What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

Went by and they were pretty nice by printing out the PS3, XB360 and Wii lists, so I can figure out which was $14.99 and under. Only one store was doing the sale, the other wasn't. Unfortunately, the one that was had very little.

I went through the XBOX 360 games but the majority that I wanted were severely scratched up. Fortunately the PS3 games were much better.

They were also nice to price the large price ones first and lower price ones after. I ended up getting:

ARMY OF TWO (PS3) - I wanted the XB360 but oh well...): $14.99
FREE: Splinter Cell Conviction (XB360) - $14.99. the only game that wasn't damaged.

Darksiders (PS3) - $9.99
FREE: Bayonetta (PS3) - $9.99

Part of me wanted to get two games I had already and give them as gifts White Knight Chronicles for $14.99 and get Bioshock 2 for free.

Man, I thought the $19.99 games would be on sale....I was all amped to get "God of War III", "UFC" and "Dante's Inferno" but I was told $14.99 and under only.

I hope that my Blockbuster doesn't get cleaned out before tomorrow! I really want a copy of Bioshock 2 and would be thrilled to get a free game with it.

Fingers crossed as I did pretty well last sale even though I only made it for the last day.

I see people mentioning Risen and Operation Flashpoint, are they decent games? I haven't really heard anything about them and passed on them a few times today.

Also passed on Crackdown 2, Army of two 40th day, AvP, and Lost Planet 2 since I've only ever heard negatives about them.

Only picked up four games today. Trying to show some restraint;).

First had one copy each of
iconps3.gif
Dragon Age @ 14.99
iconxbox360.gif
Darksiders @14.99
Nice thing is that they were complete sets, which also looked like new. Darksiders is a double-dip since I had played htru it on the PS3 early in the year. The DA find was also good since I don't have to track it down from some other store's clearance.

Almost had a great find at another store. They stickered Just Cause 2
iconxbox360.gif
@ 14.99 but rang up at 24.99. They were going to give it to me at 14.99 but the problem was that the disc was really messed up. It looked like someone decided to trace circles onto the disc:bomb:. Last copy too.

Ended up grabbing Dante's
iconxbox360.gif
and Army of Two 40th

I think most stores have multiple Bioshock 2. It looks like one of those games they had too many rental copies of from the beginning. You shouldn't have a problem finding that. Now, getting another good $14.99 game along with it might be tricky.

Operation Flashpoint isn't too bad... If you have someone to play with it can be a really fun game. It is very tactical based and requires good communication.
As for Crackdown 2, it is fun with a group of people.
Army of Two: 40th Day and Lost Planet 2 same as OF... You need people to play with and then it can be a hell of a lot of fun.

As for me...

I ended up hitting one more BBV after work and got:

PoP Forgotten Sands
Operation Flashpoint
Wet
Wolfenstein

Wolfenstein is the only game that didn't have a manual... And the guy working at the store hooked me up with a manual for Darksiders out of the rental copy since I wasn't able to get one earlier in the day.

I got all the games I wanted and ended the day with 10 games for $46.xx and $22 worth of credit. I am definitely happy with this sale, I will never complain about 10 games at $6.8x a piece.

So this sale was definitely worth it for me this time around... Hard to believe that a BBV B1G1 sale was this good to me and I didn't even do any flipping (except the FME to BBV).

Good luck to the rest of you.

P.S. Now if only Just Cause 2 and Assassins Creed II would drop for next week.

I passed on Army of Two: 40th Day, and I'm beginning to regret it. I bought WKC and paired No More Heroes 2 with it, but now I'm thinking I should have gone with Army of Two. NMH2 may be a little too over the top for me, but I'll give it a shot anyway. Hopefully, it turns out to be a pleasant surprise...

Picked up a couple more, so my total haul (and I think I'm done) is:

:360:Crackdown 2
:ps3:Alien vs Predator
:ps3:Army of Two: 40th Day
:ps3:White Knight Chronicles
All of the games had either dust or fingerprints/smudges on them when I got them home.:bomb: I have to wonder how people handle the game discs that virtually every one I've bought recently regardless of the platform has had smudges or fingerprints all over it. And what's with the dust that seems to be on every used disc I get lately too.
Got Army of 2 40th Day and Iron Man 2. Glad they both came in original cases. I'll have to wait to get games again until next week for payday and for school to end.
I passed on Army of Two: 40th Day, and I'm beginning to regret it.
I've seen a lot of people say the same thing in this thread. I haven't played 40th Day, but I did play and beat the original Army of Two. It was a really solid title. It had its quirks, but it was a competent Gears of War clone. I picked up 40th Day in this sale, and think it will absolutely be worth its $7.50 price tag.

