Pepsi's "Drink up, Rock out" promotion - Win DLC and Games! STARTS JUNE 2ND!

It's 5000 wins per *hour*. Now, common sense should tell you that the fewer people playing in a given hour, the better your odds. So play in the early morning/wee hours of the night and never, ever play in the middle of the day. Also, don't play too many times in an hour, because with each win you get in any given hour, your odds drop - as somebody said recently, you're competing with yourself. If you were really, really patient, you would play only one time per hour (and only in hours less likely to have lots of people playing), but I sure can't do that. :)

EDIT: also consider where you are in the US. Playing at 2 AM on the East coast is only 11 PM on the West!

No way. It's 5,000 tracks a day not per hour. lol. That would be something else. The per hour thing is 1 bundle win per hour.

Doh! Ok, you are right, though it is clearly the case that in the early morning I am doing *way* better then during the day. So those 5000 must be divided up among the hours, or in any case into some division which allows for better odds in the early morning. I can only provide anecdotal evidence for that. Namely that during the day I lose more often then win, in some cases losing 10+ times in a row, and at 5 in the morning I win more often then I lose, by a fairly wide margin.

Oh, and please don't enter the weekly contest for the 360 this week. I'm trying to win that and poor little me doesn't have a 360 or a PS3. :)

I know what you mean. I am doing the same thing. But it's funny because I am starting to get losers at that hour and figure it is either you or someone at the scorehero site who is doing the same thing.

208 X 24 = 4992. I am thinking maybe 208 per hour? And you have 8 leftover so you can put those in at anytime. A little over 3 winners per minute? Every 15 seconds a winner? Who knows? I've been trying to figure it out as well. And if they decide to give out more like in the early hours/late hours it can throw everything off.

Based on the sweepstakes info and when the contest officially began and ends, the daily times are most likely 12:01am ET through 11:59pm Et. using deductive reasoning I can almost be certain this is the time due to the official website stateing the last entry for instant win dlc is 11:59:59pm Et on 9/13. I also win alot more when I wait and play starting at this time, though loses still occur there not as frequent.

Since this thread is in the Contests & Free Stuff Forum, anyone can see this thread without registering an account. If you have a code, your best bet is to make folks PM you for it otherwise non CAGs are likely to pick up the code.

I think I'm pretty much done with going out of my way for this now, just wish I had gotten in on it sooner. I'm 17/25, with pretty much all of the losses within the past week. I'll still pick up a Pepsi when I'm thirsty, and use any caps I gain from friends, but I won't be going out of my way anymore to get codes with the win % dropping so much.

Why do some of you continue after losing. I usually win 8 or so times and then lose. I stop and save my points for the next day. Why waste 25 in a day? After 2 or 3 (at most) i'd give up and try a better time the next day.

Well, it's probably that less people are likely to think about drinking a Pepsi first thing in the morning. The "average" person (and by that I mean non-CAGer) probably drinks a Pepsi or two at work and enters the code at their desk or puts it in their pocket until they sit down at the computer in the evening. When I worked first shift I'd usually have a few spare minutes in the morning to check my email and stuff, but if I had an extra couple of minutes in the morning, I'd spend it sleeping instead of entering a code from a soda cap.

Well I'm batting about .500 thus far, but I've only entered about 10. If anyone has maxed out the pepsi DLC or is just looking to trade my-coke-rewards codes for pepsi ones PM me. I just can't drink too much diet Pepsi after Coke Zero.

out of 14 codes today I went 6/14 but the 8 of them I entered was during peak hours in the west coast so that'd explain why I probably got a lot of losses but I pretty much got all the DLC I wanted now :D

There... Satisfied

Found 6 caps at work today (my biggest find!) + drank a pepsi to get 7 caps. And just like the last time I played, I went 4/7. Still very happy to be getting wii points at a > 50% clip, especially with the many dwindling win percentages.

6/8 to me means "six out of eight". You mean 6/14. Think of it as a fraction. You get your percent by dividing the wins by the total number of plays. So you had a 43% win ratio.

I went 2 for 4 at about 12:10 AM and stopped because of that. I woke up at 5:10 am this morning (didn't set an alarm, just fortuitously woke up!) and went 11/12, 92%! Woohoo!

Oh, the American (math) education system... almost as bad as our English education.

And yes, this problem ("6/8") could be fixed two ways, either by putting it into its proper fraction (6/14 [which is just 3/7] as you already stated), or making it a ratio, which would read 6:8. When we make them ratios (as opposed to fractions) the information is sometimes more useful.

In this case (6:8) you are stating that for every six (6) wins, you have incurred eight (8) losses. Because ratios work similar to fractions and can be extrapolated out easily through multiplication, writing your ration as 3:4 means exactly the same thing: for every three (3) wins, you incurred (4) losses; the ratio stays the same, you just doubles the amount of times the ratio was applied.

See? Now you can claim that reading CAG has taught you something.

Lol don't see how that has anything to do with a bad American (math) education system...the person said 6/8 which should have been 6/14. If he were describing a ratio he should have replaced / with the ratio symbol : unless those are different in other countries? Lol idk. As far as reducing them, I don't really think that is necessary on here since most are just telling the total of what they have tried (thus the higher sample size would give others a more accurate ratio than smaller ones).

okay it was a simple mistake I didn't need the damned math police on my ass about it. but then I remember this is the internet and people have to feel their self worth by correcting other people.

