I do not know what triggers it. I am Elite Plus.

It obviously is completely relevant you fucking moron.

But how could you see that, you have your head shoved so far up your ass.

You fucking idiot, it's a REWARDS program. I don't give a fuck how they find new customers, just don't do it in a manner that slaps your loyal customers in the face. How the fuck could you not see that?
All that's missing is talking poorly about his mother or a personal threat to make it the perfect overreaction.

281. Not elite, but do shop regularly at the online store. Don't have a working printer, though; wonder if they'll scan the bar code from a cell phone?
What I do is just save the coupons to a cloud storage site like dropbox and go to the library and print them there. It's like 10 cents per page. I'm sure theres other places here but that's what I do since every single printer I get seems to want to start eating the paper.

yayyy, got one, now to actually have a reason to go x.x maybe if I end up going out for the cheap halloween candy on sale somewhere (its only been a few days, some must be left).

None in my email too. Probably elite plus are excluded since we spend too much on BBY anyway without certificates to push us to spend on their store. Sucks!

I got the last one a few days after the post about it showed up here. Regular member, barely shop there.

For the folks that are pissed that they aren't giving these to regular customers, if $5 is so important to you, stop shopping there and in 2-3 years you'll get your $5. If you plan to shop there after they "screw you over" then you have only yourself to blame. Confoosious is an ass but he's right.

weird... received one in my brothers inbox, but the reward zone id number in the email doesnt match the one on the physical card he uses. must be from one of the many accounts we've opened under the same number lol.

Nothing for me, I never get this type of stuff. Been Silver / ElitePlus for a year already. Seems they hate me or something. I don't even get those random $5 ones either.

Oh I actually got one! What are the values you guys are getting?

I'd imagine most are 5 bucks, but I wonder what kind of range the coupon values have. For example I'm wondering if someone could get a 35.00 coupon, or 85.00 etc. Not just 5 or one lucky 500 coupon lol.

I got one yesterday (well late last night I guess) - it ends in 281 which I'm gathering is $5. I could have used this yesterday when I was in the store but oh well.

I am Elite Plus and have bought a moderate amount of stuff there this year (including a new dishwasher a few weeks ago). But I did let my GCU expire in September.

I'm assuming there's a thread for the new $120 gamer club membership. I first heard about that when I was looking over a piece of paper they had at the store pickup desk yesterday. Seems like something I would have seen here before seeing it on a piece of paper in the store though ;).

Whoa whoa whoa--I knew changes were coming to GCU, but $120?!

What is this $120 gamer club membership you speak of? :whistle2:k

Also put me down for 281 again, lol. Not even elite, just a regular, but rarely buys stuff at BBY, I mean, $5 isn't that bad (or more), lol. :3

Uh, wow - couldn't possibly be that I saw something new that hasn't been discussed here? They had sheets of paper at customer service that on one side discussed their midnight launches for PS4 and X1. On the other side it talked about a new Gamers Club (it was called something else but I forgot the name).

It is $120 for 2 years and includes all the benefits of before except for 2 things:

1) GAMER mag is going away in May
2) 20% off all NEW game purchases (and thus the increased price).

According to the sheet, the SKU for this goes active on Nov. 10th.

Had I known this was breaking news I would have taken a picture of it. I just assumed I was out of the loop and had missed what ought to be a massive 90-page thread about this on CAG ;).

That is an interesting system if true, but I can't imagine many people would bite. I stopped doing GCU over the so so coupons, but I do admit it was absurdly easy to break even (1 $20 dollar voucher with preorder would get you there). I don't see many people will see the same value in such a costly new service.

Do coupons come with it?

If not, you'd have to buy $300 of games a year to break even.

Can you stack like how PUR stacks with everything?

Same here - I gave it up though I probably got a little more back for it than the $15 I put in. $120 is a tough sell but if you are in the habit of buying lots of full-price new games it might be worth it.

And confoosius, I don't know anything about it other than what I can recall from glancing at a piece of paper about 24 hours ago. Like I said, had I known this was something new I would have taken a picture. I might be able to get back to this store in a few days so if we don't hear more before then I'll see if they still have the info there. It almost appeared like it was an internal memo but it was placed right out for customers to view.

It did mention something about telling customers about it - I'm assuming they will push this on new PS4/X1 owners as a way to get all the new games cheaper (and from them, obviously). Thus the link between this memo and the midnight launch info.

We just knew something was going to be "enhanced" on November 10th. That is crazy, $120 for 2 years, that would mean you have to buy at least $300 of video games per year at Best Buy just to break even.

I wonder if current GCU members will get these benefits.

$300 per year is only 5 games per year, which really isn't too bad if you buy a lot of games. I wonder if those of us who were extended to Feb 2014 get the 20% off new games until then.

