Since the old thread was getting too large, I made this new thread to continue.

Apple iPhone & iPod Touch games in the App store are constantly going on sale. While I originally posted games and prices in this post, it's become almost impossible to keep up with it all. Feel free to post in this topic on good deals and games you enjoy. Developers are also encouraged to join in, especially if they are running promos or sales.

If you want to check out a particular game, try the following review sites, or ask in here so fellow CAG's can assist you.

Important Notes:

 1. Make sure to check for periodic updates either in iTunes or on your iPod\iPhone. For each release of new firmware, there's usually a bunch of games updated right afterward.
 2. Some applications also go on sale by their authors when they reach 1 million download and similar milestones.
 3. Apps often have specials the day before, during, and after holidays, regardless if said game/app is related to the holiday.
 4. Newly released apps will often have a % or dollar amount off for a limited period of time to gain a large following quicker. While browsing the app store you can go to a particular type or genre and order according to release date. This can make finding new app discounts faster.
 5. Make sure to backup your purchases in iTunes to CD/DVD for safe keeping. You can do this by clicking File-->Library-->Backup to Disc. Then choose all purchases, applications only, and full or incremental backup. How often is up to you, but I do this monthly, or more often if I buy a lot of apps.
 6. Apps can be redownloaded without incurring an extra charge if you previously purchased it. This is good if you have a crash and forget to backup your purchases. I don't know if this is a permanent feature so backing up regularly is still important.
 7. I strongly advise not to buy iTunes Gift Cards by 3rd parties unless you know they can be trusted. Retail stores, receiving cards as gifts, etc are the best ways. There are many credit card scams, stolen cards, hacked cards going around, especially on Ebay.
 8. If you are the victim of a iTunes Card scam or get your account locked due to one not all hope is lost. Apple has been fairly lenient on these issues. Call Apple directly at 1-800-MY-APPLE, or check the iTunes Store support site. Also going to your local Apple Store to discuss it can help. The account locking is an automated process and can be reversed. This can take time so be cautious if you use gift cards from 3rd party sources.
 9. If you somehow break your iPhone or iPod Touch, you have some options. If you bought the Applecare warranty it should be covered for most items. If your Applecare ran out or you don't have one, try these sites for do it yourself replacement parts & fixes.
I love that Sword & Poker is in the "tags" for this thread! xD
sword and poker is the absolute best ipod game I have, just love the simplicity, yet utter complexity of it.
More price drops (via toucharcade)

Assassin's Creed II Discovery ($6.99)
Fast drop ... anyone have any thoughts on this? I was psyched when I first saw it (after it's ... early release) but some of the subsequent reviews have lowered it on my must have list (IGN gave it a 7 something and it seems like it has less depth than the original AC on iphone from what I've read ... not that AC had much depth to begin with).
i highly recommend Bird Strike for 1.99 for anyone who likes Doodle Jump, Parachute Ninja, Angry Bird type games. Its a lot like doodle jump, but the levels are fixed and you get points by collecting things as you rocket up into the air. Its got leader boards and achievements. The biggest negative is its only 9 levels and no endless mode, but the developer says they're almost done with endless mode and more levels are on the way. This game hasn't seemed to have gotten a lot of attention, but I really enjoy it.
I found Bird Strike from this board and it is great! Like you said, with more levels this game would be even better.
Today's Free App a Day offering is Texas Tea. A dice / poker / match 3 combo puzzler. Check it out if so inclined (http://www.freeappaday.com/app.php?day=06&month=02).
Played this for a little while, its a really crappy version of sword and poker with no rpg elements. I absolutely loved sword and poker, but this one just wasn't any fun for me. Picked up a couple other games today too. Drop 7, which I'm sure most people already know about/have is a very good tetris/sodoku puzzler and ReBounce is a pretty good physics puzzler that kind of has a peggle feel.

Sharks treasure is also free today.

edit:

Also, Space Miner was released yesterday for 4.99, its and rpg asteroid type game, I haven't gotten it yet but its supposed to be outstanding from all the things ive read, in fact I haven't really seen anything negative on it. Gonna pick it up later.
Valet Hero is free today.
That's a cool looking game. Can't go wrong with free. I was going to get a card to get this game this week too.

