Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Blockbusters Facebook promo page:

Notable used game price drops

CAG Hawaiiboy let us know that a few notable games have had used price drops at Blockbuster. For the 360, Dirt 2, Mass Effect 2, and Operation Flashpoint are all now $9.99. Mass Effect 2, in particular, should be pretty easy to find as most stores seemed to have multiple used copies at $19.99 a few weeks ago. Please note that even though you may find a fairly mint and otherwise complete copy, you most likely won't get the Cerberus Network code along with it as these seem to have been removed by corporate before sending the games to the stores for rental. So if you want the free DLC that comes along with that you may just be better off buying a new copy for $19.99 somewhere. But if you already have the Cerberus code or just don't care for the DLC then this is a great deal.

Buy 1 Get 1 free on used games $14.99 and under is now over...

Below is a list of $14.99 and under games at Blockbuster that would qualify for the deal, were it still running...

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

Pure (PS3) - 9.99
PGR 4 (PS3) - Free

About 27 bucks, not bad. I also found Assassins Creed (360) and Burnout Paradise (PS3) for 10 bucks each at Wal-Mart. I'd buy more game but I need to wait for payday lol

Forgot to mention I found a copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 Special Edition for 6.99, but it was missing the bonus DVD - so I may hold onto the new copy I got from BB.

Edit - went back and got it anyway; maybe it can be trade bait. Also got :360: Legendary, QoS, and :ps3: R&CF: ToD (9.99!), Rainbow Six Vegas 2, and Lair. Thanks Blockbuster and TRU. I'll never get around to playing all these, now that I appear to have found a job.

Yeah, rumors of BBV's used game death seem premature. Here is the haul for the day:
14.99

Trivial Pursuit

Lego Battles
Sponge Bob Truth or Square
Princess and the Frog

6.99
PS2 Shadow of the Colossus

All of them at least have the right case, and about half of them have manuals. I didn't really mean to get the Tiger Woods game, but it ended up in the stack and I wasn't really paying attention, oh well, I can't really complain. Way more games than I guessed, and the stores with the best selections said they were getting even more games in the next couple of days.
Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 sounds good at 14.99. Time to head out.
If you were looking for the PS3 version of R6V2 I would tell you to check Sears, where it's only $6.97 new.

I almost picked it up at an out of town Sears I was at about 2-3 weeks ago, but with my backlog I shouldn't even be considering buying anything from THIS sale either.:bomb:

Picked up:

Rock Band 2 (360): $9.99
Lego Rock Band (Wii): Free
Folklore (PS3): $9.99
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3): Free
Hawx (PS3): $14.99
Prince of Persia- The Forgotten Sands (Wii): Free

I'll probably flip PoP FS with another game for the Halo: Reach deal. I thought the rest were just pretty good for the price ($5.00 to $7.50). Not a lot there at the stores I frequent, though.

Couldn't believe they had Shadow of the Colossus, there wasn't another 6.99 games so I got it with some 9.99 games. I think it was the only PS2 game I saw for sale at any of the stores. The 360 selection was also terrible. 2 stores had none at all, and the 2 others had old sports games and Avatar.

Picked up:

PS3:
-Beatles Rock Band $7.50
-Prince of Persia: $5
-Ninja Gaiden Sigma $5
-Lego Indiana Jones $5

Wii
-Toy Story Mania $7.50 (Thank you to the person that hid it behind the display case of Toy Story Mania)
-Avatar The Game $5

Saw Endless Ocean but couldn't find anything to pair it up with. One of the managers I talked to said he is pulling 27 games and let me look at the list so tomorrow I'm picking up Fallout 3 and Bioshock for $10 total =)

While driving around for work I managed to get to 8 BBV

I got 12 ps3 games for around $75 plus tax

$14.99 games
Hawx
Dark Void Free

$9.99 games
Motor Storm $9.99
Transformers Free

Damnation $9.99
Soldier of Fortune Free

Rogue Warrior $9.99
Icon Free

Ninja Gaiden $9.99
Kung Fu Panda Free (for the kids)

I also managed to get 2 $19.99 games at BIGIF The manager had to do an override

Darksliders $19.99
Bayonetta Free

Happy BBV day guys!

Looks like Ninja Gaiden is showing up at a lot of stores because one of the two I hit up today had it as well. It seems like there is a lot of games from sales from a year or tow ago.

Just a heads up. I saw some paperwork at Blockbuster today.

On the 30th. They are clearancing out new DS Lite systems for $80 each. The amount each store has is pretty limited. The stores around me the most any has is 4 while others are either getting 1,2 or 3. Managers should have paperwork showing which stores are getting what colors. Also, Employees are able to buy them apparently starting tomorrow.

Just a heads up.

Edit: I was told they are just DS Lite systems, but the manager also told me that one store has a pink one that is going to be clearanced. The only pink DS I see on Gamestop is a DSi.

Anyone that works for blockbuster have the info on this they can post?
might see about going by my local one tomorrow hopefully it doesn't get cleaned out before then
I highly doubt it would be. Half the ones I went to today didn't have any sort of signage up. The ones that did just had small signs right up the used games that weren't noticeable.

In previous sales there has always been signs on the doors and tables set up. The ones that had signs that I went to had all the games in the normal places and a small sign right about them in white.

Stopped at the local BBV about an hour ago and they had some games still behind the desk. There were no signs up, so I asked the clerk about the sale (he was the only person working). At first he said "oh, you're talking about the online sale". No, the B1G1 sale. "Oh, yeah. That started today. No signs are out because we're so far behind." He asks what console I'm looking for and pulls out a stack. He throws down a copy of Bioshock for PS3 from a pile of PS2 games. While he was shuffling them around I noticed a copy of Valkyrie Profile 2 for $6.99. I grabbed those and went to the used game isle.

