn't make sense. Do you understand what he is saying?

He'll only get matched up with other people who have Map Pack 2.
Oops! Sorry, I guess my reading comprehension was off last night. :D

The only drawback I see with that is that I am not sure how many people would have ONLY a second map pack and the original maps. Seems like only a small fraction of players would have that - which means a smaller statistical pool of possible players for Arena ranking. Other than that, it seems like a good system. Though, I don't believe Bungie has said anything about this topic yet, so we can't really assume they will handle things the same way as they did in Halo 3, especially considering their playlist manager got fired.

The best way to fix DLC matchmaking problems is to go back to what they did with Halo 2. Charge for the map pack, and then 3 months or so down the line make it free. Continue the same system for each map pack. In the end all maps were required to play Halo2 and no one was locked out. Anyways if you are still playing Halo3 online at this point then you should have all the maps.

Halo3 needs the DLC restrictions, when they originally removed all of them I would never find any maps besides the ones on disc. Bioshock2 is a perfect example. I bought the map pack a few days after it came out, and I have yet to see the maps pop up once in matchmaking :

Ordinarily in a smaller game it would probably be a problem. It's not really with MW2.

Was there ever any confirmation about the playlist manager being fired? Also, I believe Bungie has said they were not happy with the way the Map Packs were handled with H3. Something MS did that they didn't have control over.

Shishka is definitely gone, but there's been no word from anyone at Bungie regarding why he left. Even direct questions about it posed to urk over on NeoGAF in the Halo: Reach threads have gone unanswered.

It might be said somewhere in this thread, so I am sorry for asking again if it is. How long is the single player campaign in this? I have enjoyed the other Halo's but don't have XBLGold right now (and prob won't for awhile) so I don't want to pick this up to just be done with it 4 hours later.

No clue, but chances are it won't be long enough to justify buying the game over renting it.

I don't know how long it will be, but based on Halo 3 and ODST, I would assume it will be fairly short. I would recommend renting it to play the campaign, then buy it when you get XBL again.

If you played ODST, firefight will be even better this time around

THis is what I'm waiting to see. I don't know why, but I love it when we break stuff as a swarming mass of rabid gamers. It shows our strength in numbers. HA!

Weird, I had no problems on the first day.

I put my Reserve down today at Gamestop just cause I want the armor.

I rented ODST today and hopefully I can breeze through it and enjoy Reach when it comes out.

Did they extend the beta a few days? I thought I remembered being pissed about the first day's fuckups and them not extending it like they did with Halo 3.

I am pretty sure it was just 1 or 2 days. It was for the first day mess-ups

They "extended" it a day or so, but never explicitly said it was because of the first day fuck ups like they did with Halo 3.

And that developer commentary bonus for the Legendary Edition sounds awesome.

Go inside Bungie and get direct access to the team that created the franchise as they play through their last and most ambitious entry in series, Halo: Reach. To celebrate the event – and to commemorate those fans who picked up the Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach – Creative Director, Marcus Lehto, Audio Director and Composer, Marty O’Donnell, Cinematics and Story Lead, Lee Wilson, and Effects Lead, Steve Scott sit down together to deliver two full hours of exclusive, behind-the-scenes campaign commentary covering unrevealed aspects of Halo: Reach’s production. From concept to cutting room floor, this last look back is the final word on Halo: Reach’s development, straight from the team that built the game.

The bonus content covers a full campaign play-through, from start to finish, judiciously edited to excise the downtime and deliver only the most impactful moments. The end result is a potent combination of intense campaign gameplay fused with insightful, and dare I say whimsical, commentary from some of our studio’s brightest minds (and Marty, too!).

It should go without saying that there are massive spoilers included in the Legendary Edition Bonus Content, so you’ll want to steer clear until you’ve experienced the story for yourself firsthand. But once you’ve finished up your inaugural run, this is a definitely a piece you won’t want to miss. As mentioned in the description, it’s likely the final word on the Halo series from the team that created the franchise (that’s us).

Thanks

High five! Very nice. I sold my code for $27, so the controller was "normal" price. Then, with the codes from the Legendary ed., sold them for a total of $165. So, when I include the + $20 credit at amazon.....I made like $30 on the deal and I have the entire legendary edition to enjoy. :D

WOW, i'm tempted to do that now lol.

some people think selling DLC is dangerous, due to ebays policys. They're probably right. Guess I'm okay with the risk (see a few pages back on this thread). I've been selling DLC that I won't use for a while and it's always gone pretty smooth.

But, fatman is right, post 'em now cuz there will be a flood soon. I was the first dude on ebay to sell the flaming head code. $100 paid. there's one now going for $117!

in for the preorder last night!

sadly, no xbox live so I am really only getting half of the game. Oh well, single player halo is always awesome anyway.

You could try Xbox Connect. Google it.

Also, Bungie scrapped some pretty cool things from Halo Reach:

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/111/1118468p1.html

The team closed out with footage of several prototyping experiments from the development of Reach that didn't make it into the final game, including a more robust version of space combat that featured UNSC and Covenant craft engaged in multiplayer battles above Reach's atmosphere. They also showed a boat and watercraft prototype that appeared pretty limited in how far it was developed before being halted, as well as a very early "Giants" prototype that featured enormous Brute-like creatures and a "Boarding" prototype that featured a Spartan more or less hijacking an Elite and sticking it with an explosive device.

maybe not, i havent tried to cancel my order. I could get it somewhere else, but id much rather use my gamestop credit, than actual cash.

How are people selling Legendary codes right now?

Also, I've watched unboxing videos and I'm pretty sure this is the case, but the Limited Edition of the game comes with the full retail standard version, sealed, right?

They're preorders. People preorder them, then ship the code when the game comes out.

Is this worth buying if my only experience is with Halo 1 (didn't like it) and I won't play multiplayer?

I'm super tempted by the $20 credit, but writing it out like that makes it seem a bit silly of me

If it's not your thing, it's not your thing. The formula has pretty much stayed the same, with ODST being the biggest variation. Why not try a rental and see if you like it?

Honestly, I am a huge Halo fan, but if you are not playing multiplayer, the single player is only worth a rental.

That isn't a knock against Halo, it's never been about singleplayer really. It really is typical of the FPS genre, in that usually the singleplayer portion of the game is only worth the rental.

The biggest part of the game is the multiplayer. I like the single but the multiplayer is where it is at with Halo.
