I am yet to hold onto the #1 spot in any event myself

I wonder how many other people here have nabbed (and of course kept until the actual end) a #1 spot in an event?

I think draw rate is the same but more noticeable if you redeem several at a time. I notice it more & usually save 5-10 before I redeem them. After events & rewards I saved 5 tokens and redeemed them. The first 2 out the gate were a black and purple moonstone cover. Even though I dont need them, it was nice to see something other then a 1*. I was actually shocked when I had an extra standard token and redeemed it for the hell of it. A Black Black panther cover, I didnt even think he was in the standard token pulls yet.

Congrats! I remember that feeling when I won my 1st X-force cover and all 3 Black Panther covers, or was it Psylocke? I dont remember.

Anyways you want that purple, the red is kinda weak & so many other characters have better red skills. Plus the purple feeds the green skill. I actually wish I had more purple covers than the now 2 I have,

Twice here. Once for a IW reward, and once for an X-Force. Which events, I have no recollection, but it's damn cool to get the rewards and see that you held on to the top spot.

I was just dreaming big, since I already have purple maxed out, with two in green and three in red. I can't quite tap the button to sell the extra purple, I think this will be my first unusable 3* cover.

I know, I know, third star problems. :-({|=

Lol it gets hard, especially when that screen pops up, "This is a rare cover, are you sure you want to sell it." Plus for only 500 iso too, it just hurts.

Of all the things to be maxed on, Grey suits purple, man. My grey suit is sitting at 3/3/2, but I hardly use her. I wish her skills wouldnt cost so much! I mean really, her skills are like captain America's yellow, nice to think about but when am I gonna save up the colors?

Really not happy with this, I mean if you look at the MPQ forum they even know X alliance is already going to be guaranteed a cover or award. They're even tweaking some things and the Dev's are clearying saying which alliances it will affect.

I was waiting for them to release a decent 4* cover but Im really mixed about how they're doing it & who it is.

The event is 25 days and just a drawn out training simulator, progression rewards are basically worthless for most regular players. I miss the old progression rewards where I could get some decent covers I may have needed.

Yes Im complaining today, bad day bleh....

Looking at Nick's moves they seem a bit weird. I was mainly confused by his first one where he calls in Avengers?

And yeah it really stinks it is so heavily based on Alliances. BUT! We are now at 13, that means 7 more people to go and we are real contenders! We can do it!

I still say we do the MPQ Forums but instead of finding people who want to use HP with the pay it forward, we do what we did at first and get a small group of people and we go the PayPal route.

Speaking of a bad day, this is by no means to compare with you at all because this is just stupid and silly.

But so I took some old Marvel toys and put them up in my cubicle. I used thumbtacks in strategically placed spots and have them all up and it looks great. It has really been helping me stay in a more creative mindset despite being at this blackhole for creativity of a job. So naturally I wanted to have more to put up. My Marvel Legends are far too big and Marvel Universe figures are a rip off at retail prices. So I went to eBay and found some loose lots of Marvel Universe figures. I set a max bid this morning on two BIG lots with the intention of only winning one of them. I was spacing out this morning and accidentally mixed them up and ramped up the max on both instead of just the one and now I am sitting as the highest bidder and am likely to win on multiple loose lots of toys. I am embarrassed to say how much I will be spending if I do win both and I just feel like an idiot : /

Moral of the story, never leave an eBay tab open when I am both bored and tired at work.

Yeah I saw that move, ok so 1st he calls in cap, then at level 2 he calls in iron man. So Im guessing his move will be the Avengers just flashing across the screen with their moves. Cheap and easy to recylcle.... I forsee a cap shield toss, Iron man repulsor blast, probably a hawkeye arrow stab, then widow, hulk, or thor somehow....yeah thats 6 but Im trying to remember who was in the movie, since thats what they're usually going with.

Moral is never bid on multiple lots on ebay, Ive made that mistake too. If you ever do just lowball and see how the other bids go. You always expect to get outbid & then it doesnt happen. You were safe today but I hope you learned your lesson.

I'm thinking it either allows you to replace a downed character or add a temporary fourth to your roster. Although, maybe it's more like a variable power, where each power level adds a new element instead of a scale in damage/effect - Cap pops in with his red power, Iron Man with his one-star yellow, etc.

My only issue with that first option is setting a precedent for having more than three opponents in a scaled PvE - can you just imagine a level 230 Fury who keeps popping in new characters to beat? Or just outright making you fight four Maggia or something.

EDIT: Heh. Not the only one thinking about how it would work.