Not doing any of the sort... saw that you were corrected, and decided to take it to the nth (LOL, MATH!) degree by explaining the two math functions you could have been referencing. It took about two minutes to write and was merely for my own amusement... do not be offended!

That's the real Internet: being offended, often wrongly, by other people. It's a non-verbal communication dead zone!

I'm not offended but I dunno I just get annoyed by the typical grammar police on message boards. Since in the end it doesn't matter as long as the message was understood through the end process. but yeah it's been a few years since I've done any heavy math of the sort I knew what I wanted to say but I put it in the wrong way and I shouldn't have taken it the way I took it so yeah I'll apologize if I came off as an ass earlier.

Since you've covered the math part, it's time for me to jump in and do some philosophy correction with you ;)

1/4, this morning.

Oh, well... At least I'm paying for these.

Yeah. Right.

i'm still doing pretty good. was like 43/43 before the win % drop, still 14/17 after. too bad i got all the songs i really want, and most that i only kinda want. still holding onto around 15 or 16 songs till closer to the end on the off chance they do add more songs.

I'm still rolling in Wii Points over here with 243 wins, 13 losses, and 57 points left. If only I could win the Rock Band game with all of these codes.

I should add that I am not fat nor diabetic. I don't drink Pepsi products.

I lost one at a normally good time yesterday but won today on my single cap from yesterday (from a bottle I bought). I've lost about 11/157. Almost done with titles I want on the VC. Then It'll be time to stock pile points. Got a month left still X_X

I couldn't resist and put in more plays. I ended up 36/42 for the morning - I sure can't complain!

EDIT: Overall 105/157. That's 67% and climbing.

EDIT2: FYI, I've spent $64.88 on caps on eBay and turned that into $210 in points/songs. That's a nice profit. A much smaller number of caps I got free (recycling bins) and a smaller number still I got from actual diet pepsi purchases. It doesn't count my failed bundle attempts and the codes I put into the weekly 360 console contest (when do they announce the weekly prize winners and do they notify you if you lost, or only if you win?) Probably all of those went into the bundle and console contests.

 You must teach me your ways.

I was 2/7 this morning and 19/42 overall.

Just won 1 out of 5 after taking a week off. 39 for 48 total. Wish I stacked some more points a couple weeks ago. Oh well, it has still been a pretty good run. I'll take the wins I have.

I've posted my "ways" several times now. Play early in the morning. I've been playing at just after 5 AM (eastern), right after I wake up. Make it easy on yourself and use your iPod touch or iPhone. You can roll over, press the "Play 1 Point" button, say, 10 times, then roll over and fall back asleep. :) Just use the link I provided in another post to get the real web page instead of their useless iPhone page.

Even though I have posted this info several times, it's still working, so either people are ignoring me, or there aren't enough people reading this to have any significant impact on the odds. Probably both. :) Or maybe I'm just incredibly lucky (ever since I started playing at 5 in the morning, and not prior.)

EDIT: Found in the FAQ that weekly drawings are carried out the tuesday after the end of the week's deadline. So tomorrow, for the period ending last night at midnight. It's not stated how quickly they notify you if you won, though.

Playing in the very early morning is definitely the best way to win. Ever since the winning percentage became less than 100%, I've played about 10 caps, 1-2 a day, at 5-8 am eastern time. I lost only twice. Overall, I am 36/38.
I'm starting to put codes in for weekly prizes. Anyone have luck on those?
I've seen a few people win bandmates.

I have a code for Smooth Criminal by Alien Ant Farm for the Xbox 360 and would be willing to redeem a cap for me, say for Lifeline by Papa Roach for the 360, please PM me. It would be appreciated.

Yeah, and I'll make matters worse by saying that I have the other two Papa Roach songs too. I don't know, I just like the songs.

But if someone is willing to make a trade, I would be appreciative.

So, when I've been checking for new songs, I usually check the last song on each page. Assuming that the pages are the same lengths (they are, save the last page) and that Pepsi wouldn't change that if they add more tracks, we'd see those songs change if more songs were added to the list. Unfortunately, we haven't seen new tracks in a while, but tomorrow's Tuesday and hope can spring eternal. :D

As of now, the current last track on each page:

Ben Harper -- Shimmer & Shine
David Bowie -- Moonage Daydream
Foo Fighters -- Times Like These
Guns N' Roses -- Madagascar
Jethro Tull -- Hymn 43
Machine head -- Aesthetics of Hate
New Pornographers -- Use It
Papa Roach -- Time Is Running Out
Red Hot Chili Peppers -- Breaking the Girl
Smashing Pumpkins -- Zero
Styx -- Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)
The Offspring -- All I Want
The Who -- My Generation (Live at Leeds)
Wolfmother -- Joker & The Thief

I do have "Time is Running Out" from the track pack. I was considering getting "Last Resort," though, as a guilty pleasure song I don't have to pay for.

Anyone want to trade for the "Real World" by the All American Rejects for the 360 preferably for Suck my Kiss for the 360 or Wii points. PM please.