Damnit, I bought this for a dollar a few days ago. Oh well, its pretty fun.

Iblast moki is on sale for .99, ign rated it the number 1 iPhone game a few days ago. While I don't know about that, it's a pretty solid physics puzzler and worth a look. I picked up space miner last night, it's a lot of money for an app, but it's damn good.

On the bright side, you helped support a CAG developer.
Hey Guys

Guess you already saw, Valet Hero is free today! So download it and give it a play!

Hope everyone here enjoys! =D

I'm not normally into the line-drawing games, but this is one of two (Car Mania being the other) that I do like. Valet Hero is staying on the iPod now. Really having fun with it.

anyone played that Broken Sword (Blade?) point-and-click adventure game that's $6.99? It's gotten decent reviews and i really enjoyed Beneath a Steel Sky...is this a worthy addition to the genre?

If you liked Beneath a Steel Sky then you should love Broken Sword. I've been a fan of the series for years and there are three sequels to it that are worth seeking out, although I never played the most recent one. I would definately say it's better than Steel Sky as the characters are a lot more developed and interesting.

Okay, I have not played Broken Sword on the iPhone, but I have played the game that is a port ("remake?") of. It was fantastic. If you enjoyed Beneath a Steel Sky, Broken Sword is a MUCH better game.

I played the DS version of the Broken Sword remaster, and it was really well done. This versions looks to be almost a full port of that one, just accounting for the screen differences. I hadn't played it before, and I still liked it a lot. And FWIW, the DS version was $30. :)
Freeappaday.com app is 'iCatchall'. It's one of those lots-of-apps-in-one thingys. I'll pass.
You might have overlooked the file storage aka wireless drive that iCatchall has. It supposedly uses folders which other apps don't. I don't know if it has a limit like Files Lite does (200mb).

plants vs. zombies is finally getting released on feb. 15, I cannot wait for that one, the touch screen is perfect for it and its a great pick up and play. For those that cannot wait, pigs vs. wolves is an ok clone of it's mechanics that's on sale for .99.

Bought!
Beaten!
Is it just that good or just that short? I love Plants vs Zombies, but have already bought and beaten it on my laptop, so I don't think I'd pay more than a $1 or $2 for it on the iPod, which is a price I don't think it will hit for awhile. Something that is a little different might be just what I want, and for a $1, is probably a much cheaper alternative.

I'm curious if Dancing Zombie will be in the iPod release. I remember Michael Jackson died soon after the game came out, so it was really ironic whenever he popped out of the ground.

It's pretty short-much less replay value than Plants vs. Zombies, but if you love plants vs. zombies you will probably like this one. It's not as good as the original by any means, but it's the closes thing I've played to the mechanics of p vs z. I thought it was worth a buck, but my standards for a buck arent tremendously high. The biggest differences between the 2 in terms of gameplay, besides how polished plants is, are that there is no money that falls from the sky and that there are no obstacles in the environment.
If you're looking for a battery to charge up your ipod touch or iphone, I recommend this: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10831&cs_id=1083110&p_id=5480&seq=1&format=2

Not sure how long until the daily deal expires, but this is usually $15.xx. Great battery if you need one.
Normally I'm all about buying from Monoprice, but I'm wary of anything iPhone related from them now after my experience this past weekend. I had a hell of a time with my phone thanks to the iPhone cable that I bought from them -- attempted to install the 3.1.3 update using it, and it failed and left the phone bricked. Four attempts at doing a restore using the Monoprice cable also failed. Finally I retrieved my Apple cable and used it instead, and the restore worked just fine. It was a scary few hours, though. Needless to say, that Monoprice cable is going in the trash.

It's just that short.

That being said, I haven't tried out endless mode, but campaign was generally short and followed the same pattern of PvZ. Beat a level, gain a new plant pig. It's decent and worth the 99 pennies, but if you're looking for the next PvZ, you're going to be sorely disappointed.