I put this offer out last BOGO, but no takers. I still have a manual for Toy Story Mania. I did not find any this round and I am done until Monday (price drops please) so PM me if anyone wants it.

Both my BBVs had tons of games, but when I went to the counter, none rang up at the sales prices. For example, Transformers was still 35, and Dantes Inferno was still 19. This was after they scanned it in, too.

Anyone know what the deal is with this? I thought the computer was supposed to be updated.
Star Ocean the last hope for 360 is $14.99 - I snagged a copy during sale
Nice...... that one dropped from $19.99 right after the last BOGO. I was watching one copy, but it was gone when I looked for it on my pre-sale recon.

Ah, my fault entirely. Thanks for the clarification.

Also its possible they might have scanned them wrong. Make sure they scan the white sleeve they keep the game in, not the case.

I really hope Bad Company 2 drops next week...I picked up Crackdown 2 and White Knight Chronicles today, I'm thinking of going back and picking up Darksiders and Dante's Inferno but my backlog is so big right now!

Question to anybody who knows the answer...

Many times I see copies of games without the original case for LESS then the copies w/everything. Is this common practice or ymmv? Curious because often it's a $5 difference and they have both a BC2 with and without the case so if they do normally drop the price it would be 14.99 and qualify for bogo.

Got Splinter Cell: Conviction and Darksiders for 16.04, wanted something 14.99 to match up with Splinter Cell, but I own everything else at that price. Still a good deal for a couple of games that I will add to the backlog.
Damn....I guess I have to go back tomorrow as my store had no signs up at around 11:00am today.
Signs wont matter, it will ring up in system when they click total. Neither store i got games from had any signs.

Was going to pick up Darksiders for 360, but it was incomplete. Had Just Cause 2 scanned today for 360-still $24.99. The store I went to DID have manuals available behind the counter, I asked.

Picked up:
Draw to Life (wii)
Guitar Hero Van Halen (wii)
No More Heros 2 (wii)
Spongebob Truth or Square (ds)

All 9.99. All have manuals and cases except No More Heros 2 which has only disc. I don't see that on the list and GH: VH was cheaper than listed. I guess YMMV. Checking out a second store tomorrow.

Picked up 4 games and that was showing massive restraint, lol.

SC Conviction
Crackdown 2
Risen (been wanting to gamble on trying this, finally at the right price)
Army of 2 40th PS3

My BB had a great selection
Question to anybody who knows the answer...

Prices are the same regardless of completeness. What you're seeing is probably either:

1) Mistagged games that the employees missed at the last restickering (but will ring up at the correct price)

2) Special "prepacks" (clear case, no art/manual) that are priced $6.99 or $9.99

I went to a BB tonight and Saw Bioshock 2 14.99 and they had white knight chronicles for 19.99! I'm thinking that maybe I should have had them price check WKC for me to make sure that it wasn't 14.99... cause I think I would have been more than happy to pick up those two games. I'm going to try out a BB in the morning near my job! I got some good pickins from there last time.

so after going to another 3 BB tonight, I picked up 2 more Socom Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP....BB has them for $10 and they currently trade in to GS for $10. I hope the TIV sticks at GS until the extra 50% bonus starts because I should be getting $16 for each. I don't know if anyone has posted that flip anywhere here in the forums yet...and if not, well there ya go.

Prototype (ps3)
Sonofabitch. I would've picked up :ps3:Prototype with :ds:Mario Party earlier at the first BBV I hit that had the four scratched to shit :wii:Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics in lieu of picking up M&SWO had I known it qualified.

Then again I already finished the game and I'd just be buying it again to be able to fling cars at random peds for shits and giggles.;)

Picked up the following, all for XBOX:

$14.99
Dante's Inferno
Splinter Cell Conviction

$9.99
Lego Rock Band
Wolfenstein

My visit to a few Blockbusters was pretty good today. I got:

Mass Effect 2 - Xbox 360 - $9.99
Wolfenstein - Xbox 360 - $9.99 (Free) - missing manual
Bayonetta- PS3 - $9.99
Risen - Xbox 360 - $9.99 (Free)
Aliens Vs. Predator PS3 - $14.99
White Knight Chronicles PS3 - $14.99 (Free)

That's what I did to the discs when I got home, but some pieces of dust/specks/smudges/fingerprints seem resilient and take more brisk rubbing to eliminate them than I even dare use on a Blu-Ray disc. Case in point, the MX vs. ATV game I bought looked like someone sneezed on the damn thing cuz there was a bit of a spray pattern on it.:whistle2:#

Unfortunately this sort of sloppy appearance is common with rental games, as people don't really take care of something that isn't theirs and the people checking the games back in don't check them too thoroughly.

