Having said that, I'm posting mine, mainly for me. Screw everyone else! :speaktothehand:

I spent about $70, less than half of what I spent at Steam during the Winter Sale and about a third of what I used to spend. Some of it was a little splurgy (I'm going to blame no decent sales) and a few other things I bought because I just wanted them (Goat, Pinball, 7 Wonders).

Lesson Learned: DLC is expensive.

My phone, but even then it treats this new install as "new computer" oh well. 2 summer cards just sitting there to expire ;_; lol. oh well.

Anyway, guess I have to wait until the big enchilada of Steam sales: Christmas and New Years or what we call in our politically correct world: The Holidays.

Dredmor has been much cheaper in the past and used to be a stalwart flash/daily but, alas, no more. The DLC adds some nice content although it's more of the same and nothing revolutionary so if you think you'll play for another twenty or so hours, have at it.

One Way Heroics -- 87 cents... roguelike with what seem to be interesting mechanics

Prime World Defenders -- tower defense... $2. mixed reviews. anyone here play it?

Archon Classic - 99 cents. I played Archon in the 80s and loved it. so. i guess i need this remake.

nppd rush -- 79 cent twin stick shooter, i think? looks interesting.

still searching for last minute steals, especially TD and Roguelike. though i like dual stick shooters too, obviously.

The last 2 were recently bundled. But still good.

PW:D is a pretty good TD game. I like stuff like this so I'll play it regardless. My only gripe was the amount of farming required for all the achievements. First world issues.

Only if you are a TD collector, and even then, not for $2, as it has been bundled a few times. Lots and lots of grinding, not just to get achievements, but just to advance in the game. I love TD games, but gave up on this pretty quick. And this is after the dev made some changes to reduce grinding.

My Steam Sale Post-mortem:

So - I bought way more things than I should have this sale.  I think I did really well and got a lot of things I really wanted at decent discounts.  The total spent was pretty high for a CAG, but I justify it by the fact that I go into these sales prepared to buy and don't beat myself up over doing so.

I will post my haul if people are interested.

Overall, discounts not as great as in past sales, and specifically, DLC was not discounted along with base games, so somewhat of a disappointment there.  That said, I did not lack for things I wanted to buy, so I think I'm generally happier than some other CAG's with the sale as a whole.

Biggest disappointments were all community votes that lost:

  • Dominions 4 at 75%
  • Defense Grid at 90% off
  • Avadon 2 at (I think) 80% off
I'm considering a few last buys, but on the fence since I'm hoping they will go cheaper:  Fallen Enchantress LH DLC at 50% off, and Defense Grid at 75% off.  Should I or should I wait?  Thanks!

 
Has anyone played either/both of Divinity Original Sin or Age of Wonders 3 who can give a slight opinion on it? I'm building my final cart and wonder if one of these should make it in (or Shovel Knight).

If you like TD, then Defense Grid is IMHO the gold standard by which all other TD games are compared. $5 is a great value considering all of the levels and modes offered, plus the quality of production in the game. Seriously, must buy at $5 for anyone who even kinda likes TD games.

Defy Gravity Extended kind of sucks. It's very average...well a little below average but feels like a Klik and Play game. Very floaty controls, cheap looking graphics, almost no music....cheap sounds...just a low budget game I wouldn't recommend. I earned more money selling the cards than the game was selling for which i bought with card money but it's not very good.

Age of Wonders III is a pretty good strategy game and can stand its ground in a genre with other good entries. If you enjoy these games, you can't go wrong at all dropping $20 on it. The only drawback is if you're big into the genre, you're not going to really find anything you haven't spent 100s of hours doing already. Personally, I find most people that like any specific genre don't mind that, as long as the game is good. And it is.

Seconding skipping Lunar Pack and English Country Tune. Theres just not enough depth and both can be had cheaper than store price.

Defy Gravity is a neat little game for 0.29 + it has cards, so you will easily make that back if you sell them. Not played the rest of them.

DayZ can be bought as a standalone game now, you don't need Arma II anymore (unless you really want to)

EDIT: DayZ hit a daily deal but it was only 20% or 25% off, its cheaper to buy ARMA II + Operation Arrowhead to play DayZ mod
