[ShinyLoot] 101 Days of Summer Daily Deals

shinyloot

Official Representative
Today our 101 Days of Summer Daily Deals has begun. For those interested in the mechanics of the sale:

  • Every day at midnight (CST) we will launch a new round of deals, up to 6 on Mon - Thu and up to 12 on Fri - Sun.
  • Prices will all be at, around, or below previous lows
  • This sale will run until September 7
  • Participating games will sometimes be repeated and sometimes not
I'll try to post updates here on which games are on sale, but I know I won't make it every day. With 24 hours to act it might be too late by the time you see it anyway, so I would suggest keeping an eye on the deal page.

I like how they have time to give Shiny Loot Steam keys but don't have time to put them in the accounts of everyone who bought their supposed Infinity bundle. fuckers.

If indef can keep this up for all 101 days, I'll buy him (assuming him) a game of his (again assuming his) choice.  (No Collectors Editions, please.)

Day 17.  Happy Father's Day!  Doing some last minute father shopping?  Bet he'd love a crapload of Earth 21xx games!  I know mine would.*

Earth 2140 XP - $1.00

Earth 2150 Trilogy - $1.25

Earth 2160 - $1.75

SpellForce Platinum - $2.50

Asguaard - $6.25

* disclaimer:  My father definitely would not like a crapload of Earth games, or any games for that matter.  Them things turn yer brain to mush.  But hey, if you're visiting this forum, chances are you already suffer from mushbrain so you might as well just go with it.

Slate Rock is mildly amusing in a really lite Clue / very short choose your own adventure done Weeaboo style sort of way. There's bad voice acting but that only adds to the charm and flavor. It's also done in RPG Maker (yes a visual novel made in RPG Maker) so it's really low res.

Also the developer absolutely positively will no way no how give you a Desura key for it even if you write a very polite email with your receipt attached asking very nicely. This is one of the very few indies (not publishers) that I've tried this on and it hasn't worked. He claimed he was taking it down from Desura but that was over a year ago so...

My Dad'd tell me "Son, those had better be on Steam or GTFO"
I was actually going to buy Earth 2140 there to save 10 cents WA sales tax from getting it on Steam but then I saw no Steam key.

Day 18.  In retrospect, tailoring all of my survival skills for the inevitable zombie apocalypse has left me wholly unprepared for zombieless situations.

Quick Slick Deadly - $0.69

Tower of Eglathia - $1.00

Jack Orlando Director's Cut - $1.25

Little Kingdom - $1.25

Subject 9 - $2.00 (steam)

The Guild 2 - $2.50

I see several games on Steam without a Steam key. Sorry, I must have made a wrong turn and went into the GOG threads.
Shinyloot really needs to step their game up in getting keys when a game is on Steam. I like what they're doing and would like to buy from them, but no Steam keys is an instant no buy.

Shinyloot, saving gamers from the evils of DRM.

Honestly the regular lack of steam keys on Shinyloot has mostly caused me to disregard them.

The thing is though they have some games with Steam keys. Desura too. So they aren't morally opposed to it like GOG they're just really inconsistent and don't try very hard to push the devs and publishers for those keys.

There's a handful of larger publishers where we have to choose DRM-free or Steam, and in those instances we choose DRM-free. The vast majority of indies that we work with directly though choose to provide both, and we do our best to stay on top of things. That's generally where the inconsistency comes from.

We choose DRM-free over Steam when we have to choose in order to differentiate ourselves from what are largely Steam key resellers such as GMG, etc.

With that said, I like to read the all the feedback!

I'm on mobile today. No amount of teddy bear backpacks is enough for me to figure out how to copy and paste links in this stupid browser.

We will consider your streak intact if you just post your Day 19 ramble without anything else.

We will won't we? Won't we?! Yes!

Day 20.  My attempt to escape on a raft built out of turtles has failed.  Excellent buoyancy, but they don't make very functional sails.

Meatballphobia - $0.75 (desura)

Wisps: the Redeeming - $1.00 (desura)

Shadow of the Game - $1.00

The Curse of Nordic Cove - $1.00 (desura)

The Guild 2: Pierats of the High Seas - $2.50

Day 21.   Always hit a soft 17, unless you're playing against monkeys.  They don't follow the rules anyway, and will probably just eat your painstakingly hand-crafted casino chips.

