This is a continuation of this previous thread. Since it was getting very close to the 5,000 thread mark, I figured it was time for a reset.

Post any deals you find, recommendations, requests for deals, etc. Please keep things as civil as possible. There's no such thing as a bad deal post and reviews are opinions.

Games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

Apple Game Center
Apple Game Center allows you to keep a friends list, track your in game achievements, and compare with your friends. Many games are starting to support this. Currently this only runs on iPod & iPhone, but an update will be coming soon that enables this for iPad users.

Make sure to checkout the official CAG Game Center Exchange Thread. You can post your game center name and see the names of your favorite CAG'rs. You can also exchange OpenFeint & Plus+ names there.

ITUNES GIFT CARD SALES
Gamestop: 6/8 to 6/14, $25 iTunes gift card for $20

Important Notes:

1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iOS devices. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.

2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.

3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.

4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.

5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.

6. Apps can be re-downloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.

7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.

8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE or check the iTunes Store support page. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.

9. If you somehow break your iOS device, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try using one of the repair guides on iFixit to repair it yourself. Apple Stores have been known to give discounts if you bring in a iOS device that they will not fix since it's not in warranty. This discount however is very small.

10. Using a screen protector can extend the life of your device. Most stores carry these, but they can be hard to install. The best I have personally used are made by a company called Power Support. They have both clear and anti-glare protectors. They are easier to install because the protector is a firm yet thin piece of plastic. Two come in a pack, average price I've seen is $20. Griffin Technologies and Zagg are also very good.

11. Universal Apps have a small plus sign in the upper left corner next to their price. They can be played natively on both the iPad and iPod/iPhone. iPhone games that are not universal can still be played on the iPad with a lower resolution. Non universal iPad games cannot be played on the iPhone.

Feel free to add games, genres or move titles as needed. This list is to give CAGs a chance to catch up on missed high-quality games and to get new users started on "can't miss" titles to download for their new idevice.
Can you point me in the direction of that thread? I'd like to check it out, but can't seem to find it. Thanks!
Yeah, you could make a group and post the codes there (in batches probably), and once the batches keep going just post a new one. Those with access to the group would be the only ones to see it.

OR the email thingie. Just let us know, I'd join the group (or send the email), depending in your final decision :D

I've snagged about three dozen codes for Shazam Encore for anyone who's interested. I've also got a better idea of which Starbucks locations to hit up next week when SPY Mouse becomes the free Pick of the Week App.

Line Birds is the new main FAAD game.
"Guide these cute birds through a world full of danger. Unlock new birds as you progress through the game. Each bird has its own special ability from getting invisible or using time warp to a powerful explosion ability."

Monster Mouth DDS
is also being featured on FAAD.
"As a dentist for monsters, you'll journey into the cavernous mouths of ENORMOUS monsters in order to solve their dental problems before their mouths can slam shut! Monster Mouth DDS lets you take control of being a dentist for an array of wacky monster patients, each of which has a unique complaint that you'll have to deal with as quickly as you can, while inflicting as little pain as possible."

The Mystery Lab: Original Minesweeper is Great App a Day's freebie.
"Original minesweeper with great special effects. Who will get the high score? Who will reach the highest level? A military lab, a hidden secret... A long time ago, a military laboratory was buried under this ground. Terrifying experiences have been conducted in great secrecy. Nowadays, a real estate project is under building... in this very ground. As an expert with explosives, you must help the workers to clean up various areas. Avoid the destruction of the town in the process."

Ramen Delight
is Free App Calendar's contribution today.
"Attract customers with quirky personalities! From the fierce ninja that can throw shurikens to other customers, to the giant sumo who can cause earthquakes in the restaurant! You'll see them all here!"

Aces Jewel Hunt
and Aces Jewel Hunt HD (iPad only) have both dropped to FREE for the first time.
"Capture jewels with this gem swapping game! Line up matching jewels to capture them, or if you’re stuck use a special like the spear or vine. Aces Jewel Hunt includes three game types for tons of fun! Improve your speed with the Timed and Quick Challenge games or accumulate as many jewels as possible with the Classic game.
The statistics and online leaderboards make it fun and easy to track your wealth and compete against your friends. Enjoy fantastic graphics and entertaining sound effects while capturing heaps of jewels."