To expand on the season event, there are other events whose point totals count towards the total. For example, right now, the Hollowpoint Kiss event's points count towards Season 1 as well as the Season 1 Simulator. So we'll want to try and rack up as many points as possible in as many events as we can. My main goal is to grab that black Hulk cover for 3000 points accumulated. Hoping to start at around 600-700 in the Widow event, which might be difficult, having to use the basic stand-in level 23 GSBW.

Yeah I wanted to play in the Hollowpoint one and get the 3* Green but then I got my 5th one from the Assault pack so I am not as motivated to, especially because I too only have my basic lvl 15 GSBW as well so I will be using the stock lvl 23 one.

I still plan to play the event for the overall points, but I am not going to go super hard on it to get ranked super high.

Back to the game though, last I checked we were 249 in the Alliance ranking for the first sub mission of the event!!!

Just one or two more people and we would be guaranteed in that tier every event, plus that means the next bump up after that is actual 3* covers!!

Yeah we've been doing good enough to almost get to that point. We were 246 half an hour before the Florida Sub event ended, I know I jumped in an hour before it ended. Something happened though & we narrowly got pushed out, I was bummed. We missed the heroic token and ended with 3 standards. Worked out in my favor anyways, Black panther baby! Still had we gotten that heroic....I guess I'll never know what couldve been.... :cry:

 
Yeah I am a bit baffled with all of the events but I have decided to focus solely on the Hunt events. If we all in CAGvengers focus on that we should now be able to nab the top 250 rewards for each event. We are hovering around 275 now.

I just bought a 14th spot and kept booting people until we got a great random who will help out score. Anyone who has the HP and wants to open up a slot to help the team grow even more just let me or downsouthtigger know!

Then there's the Hollowpoint tournament and so many other things going on as well....

 
I stay away from this thread for an evening, and all of the sudden I like all hard things? The only hard things I like are the ones that score me 1000+ event points. And nipples. Boom.

I suggest focus be on the Hunt event first. As I found out from the last Savage Land sub event its best to come in within the last 12 hours. I busted ass and started about 1-2 hours before it ended & came in the top 25-30(?) & had our alliance within the top 250 til someone booted us out.

SHIELD season 1 is going to last 25 days & will count all our winnings from the tournaments during that time. If entering a tournament for a decent ranking I have 2 suggestions.

  1. The second the tournament starts get in there with a tank team, defeat the seed teams, and tank. Depending on how well your tank team succeeds, when you come back you'll be facing enemy teams that will be no porblem.
  2. Tournaments only last 2-3 days, try to start with about 1 day left in the tournament. The best time to enter is in the middle of the tournament. Heavy players have already started and now everyone knows to come in later for better brackets, which doesnt happen anymore. The best brackets Ive found are mid event, when average players finally come in because they've been too busy and finally found time. Without much trying Ive been in the top 25 each time. I do need to find a better strategy as Im getting tired of getting in the top 10, shielding, & watching as everyone does the last push putting me at the 11 spot.
 
I would agree that it makes more sense to focus on The Hunt since that one is ending first.  Did everyone get reduced Iso bonus today?  When we at 13 members, I was getting 300 (12 members*25 point bonus), but today I got 130 (13 members *10 point bonus).

I don't have a ton of levels I can play in The Hunt though, so I mix it up a little sometimes.  Also, I was playing the Human Torch one in Alaska, and my level 85 Thor got knocked out very quickly, so I was stuck playing with OBW and a severely under-leveled Torch.  Still won, but it was interesting to say the least.

Too many new people in the alliance chat, who are half of these folks?  Anyways taking the alliance private again, we've had to many wanderers coming in and out since Broly opened up a spot.

My team now with 3* Thor, OBW and Torch is really kicking some major ass. I just still need the ISO! I can get Thor to 105 and Torch to 79 right now yet they are just at 86 and 58 respectively as I wait to earn more ISO : (

They are fine for the event, but in a normal tournament setting Torch is not up to snuff yet. I can at least still use Thor and OBW and then whatever 3rd character we are forced to use... except for this Hollowpoint where I can't use OBW. Womp womp wompppp

 
Hey, I'm just jumping in to this thread. Good to see its active. For CAGvengers, you need to get those other 6 spots filled. If anyone is actively doing recruiting, check out the gamefaqs forum of the d3p forums. I'm in an alliance with 20 members and we always place in the top 50 and occasionally top 10. The way this system is set up really shafts you if you don't have a full team. 

Here are some resources I've used. Since joining my alliance, I've been able to double my roster size and get all 2* and 3* characters. I'm moving from 2* to 3* now. I suggest setting up a facebook group for your alliance. It's helped us coordinate event strategy and share tips. I haven't found a good tanking guide or thread and by no means am I an expert at that but if you want to know about that let me know. Any questions, shoot me a PM if you don't hear from me here. Here to share the knowledge.

