All I really follow is the Disney/Pixar ones and they pop up sold out until they are actually available. If they are limited just keep checking every day or so. That's how I caught Boy in the Striped Pajamas. It lasted a few hours when it became available again.

You still have a chance since the release date isn't until Friday (3/7) and they are still taking orders online. If you'd rather go in person, just wait until the "in-store pickup" becomes available. Which will probably happen Thursday night or Friday morning.

 
Online has been showing sold out.  My suggestion is to check the website early Friday like 8am or 9am as they're bound to open up the orders for pickup, as they did with Thor.  That's how I got a copy of Thor.

It didn't work that way unless you used the mobile site for Thor. I never saw the main site work with in-store pickup, only the mobile one.

It's back available for pre-order/shipping, though in-store pickup is still neutered. Check back between 12AM - 2AM CT on Friday morning and see if it's available again.

I didn't use the mobile site to place my in-store pickup order for the Thor steelbook.

It worked for me, and I wasn't on mobile, I was using the full site on Firefox and experienced no issues.

 
I just found two Steelbooks in my drawer still sealed.  I'll probably throw on EBAY unless someone wants to make a fair offer here.  They are Brave and Finding Nemo (from Best Buy)

Oh good find. I liked those very much, although those aren't really steelbooks.
 
Just snagged both Hunger Games Steelbooks from Best Buy. They both look good. My location in May's Landing, NJ had a bunch of both with way more of Catching Fire.
 
I picked up the 2 Hunger Games steelbooks as well.  They had a good quantity of each at noon.

My only complaint is that the Catching Fire steelbook does not include the DVD, which the regular edition does.  There are no missing features, so it's not a big deal, just annoying to me that they do this.

Best Buy did something similar with the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Extended Edition 3D steelbook, excluding the 2D blu-ray from the set, which did result in missing features.

I just called them after cracking open my HG: CF copy to see if I had a DVD copy like the last post in the thread mentioned and found no DVD copy in there. They asked for my email address to send me an email asking for information, which is supposedly (waiting on the email) the following:

1) Name

2) Ship-to address

3) Phone #

4) Scanned copy of receipt

5) Digits from UPC on back of case (paper back cover)

Here's the email:

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your recent purchase of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Steelbook from Best Buy! Please provide us with the information requested below.
- Your first and last name
- Complete shipping street address (within the United States only)
- Phone number
- Copy of the receipt
- Complete barcode number on the back of the case

Please make sure that any images or attachments are less that 2.5 MB’s. File size restrictions may prevent us from receiving your photos.

Very nice indeed. That's a must-buy. No release date yet from anywhere I looked, so my guess is probably the next 2-3 months.

I'm happy it seems they are offering us the DVD for no additional fee.

Now that I have sent out the email all I can do is play the waiting game.

At this point I don't care of my Steelbook/br comes with a DVD copy as long as it has a UV/VUDU code in it.  But I do hate the fact that Disney pulled a fast one and pulled the DVD out of the steelbook and left the inners intact to indicate a space for the dvd.

Already received my DVD copy of Catching Fire, as it showed up at work when I was out of the office on Wednesday. Was shipped 2-day UPS.

I contacted them on Friday with all of the info, so it must have shipped on Monday. Was the DVD copy, in a plastic CD/DVD case, with a Lionsgate cardboard "bookmark" (looks like a wide bookmark, has the Lionsgate logo in the background and their company address + phone # at the bottom) that said the following:

Enclosed is your free copy of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire DVD.

Thank you and we look forward to your continued support and patronage of Lionsgate products.

A package from Lions Gate came today with a DVD copy of Catching Fire in it.  So they didn't bother sending The Hunger Games.  That's okay, I'm not going to complain.