Sword of the Stars: The Pit - Gold - $2.60 (steam)

Sword of the Stars: The Pit - Pilgrim DLC - $0.50 (steam)

Cell HD: emergence - $1.20

The Guild 2: Venice - $1.25

Biting on Emerland because solitaire + hidden object.

I have it on Big Fish (hush). It's actually decent. I wish more solitaire games were on Steam. Faerie Solitaire was really popular so I think if others are well made and priced appropriately cheap they would do well there but I guess those devs don't realize there's a market for it and that Steam isn't picky anymore.

Also there's a mobile version of Emerland if you're into that sort of thing.

*Edited to add: I'm kind of bummed I missed Curse of the Nordic Cove, but I kind of stopped paying attention to the Shiny Loot sales for a bit because I just wasn't finding much with keys that I didn't already have and actually wanted.

I wish I could gift you one of the 12 copies of Curse of Nordic Cove I have on my Amazon account.

Was there a glitch or something? I really don't pay much attention to Amazon other than joining in the chorus of bitching.

Also I'm a client whore so it's pretty much Steam or Desura or TITS or Big Fish or GTFO.

It was one of Tony's last good sales a year ago when they were opening the Indie Store. You got three free games with any purchase and it rotated, but there was a glitch that if you bought 1 game you got codes for three free games, but using those codes to get the free game qualified you for three more free games in perpetuity.

It was great for stuff like The Maw and Huntsman which were Steam keys, but Nordic Cove was just a DRM free DL on Amazon. I just made the extra orders for the hell of it.

Amazon lists one DL link for me, but lists 12 different purchases. I demand 12 different DL links! Wish I could gift them out somehow or fit they would have gotten some sort of activation key (Desura at least).

The Nordic Cove dev gave me a desura key when I showed proof of purchase. You could probably get one too.. but I doubt he'll give you 12.

Hey there, do you know when Steam keys will be added for "The Few" now it's released on Steam? It was in Groupee's first ShinyLoot bundle.

Day 22.  Apparently some other digital retailer is trying to leech off the 101 Days of Summer sale by hosting a sale of their own.  What a bunch of scammers.

Oknytt - $1.00 (steam)

Tiny & Big in: Grandpa's Leftovers - $2.00

SpaceChem - $2.00 (steam)

Last Knight - $2.40

Doorways: Chapter 1 & 2 - $2.50 (steam / desura)

Dead Horde - $2.50

Gothic 3 GOTY - $2.50

The Guild 2: Renaissance - $2.50

Host Holic - $3.00

ArcaniA - Fall of Setarrif - $3.75

ArcaniA: Gothic 4 - $5.00

RPG Maker VX Ace - $17.50

I kind of want Host Holic and I think this is the lowest it has gone, but it's made in RPG Maker so it's going to be super low res and the dev is anti Steam and Desura hipster nerd counter culture so I'll pass. Maybe if it was a dollar. eh

Why don't these devs like money? I don't get it.

Day 23.  Go Red Team!  Oh, and starving, lonely, etc.

Star Hammer Tactics - $1.00 (desura)

Kingdom Elemental - $0.99 (steam)

Millenium - $1.20

Castle Dr. Acula - $1.25

Unhack - $1.25 (desura *yawnies*)

Metal Planet - $1.50

Expendable - $1.80 (available on PC CD ROM)

Data Hacker Corruption - $3.00

Book of Unwritten Tales - $5.00

Book of Unwritten Tales Digital Deluxe - $6.25

Unhack is weird. It's like Here's an Atari 2600 game that is in no way suggestive of sperm with a side of waifu.

Data Hacker is overpriced considering it's RPGMaker and has been in every bottom feeder bundle on the planet twice.

I really wanted there to be a game called castle Dr. Acula. I imagine it as a cross between Dr. Mario and the Count on Sesame Street.

Day 24.  Felt like having a picnic today.   Typically, I can suspend my belief with ease, but i'm having difficulty pretending this slurry of bugs and coconut milk is potato salad.

Mahjong World Conquest - $1.25

Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising - $1.50

DROD: The City Beneath - $1.99 (desura)

KarBOOM - $2.00

Wildlife Park Tycoon - $2.50

Millenium 2 - $3.00

Construction Machines 2014 - $3.30

Pro Riders Snowboard - $3.75 (with Motion Sensor Support!)

Helicoptor Sim: Search & Rescue - $4.95 (steam)

Flatspace IIk - $9.60