There were a good number of games that were not priced correctly like WKC. I was lucky the employee let me look through her printouts for price listings (and quantitles) for PS3, XB360 and Wii titles they had in their store. But our store had WKC stickers at $19.99 but it was $14.99.

The regional manager at a local store brought 2 more games for me during his rounds to some of the other stores. No wonder why Blockbuster chose this person to be the Regional Manager.

Below are the games that I had picked up so far from the only Blockbuster store in town.

And thank you to all of you veterans who had offered to help me out.

:ps3: Bioshock 2 $14.99
:ps3: Resistance: Fall of Man Free
:ps3: Ninja Gaiden Sigma free

:360: Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 $9.99
:360: Mass Effect 2 $9.99
:360: Gears of War Free

All the :ps3: games are in perfect conditions. GRAW 2 didn't have the manual, and the disc was very scratched up. Gears of War's disc was also all scratched up, but not as bad as GRAW 2. I was able to install both GRAW 2 and Gears of War onto the hard drive, and I was able to load both games. Do you guys think they will be okay to play in the long run since they were able to be installed on the hard drive even though they are all scratched up.

The only other games I'm looking for now are Mass Effect and Uncharted. I got Uncharted 2 from the Black Friday 160gb PS3 bundle, but I was told not to play it until I played Uncharted 1 (same thing with Mass Effect). This Christmas is the best one yet for this late-thirty years old. Thank you all.

:puke: I was trying not to think it was that on the disc. So thanks for reminding me. :puke::puke::puke::whistle2:#

Either way the indeterminate substance that was on the disc came off with a little rubbing.

If you don't mind spending a bit more money and haven't played the other two games(Tomb Raider Underworld, Mercenaries 2), then you could just buy the ESA Game Pack which Gamestop and Best Buy are both selling now for $30 and get a copy of Uncharted with those other two games.

Relatively successful haul:

Dragon Age: Origins

Dante's Inferno

Darksiders

Bioshock 2

Dragon Age was for some reason stickered as $9.99, so I thought I just got lucky and they price dropped it today. Nope...rang up as $19.99. Employee was nice and honored the stickered price though.

I went to two different stores in Los Angeles, and neither had a huge selection. First store had no signs and no awareness of the sale. Second store had signs, but I'm pretty sure I was first to take part in the sale at that store at around 2 PM. BBV's are generally dead in LA, which is both a good and bad thing in this instance.

Picked up Bayonetta for 360, got Toy Story Mania for free. Flipping that immediately to Amazon to get trade credit for the wife.

I've got a Best Buy $10 certificate burning a whole in my pocket, gonna get them to price match FME and then clean up on the remaining $9.99 games I want.

I've seen FME been thrown around as abbreviation here lately. What game does it stand for, and where is it everyone finding it so cheap? Can't for the life of me figure it.

Picked up boom blox bash party and dead space extraction for 10 total. Went to 4 other blockbusters and nada for me.

Front Mission Evolved

Gamestop has both the 360 and PS3 versions on their website and in-store for $19.99 for new copies and $17.99 for used copies. Amazon has matched the $19.99 new price for both consoles.

Moreover, Blockbuster is giving $22 a copy in trade-in for it.

Sweet picked up Bioshock 2 at $14.99 and Darksiders for free, for ps3! At the closest BB to my home. May have to find another one maybe by my work heh

Traded 4 total copies of FME at 4 different stores for a total of $88 in BBV credit. Spent that $88 plus an additional $2.03 in cash (gasp!) on a total of 14 games. All of them except one should be at least marginally profitable trades to GS. SC:Conviction is for me to eventually play. And two or three others I may play a little before I trade them. And almost everything was complete and in an original case, which was a pleasant surprise. Pretty good day.

Wow; can't wait to read through this thread. I left this morning on page 12 before I hit up some BBV's, then had to go straight in to work. I had first pick at 3 stores, and had some EPIC scores...can't wait to see what everyone else got!