Thanks for those links. The thread on rubberbanding pointed out that I might be doing a disservice to myself by making sure I'm healed up before the final enemy whack. I might try using healing outside of the events to see if it scales back the... um, scaling.

Yeah we're working on those spots now actually... I think its safe to say we blame kojubat for the open spots, especially when he's busy scaling, whacking, and rubber banding (not in that order).

Blame also goes on ltrain as well, he's our recruiter but he's been distracted by hard things, especially nipples....

If you don't do it in that order, you can't maximize your bracketing. There's nothing like a good bracketing.

I was a top ranked player in Marvel Avengers Alliance and they included Squirrel Girl a few months back as a playable character! I have actually finally stepped down from playing that game. *sad day*

I have a feeling we are more than likely just going to get more rehashed characters or one directly from the movies : /

I only seem to face the top tier opponents in tournaments once I move into the top 20 ranks myself. Then the 100+ level guys start showing up. I usually don't have a problem beating opponents until those guys show up.

I really don't have a generic low level team for "tanking". Does that strategy really work?  Just let yourself get beat up for a day or so, get assigned low level teams, and then bring in the heavy hitters to beat them up? Wouldn't that just put you right back in the hard bracket and make you start the cycle all over again?

Remember I always start off most tournaments with a day of tanking, especially when I can remember to get in when they place the seed teams. Yes the strategy works and yes it puts you in a cycle. I forget who else has a tank team but usually mine is the featured character, bagman, and daredevil or bullseye. After a day of getting beat up you will notice you're now fighting 2* that are at level 60 tops. I dont know where my MMR is, but Ive been facing a lot of modern storms. Either people have been using her more or Im facing lower level opponents. The "high" level opponents youd face after tanking are the normal level 85 2*s but they now offer points upwards of 40 per battle, because they're a higher rank than you.

After a while you do start seeing some level 100+ 3*s but those are usually few and far between, for me at least. Since I spend a day tanking every other event Im in a good MMR right now. I know since I usually get 700-800 points per tournament & am usually sitting in the top 10.... Yeah but we all know how I shield and always get bumped into the top 25 at the last minute, those bastards!

The points you lose in the beginning will not even come close to how much you'll gain when you decide to actually start the tournament. Remember your tank team only has to win 1 battle so it becomes your defending team in a tournament. I tried avengers alliance I think after all those Zynga facebook games I got tired of the whole using stamina/points to battle, wait & recharge strategy games. It also reminded me too much like Men in Black 3 just without the base creation level between battles.

Someone on the android deal thread suggested Pacman Monsters, since its another puzzle RPG, but with Pac-man. I gave it a shot & all those other RPG card games started coming back to me. If this game was actually made by MObage it wouldnt surprise me, since it plays like almost all their games. I swear it was blood brothers mixed with "puzzle" elements, which arent really even relevent. It will be uninstalled soon.

I played Avengers on Facebook and so it was easy to play at work. I really enjoyed it and once you played enough you never had to worry about stamina or anything ever really. I was like he top .02% in the world in that game. o_O

Hahah I played it for HOURS every day. Then I randomly just got really sick of it and it felt like a chore to keep up with rather than a fun game. They started adding WAY too many elements. It was fun the way it was but then with too much it was just ridiculous. Made sense though because all of those new things meant more ways for people to spend money haha

I saw that post about the Pac-Man game too and I thought about trying it out, but really if I get hooked to another game that just means less time for MPQ so I decided I probably had better not haha

The first opponents I see in the tournaments are usually those 1 Star level 50 Storms and Iron Man. Then it's some 60-70s Thor and Wolverine.

As I move up, then the 85 guys, and finally once I'm in the top 20 it sends me the 100+ level characters.

I always press skip until I find someone with a good pairing of easy to beat and high point match up.

You seem to be facing the same people I am. Every once and a while I'll see a level 40 Juggernaut in there too.

Tanking does help though, before I did it I ran up against a lot of lvl 100 3* teams. I noticed when I started losing more, my main competition was more 2*s and not all of them at lvl 85. Aside from the usual wolverines/Thors at 85 its a rather eclectic mix that I face. I see mostly 2-3*s at 60-70 now. Sometimes I wonder how some people put together these combinations.

Speaking of combinations sometimes I have a Psylocke in my attack team on tournaments. Since she's a striker, she hits fast & quick & does decent damage. Does she really suck that much? Ive got her at lvl 100+ & I havent ever run across another psylocke on a team, unless she's featured. Just curious because I'll normally run across hulks and punishers.....guess I dont see many Black Panthers either. Just figured someone would have a fully powered usable one by now.

 
I have never come across a Pyslocke myself.

On a side note, I started playing Hearthstone on the computer last night.... It is probably best that it isn't on Android yet or I worry I would neglect MPQ too much : P
