I do not know what triggers it. I am Elite Plus.

I'm also a 281. Free 5 bucks is nice but I won't be going out of my way to use it like I would if it were worth more

Lets be fair here. Unless you're getting a new release, then this value is going to continue to dwindle. Sure it might be awesome to get $10 dollars off at $40, but once you get into the $30 ($7) - $20 ($2) range it's very little.

No it's not. You're looking at it the wrong way. I (and probably lots of CAGs) don't buy 5 $60 games a year but I certainly buy $300 worth of very cheap on sale games a year. If there are coupons on top of it or other special incentives, then it might be worth it.

Not being new reases makes it better but it doesn't change the total, 20% of $480 is $120. No matter if you buy 10 $60 games or 60 $10 games, you have to get to 480 just to break even. That's a lot - I wonder how many people spend almost $500 on games in a two year period at a single store? I but from various places to get the best deal.

The better question would be is this 20% off stack with pricematching and coupons? $120 subscription is high. Heck xbox gold and psn plus only charges $50 and people still opt out of the service. Dont know if this move is for the better

You gotta spend $600 just to save $120 ($120/20%).

But yeah, the argument gets much worst for the program.

True, mistake on my part, also had a bunch of typos I tried to fix. Kid was screaming. Geez, they think I should feed them?! Jokes aside, it's a lot of money. I'm assuming hardware doesn't get the discount.

There should be a CAG GCU Jump To Conclusions mat and the only square to land on is WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH

Seriously, we'll know what's up in a week. Keep your nerd rage pent up until the actual benefits/cost are announced.

Well, unless their memo was wrong, that's pretty much it. Yes, there are some unknowns like what happens to current members and whether stuff stacks, but for the most part I hit the highlights.

If you guys are just going to complain so much about it, then don't take part of it? I mean c'mon you don't have to give them $120 if you don't want to. WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH

This is a forum where people post opinions and talk about things. There is still a lot we don't know, so all comments are speculation. Maybe there are better perks, maybe there is more to it, who knows. All I can say is, if we all thought like you, there would be no point in anyone posting anything. No one needs to buy anything, just like they don't need other people to answer their question or anything else...

They are going to have some pretty sick bundle pricing with console purchases including this 2 year membership.

Uh, wow - couldn't possibly be that I saw something new that hasn't been discussed here? They had sheets of paper at customer service that on one side discussed their midnight launches for PS4 and X1. On the other side it talked about a new Gamers Club (it was called something else but I forgot the name).

It is $120 for 2 years and includes all the benefits of before except for 2 things:

1) GAMER mag is going away in May
2) 20% off all NEW game purchases (and thus the increased price).

According to the sheet, the SKU for this goes active on Nov. 10th.

Had I known this was breaking news I would have taken a picture of it. I just assumed I was out of the loop and had missed what ought to be a massive 90-page thread about this on CAG ;).

The least someone could do is make a thread about it. I just don't understand why it's on this topic...

Yeah, that's my fault. I looked for a thread thinking there would be one and this was the closest in terms of its relation to Best Buy. I didn't want to make a new thread since all my info is based off a piece of paper I saw at the CS desk at Best Buy yesterday - nothing is confirmed though I'd say it is definitely likely.

I guess I should make a new thread but caution people to wait and see...

Got email too...same as everyone, ending with 281. $5 is cool with me!

It seems like it's only in-store (as far as I know).  Anyone know if I pre-order something online for in-store pickup, that they would then be able to apply this promo and credit me back $5 on my card?

And thanks OP, wouldn't have checked/known otherwise!

Got one on my wife's account....which we never use.
I spend a small fortune at Best Buy on my account, and I get nothing. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?
it actually does, they see u as the guy that cant live without best buy. its not to offend. their thoughts are why throw money to convince this guy to cone in to our stores. i used to be like u, went all the time spent money consistently, then stopped going for like a month or two straight, started getting surprise reward certs.

I used to go to best buy all the time and still get the certificates. Not so much anymore. In fact I rarely go there unless I'm trading stuff in. The last real purchase I did was an slr camera a month ago. Would be nice to get one to use on ghosts.

All I did was buy a 3ds XL there about 8-9 months ago and I got one. It's a 281 but better than nothing I guess.

why do i never get anything like this from best buy? Not once have i gotten this one year i called and they just gave me 10 for the hell of it...

Of course I don't get one, I hate you Best Buy.
Haha. Me to.

I used to get these all the time. It's been a few years now since I've gotten one.

I wonder if it's a coincidence that I stopped getting them when I started finding deals off of cheapssgamer and slickdeals? Because the timing would be about right. I'm sure with all the cheap games and blu-rays I buy, they know what I would buy if they gave me a $5 certificate. :ziplip:

As usual I didn't get one of these things.. real tired of being ignored by best buy when I'm a pretty loyal customer. Apparently they only send them to people who rarely go there.. I sent a complaint to customer service just for the hell of it, since I have nothing better to do. I had some other questions for them anyway. -_-

I got an email from Best Buy, but it says I owe them $5 in Rewards Points?!!   I guess they're not too happy about that -260 balance I have in points...

I had a negative balance of over 1,000 points at one time and I called them a bunch of times and eventually one of the CSR's have me enough points to be at zero.

Anyone get one of these today? Like usual, I haven't received anything, but wondering if people were still getting these emails today?

Received the Mystery certificate yesterday with a 281 code. Looks like a $5 certificate, but always better than nuthing  :whee:

Thanks for having this post, else wouldn't have checked my mail like always

Did even one person receive anything other than 281?

I never got these in the past, but I got a $5 one this year. FWIW, I am a regular member and haven't shopped at Best Buy in a squirrel's age.

Um, I think this guy down here? -v

I received a promo certificate that ends in 781. I wonder how much this one is worth?
Well, have you went to a BBY store to check yet? You never know, lol.

You know you can call BBY customer service line.....ask to speak to the MBB people.....complain about not getting a mystery reward certificate.....and they just might issue you one.

I didn't do it this time (yet) but I did it once before during a $5 cert thing and was issued one.

They know you won't spend just $5 so that $5 freebie is worth the loss to them to get you in the store.
