This release might actually push the price of part 2 up some more... much like how Atlus' numerous reprints of DDS1 pushed up DDS2 prices. And then they had a massive reprint of both games (along with Nocturne) and they've remained in stock since then.
 
Alright actually I just contacted that ebay seller to cancel my order, and in his reply he told me that the DS1 stock was indeed a reprint, and that Atlus would soon be reprinting DS2 as well.

Ok I just check my bank account and I have a statement for this order going through (debit) but also for the same amount being credited back into my account. Both on the same day.

I checked my amazon to see if it got canceled or something and it still says it was shipped and should be here between 3-11 and 3-18.

Did I just get this game for free? lol

Wow, if I knew that, I wouldn't have given mine to the gamestop employee and thrown away the box, as I just wanted the sealed game. Well, at least she felt that happiness.

This is the only game in the series I don't have. I'm torn whether I should buy it or not and I'd prefer to find an opened copy for a bit cheaper since I'd be wanting it to play anyway. Maybe I should hold off but I would like to know a number on these reprints.

Yeah, I just hopped on there and saw the $28~ with free Prime myself. Right at the exact price window I was willing to pay. :D Now to wait for the supposed Devil Summoner 2 restock! :3
 
I ordered a copy of this game from one of the third party resellers this week.

I've been waiting on this game for a long time--its been on my wishlist for years.

Years ago I bought the second game, the deluxe version with the plushie for like $20 and vowed not to play it until I got the first one. I wanted to play them in order, but the first game was always going for ridiculous prices, even used copies. That plushie has been sitting on my gameshelf, taunting me for years.

My cheapass doesn't care if this is a reprint. I'm just glad I'm getting it for under $40.
 
Went ahead and jumped on the $28 w/prime shipping. Also according to some Ebay listings the cover of the game is still holographic but I've yet to see proper confirmation from anyone whose got their copy.

The other SMT reprints took a long time to drop to $20. They were all $29.99 when they came out.

is this game any good? Lower metacritic score of like 73 saying lots of grinding and tediousness. Does the story make up for it?

$30 seems like a lot to pay, but would pay $20 for it.

That sucks for me... I still have my unopened original copy. It would have been nice if this reprint had a non-foil finish so that those of us who bought the game early could feel special.:3

And for those you ready to shout hoarder and whatnot, I know there is no rule about games getting reprinted and re-released but that's not what I'm complaining about. I just hate having to play mind games with Atlus releases. Do I buy now or wait for a price drop? If I wait, how long will it stay in stock? If it sells out, is it better to pay a premium now or will there be a reprint?

If those are the reasons you want their games then maybe you should just not buy them? Not really a good investment realistically.

Does the original have a white Devil Summoner sticker seal on the top like new PS2 games have? The reprint doesn't.

I received my copy today and can confirm it's the holographic cover.