I bet something like a 6 month or one year free trial. Gets people to try it out. Avoids people complaining about getting ripped off the the $15 sub.

Or 3 months or refund if you prefer a refund.

If it's just games, then I might do it. If it included Accessories, I'd definitely be in.

Just imagine all the BB deal of the days they have. And all the flips this could help with

If that is the case then I really will regret not renewing in September!
Wow, $120 for 2 years to get a 20% discount and they're eliminating the coupons that are worth more than 20%? That sucks. For $120 you can buy 4 years of PS+ at GameStop on Black Friday and get a hell of a lot more games for that money considering at BB you have to put down the $120 up front then over 2 years you have to pay 80% of each game cost. That's going to add up.

I wouldn't say for sure they are eliminating the coupons. Don't they provide coupons online for your GCU account from time-to-time? They might just move entirely to that instead of doing it via the magazine. It might or might not have said something about coupons - will have to see if I can get back there again.

With all the complaining about the coupons @$15, it's going to be a super-whinefest at $60/yr.    Still, I think they would have to offer "Elite Gamer Whatever" specific deals to pull this off.

Dude, unless they use the term "new release" very loosely, this isn't going to end well for CAG's. Something tells me that they'll try to keep the games at full price as long as possible expecting people to buy from them for the $12 off per game (20% of $60). Then of course, they'll lower the price $20 for some sale 6-8 weeks after launch and the folks that bought it for $48 will be pissed. I just don't see this working out unless you're the kind of person that MUST buy games day one but that's not most CAG's. And even then you would have to buy 10 new release games to break even on the cost, the 11th game being the one that saves you money.

edit: 10 games at 20% off per game = $480. That means once you've spent $480 on games over 2 years you'll have broken even on the membership fees...You'll be in for over $500 to actually save money.

Get ready for the whine fest BB customer service!

Didn't get one either, but still getting my gamer magazine even though my subscription expired late September. Tried to renew during blackout period, but obviously no dice. Didn't get the extension like some have reported here, but I was looking to pay anyway, so no biggie.

if the coupons will be done with than i wont do this 120$ for two year sub. as the poster said they will prob keep the msrp as high as possible. now if the coupons arent killed off then this could be interesting as they would stack with the 20% off. we shall wait and see

$120 for two years?  Is anyone going to want to spend that money up front?  The thing about the Powerup Rewards Pro is that it's an extra $15 and they can try and sell it at the counter when you're checking out with your games.  No way anyone at Best Buy can casually try and talk someone into a $120 subscription.

wasn't it enuf , or someone on this board who suggested some tier status similar to this? well they got their wish.

I agree, though I think the allure is going to be someone bringing up all the money you can save. 20% off any game (probably includes CE's) on day 1 can add up over time. And with two years to hit $120 in savings, it's entirely possible. I think a lot of people will hear a guaranteed $15 off (assuming it's $60) any day 1 purchase without the need to preorder, hang onto a gift card or anything like that will appeal to the extremely lazy.

Io didn't say new release. He said new games.

Lets be fair here. Unless you're getting a new release, then this value is going to continue to dwindle. Sure it might be awesome to get $10 dollars off at $40, but once you get into the $30 ($7) - $20 ($2) range it's very little.

i am still surprised bestbuy are going to introduce a $120 membership fee. it was not like the $15 gcu fee was selling like hotcakes. If this $120 membership fee turns out to be true. the trade in at local stores are def going to end soon.

This is coming from a company offering $8 dollars (after 100% Trade in Bonus) for Killzone Mercenary. I don't try to grasp what they think is right or logical.

well, on second thought if i can amass a large trade in profit to pay for the $120 fee, i might consider it. LOL

All the ones they post online in yhe account page are for both free and paid gamers club members I think. They could change this going forward. I didnt read all the posts I missed here so I do not know if there will even be a free option going forward.

On the plus side both my wife and I got GCU accounts in august or so so here is hoping for grandfathering.

Helllz to the no for paying $120 for a damn club membership. F that. Do they seriously think someone will pay @$120 for the privelige of getting 20% off of new games? Especially when virtually every other retailer has some sort of sale on releases, anyway - and BB does NOT most times???? LOL. What an idiotic company.

120. Wow, Not sure who came up with the idea for  tier membership but that was the worst idea ever. I dont have money to spend on membership just to save... I think Ill save by just being patient and buying when games go on sale then spend that $120.

Yeah - I would assume all new games. It definitely didn't say anything about new releases only. I'll have to look into how much I've spent there the last 2 years but I'd wager that I'd come close to paying this off if not surpassing it. Of course a lot of that depends on whether it would stack with coupons and such. Having said that, I don't see myself signing up for this any time soon.