Dimsdale and anyone else interested in the Starbucks codes, please join the google spreadsheet I set up so we can share these. PM me your email address and I'll add you to the spreadsheet permissions.

Hell Flyer is the new main FAAD game.
"you are visiting the core of the earth. the only way out is to use your grappling hook to fly over the smoldering lava beds below. be careful not to burn yourself!
✓ finger-slide CONTROLS
✓ exhilarating GAMEPLAY
✓ super-cool ANIMATION-STYLE
✓ openfeint LEADERBOARDS & ACHIEVEMENTS"

Pocket Sports Football HD
(Universal) is one of the upcoming FAAD titles.
"PocketSports Football HD is designed for the unique capabilities of the iPhone and iPod Touch. Simply tilt to run and touch to pass, but don't think wins will come easy. Timely play choices and split second execution are your keys to victory.
Pick up and play a quick game of 1,2 or 3 minute quarters.
For extended play try and make your way through the PocketSports Football Season to win the championship."

Card Toss
is the latest OpenFeint FGOTD.
"Based on the hit web game, Card Toss is a game of dexterity and skill. In a minimalist, zen-like world, the player's goal is simple: toss that card in the hat! A unique art style and melodic sound effects provide an interesting environment in which to play this endlessly entertaining game.
Flick-based controls make tosses feel very smooth, and players can string multiple throws together for monster combos. Don't think it will be easy though, as players must adjust for distance, strength and wind direction. Card Toss is a game that is easy to learn but difficult to master!"

Super Sushi Ninja is the offering from Great App a Day.
"Super Sushi Ninja must race through the Oni Kame Kingdom and save Kawaii Princess. Eat sushi to get max health. Run, jump, pound and throw shuriken to kill enemies. Get bonus and coin, use money to buy sushi and shuriken in Upgrades Menu"

Sent an email ^_^
Yeah, me too. I thought it was worth $5, at $.99 it's a steal though. I picked up Rimelands due to word of mouth here.
I'm enjoying Aralon as well. I picked it up at 99 cents and have actually stuck with it. It has a couple bugs (there are some quests that I can't accept. Sometimes conflicting with another), but at this price I can't complain.

On the other hand, Rimelands I enjoyed when I first picked it up a long time ago, but after a bad experience I can't say I'm very happy with it. Heed this warning: If you're being chased by an enemy, don't flee into a cave. It will autosave and the enemy will still be waiting for you when you come out. I'm stuck in an unwinnable situation where there's an enemy inside AND out of the cave waiting to kill me. So literally I load my game and die. Still mad they didn't fix that. I feel like if you die you should start at that map's entrance, not the last door you went through.

I'm enjoying Rimelands so far, but haven't fled into a cave. I'll keep that in mind and hopefully not forget and end up doing that. :) I might pick up Aralon as well. Mulling it over. Why does the description of Aralon say that Pocket RPG is "launching 9/1" at 66% off? Pocket RPG has been out for a while. Do they mean that a sale will be starting 9/1? Well, I hope so. I've been eyeing that one.

Grabbed Zombie Minesweeper and Art Penguin - thanks!

And what the heck, bit on Aralon and Flick Golf Extreme HD at 99 cents each.

I just added about 20 codes to the list, do you know what day they put out the new ones?

I think we've got PLENTY of Starbucks codes at this point. I'm about to add another 25 or so, and there's already 55 on there. Hopefully Spy Mouse codes will be out tomorrow.
I seemed to have missed the link to the spreadsheet - the link you posted a page or so back was removed when you last edited the post.

Thanks!
PM Me your email address and I'll add you to the spreadsheet permissions and then it will email you a link to the spreadsheet.

Just a head's up on the Starbucks Spreadsheet - Google Docs is currently broken and not letting me control the sharing on the spreadsheet. I'll add the rest of the people in the queue just as soon as it lets me back in.

Ok, Starbucks Spreadsheet nonsense has been sorted. I've added everyone that's PM'd me so far. We're up to 41 people, and there's still 80+ Shazam codes in the spreadsheet - so go tell your friends to sign up!