Found a copy of Final Fantasy XIII for $29.99 and the last copy of Avatar for $19.99 (The only reason I picked this up is because the people here that talk about getting it. It better be good :p ).

I head to the checkout and Avatar was mis-labeled, rang up as $14.99. Paid a total of $40.63. The only game that had a manual was Avatar.

Think I will be going back tommorrow. They had many copies of Bioshock 2 for $24.99 and Resident Evil 5 for $19.99. Most all of the PS2 games were sports.

That's bullshit right there. Everyone should have a fair shake at getting a clearanced system.

The sale is usually only for games $14.99 and under and Avatar dropped to $15 recently, so it was just that they didn't re-label it yet.

Well i went couple hours ago and didn't see much. Borderlands for $30 is what im tempted on, Splinter Cell Conviction is $30. They had alot of $25 bioshock 2's and they had dark void for $10 and GOW3 for $35 but i didnt pick up anything.

I might head out tomorrow and see if they have anything else.

Has anyones BBV gotten more games in due to the BOGO? Mine has had garbage in for a while now I am not really in the mood to look.. However there is a big part of me that cant resist a good deal.. :)

Can anyone please confirm the price of tiger woods pga tour 10 for the wii? Its marked 19.99 at my store. As well, is prince of persia forgotten sands for all platforms marked down to $14.99, saw most at $24.99...
Edit: I was told they are just DS Lite systems, but the manager also told me that one store has a pink one that is going to be clearanced. The only pink DS I see on Gamestop is a DSi.
There was definitely a pink DS Lite. "Coral Pink", to be exact.

I went to about 8 today and NONE had new games in. All the same stuff that has always been there since they shipped the stuff out weeks ago.

Got Tiger Woods 10 (Wii) and Endless Ocean "something" Blue (Wii) both $14.99 and both are on the Trade 2 get $40 off list for Gamestop deal for Reach or Other M.

Thanks for the heads up on the sale!

Wow, so mine was actually prettttty stacked, they had alot of 9.99 and 14.99 games I just have to check and see which ones I can flip and I may head rite back out and buy some :) Granted there were a few I would keep. They had 4 copies of Dark Void 9.99 2 copies of UFC 2009 6.99 2 copies of NCAA 10 9.99... Dead Space 9.99 Wanted, Hawx, Prince of Persia, Avatar, Street Fighter IV, Assasins Creed and some others, cant remember them all. Too bad this is not for 19.99 or 24.99 they had a GREAT selection of those.

Yep, that's what sales like this are for. It exposes my true weakness, $5 games. I always say any game is worth $5 as long as you don't get the seizure that all games warn of. And when those games include things like Bioshock, Civ Rev and many other quality titles it is hard to not go ape shit.

I only managed to visit 3 stores today very quickly between classes. My stupid senior college classes started this week. Don't they know BBV is having a sale!? :p

Anyway, here's what I got

360
GRID 9.99
Civilization revolution 9.99
Avatar the game 14.99

Wii
Dead Space Extraction 14.99
Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands 14.99

PS3
Ridge Racer 7 9.99

PRICE DROPS.
One store had 360 Beatles Rockband marked down to 9.99, while ps3 was still 14.99.

I completely forgot about Wet being qualified for this sale until I read someone's list above. I definitely saw it somewhere today but it must have been marked 19.99 or something. :bomb:

I probably saw Tiger Woods 10 somewhere for 14.99 for wii, but forgot about that GS deal or I would have bought it.:bomb:

I also saw a few copies of the original Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. Is this worth flipping anywhere anymore? I remember when it used to qualify for the "Trade 2, get $40 off" deals at GS. This game seems more readily available in my area now than previous sales. They were still marked 9.99. I'd offer to send it to CAGs, but they had no cover or manual and I'm not optimistic about their condition.

There were lots of Guitar Hero games very cheap and more readily available. I forget the exact prices, but they had Guitar Hero III, Aerosmith, World Tour for (4.99, 6.99, 9.99, etc). They also had Van Halen tagged 19.99, but it could be cheaper. It might be worth checking.

If I think of more price drops tonight, I'll post them.

Also, a big thanks to whoever originally posted about Avatar dropping to 14.99. It was marked 19.99 and I wouldn't have known to buy it otherwise. :)

@ackbar7
Totally! CAG is a trap!
@SonictheHedgehog1337
My tues/thurs college classes started today too! I kept my priorities in order and skipped two classes to hit 2 blockbusters.

Lol, holy shyte, you've got more balls than me. I'm taking my last classes before I graduate and they are fucking hard as fuck. So I was scared to even be tardy on the 1st day.

You are definitely a better CAG than me. :applause:

Wowzers! Was tempted to go during my 2 hour break, but was scared I might be late coming back!

That must be the one that she was talking about then. Thanks.

BBV 1: Closing
BBV2: No used games for sale
BBV3: No used games for sale
BBV 4: Closing
BBV5:
iconwii.gif
Okami 9.99
M&S @ Olympic Games 9.99

Last one made the entire trip worth it. Now to keep an eye on the closing ones.

Yep, same stuff that I picked up from last sale. Though the Ninja Gaiden Sigma does intrigue me a little but, none of the BBVs near me have ever had the game so I think I"m good on this sale.

I'm sure I saw some of those listed games while out today, but wasn't looking for them. I could probably live with Metroid for $25 or less. Will have to go back tomorrow with money in my bank account.

I definitely saw two copies today (1 at each store) but they were both generic BBV covers. I remember I saw only one copy during the last sale out of many many stores. Take of that what you will.

Edit: Hey look, this is post #1000. Yay for me!

Correct.

Also, for example you cannot buy a 29.99 and a 14.99 game and expect the 14.99 game free.