I use ComicZeal to read cbr/cbz files. Can upload via email, iTunes, and Dropbox. It's a bit pricey (paid 7.99, not sure it's still at that price point) but it's definitely worth a look.

How is it on the iPhone/iPod? I don't mind paying for it if it's the one to get but I just want to be sure it works on both platforms well. Can it do zip/rar files or do I just have to rename them?

Here's the itunes link.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/comic-zeal-comic-reader/id363990983?mt=8

I have Comic Zeal for my iPad and it's well worth the money. Comic Zeal 4 is a universal app, but if you just have an iPhone/iPod there's also Comic Zeal Mini for $3.99. And it does support ZIP and RAR archive files as well as PDFs.

I haven't tried it on my phone, but I imagine it's largely the same experience as on the iPad, just not nearly as much screen real estate.

I use Comic Flow... it's pretty basic but it does pretty much everything I want it to and it's free. You can only upload files to it via WebDAV or iTunes though... I'd prefer FTP but for the price I can't really complain.

*edit* - Oh, yeah, you can also add files to it through Dropbox.

I believe I used to use Bookman for this. They originally only had a free universal app, then made separate iPhone/iPad apps and added ads to the original one. It's still free though so it may be worth a look.
Anyone know what happened to the HP Touchpad thread? It's gone!
It was (sadly) moved to the Other Deals and Requests forum. I guess the mods received enough complaints about it

I'll wonder for a few seconds why you posted that here.... OK, done.

I'm enjoying Edge Extended quite a bit. It's not on sale, but is a new release at 99 cents. Cheaper then the original version of the game. I never played the original, but this one is good and I'm glad I bought it. I've now put the original on my appshopper wishlist and will wait for a price drop on that. Here's Edge Extended (Universal):

Angry Zombies !! has dropped to FREE for the first time.

EDIT: Just checked my phone and read the text message my wife sent me three hours ago. She managed to snag a stack of two dozen SPY Mouse codes for me this morning. Gotta love that. I'll post them to Achilles' Google Docs spreadsheet when I get home tonight. I also might hit up a different Starbucks on the way back to see if I can get a few more cards.

Your wife is pretty cool!

I definitely appreciate people snagging those Starbucks cards, but I really can't believe that they are going to be around for much longer given how lots of forums seem to have people taking stacks of them and distributing them on the internet, which surely defeats the purpose from Starbucks' perspective. Mind you, I will use one of the such distributed codes for as long as they keep doing this. :) :) :)
Are the Starbucks codes redeemable on an iPhone? I keep getting an error that the code is incompatible with my device.
Are you on a Verizon iPhone by chance? My buddy was having problems redeeming the Shazam codes on his Verizon iPhone but my AT&T iPhone 4 worked just fine.

Freakin' awesome. My two local Starbucks hadn't put out the Spy Mouse codes yet this morning. Good work from your wife!

That app looks great but no iphone support yet

Yeah, she's a keeper. I wanted her to give it a try first thing this morning because I'm guessing the SPY Mouse freebies may be more popular than Shazam Encore. I also have no qualms about snagging as many free cards from Starbucks as possible (within reason, of course). My wife drops *at least* $20-$30 a month at the 'bucks (and has for years). Me snarfing up a few dozen freebie codes is hardly going to make a dent on their bottom line. Besides, I'll indulge in the occasional Mocha Frappuccino Light every now and then, too.

I am indeed on a Verizon iPhone! Why does it seem like we're always second class?!
Whomever added the Spy Mouse worksheet to the spreadsheet to prep for codes, but didn't have any to enter, thanks for getting my hopes up. :)
That would be o0achilles0o, you can see who edited a google doc last fyi. ;) I also got excited but then saw he was just prepping it for codes. haha
Bah, no go on spy mouse at my Starbucks. Cashier said they were gone less than an hour after they put them out.
Dimsdale's wife took them. :) :)

The 1112 games are on sale (aside from the new episode).

Episode 1 is FREE:
http://appshopper.com/games/1112-episode-01
http://appshopper.com/games/1112-episode-01-hd

Episode 2 is 99 cents:
http://appshopper.com/games/1112-episode-02
http://appshopper.com/games/1112-episode-02-hd

I've had episode 1 for forever and have never even launched it. I have no idea if it's any good.
