What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

I went to another store last night on my way home, picked up:

:360: FEAR 2 - $9.99
:360: Street Fighter IV (free)

ALMOST picked up Ghostbusters & Burnout Paradise, but decided against it.
is this sale at all bbv? I went to one that wasn't even closing and the employee said there is no b1g1 sale and the second one I went to had freakin nothing but army 40th day and bioshock 2 and I even asked if people came to buy the games and he said no, wtf
gonna try out some more tomorrow since I have like 6 around me but I have no hope since the two I went to are usually the one with the most games
Just try having them ring it up or checking in their little "event booklet" that the managers leave for them...at my store they even had to call their manager once to check. It overrides it automatically in the system so the employees don't need to know about it. However from what I understand if it's a privately owned franchise then they don't have to (and usually don't) participate in the sales.
Anybody play crackdown 2 yet? I heard that it was awful, but reviewers have been wrong before...
General consensus seems to be it's not a broken game, but it's WORSE then the first one. If you liked the first one you may get some enjoyment, or if you're planning on playing co-op. Personally I'd just go with the first one if I were you, assuming you don't have it.

Picked up

:360:Crackdown 2
:360:Darksiders

for around $16. Not bad! I've been pining over Crackdown 2 since it was released and Darksiders looks ok though I don't know much about it.

I was tempted on :360:Dante's Inferno but ultimately passed since I didn't see anything to pair it up with, mostly copies of Bioshock 2, Splinter Cell and Army of Two. I was really hoping to find Mass Effect 2 and Dirt 2 but neither of the stores I visited yesterday had those. I'm debating going out tonight to check the one store left in my area that I haven't been to yet but I kind of figure most of the fireworks are already over by now.

Pretty happy with my haul. Got some as gifts for my kids, and some for friends. Didn't bother flipping this time around, still have 4 digits of GS credit. All are complete and in good condition.
Anybody play crackdown 2 yet? I heard that it was awful, but reviewers have been wrong before...
I liked it. The bad reviews that I saw were mostly because it was Crackdown 1.5. And to me, that's not such a bad thing.

Post for waht systems if you find a copy that qualifies please, I saw people mention these, but no system.

Final Fantasy 13
Oblivion GOTY

i was all excited to find dante's inferno for ps3 but they rang it at 20 (now i see people got it for 15?!?!

same thing with DA:O (360) and avp (360). the managers said the prices for 360 were different than those on ps3

Exactly. If you're paying $60 for Crackdown 1.5, then it's not so good. But if you're paying $7.50, then you have no reason to complain.

So the b1g1 sales is running til January 3 which gives us 2 more opportunities for price drops. Price drops seem to happening every 2 weeks now instead of weekly so if the trend continues, no changes this week. Ill post if one happens to come thru on sat or sun.

is the Dragon Age Origin's for ps3 as well as 360 for $14.99??? if so I may have to scrounge

Yes it is.

Those have been the prices at my Blockbusters. If someone found Dante's Inferno for PS3 at $15, it was likely a mislabel by that store.

Well here's to hoping for a BC 2 price drop then!

I am in shock right now. This is what the CSR told me at one of my BBV's yesterday - He actually got this info correct.
Is the TIV for FME still holding for both PS3 and Xbox360?
There were people yesterday who confirmed that the TIV held, so it should hold until next Monday (I believe).

So TIVs can't change mid week? Still $22 for both of them?

EDIT: Wow cool, thanks all

I should check out another Blockbuster...

So far, I nabbed Lost Planet 2 ($15) + Crackdown 2 [no manual] (free) for my brother. And No More Heroes 2 ($10) and PS3 Darksiders [no manual] (free). Mostly just a bunch of Bioshock 2's and Splinter Cell: Conviction games in the bins I looked at. Wii and DS titles were cleaned out.

Still havent headed out to my bbv to see what I can find, but they hardly move anything so I feel safe.
For those on the fence about Darksiders or Dante's Inferno, go pick them up. As you can see in my sig, I've been playing DI for the past couple days. Both are the GOW type game, Darksiders has more of a Legend of Zelda feel to it as well. Especially if you have a :360: since we dont have GOW or Zelda on that console. DI is more epic in scale than DS but both are very fun. The QTE in both arent as bad or drawn out as in GOW but there are plenty of them. I wish I wouldve known this B1G1 was coming as I got both DI and DS from GS last B2G1 sale.
Is the TIV for FME still holding for both PS3 and Xbox360?
What game is FME? I can't figure it out and is't buggig the crap out of me.

I don't know if I got lucky or not, but I got Spider-man shattered dimensions (WII) for 9.99 and threw in Ace combat (360) just to fill the order.
My BBV had copies of Bayonetta and Darksiders, but the discs were all thrashed so I backed off.

You got lucky as web of shadows or friend or foe are $9.99. Shattered dimensions is supposed to be $34.99
That's like the 4th time someone has asked this question. If you can't be bothered to read the thread, perhaps Google can help you?

http://www.google.com/search?q=fme+...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
What is Google? Just kidding. I finally figred it out. And I have been reading this thread from the get go. I even went back several pages, reviewed the list of games in the original post, and even looked at the list of games in the TIV list, but didn't see it. I guess I must have missed it. Oh well, I should have went to Google in the first place.

FOR ANYONE WHO HAS PLAYED MASS EFFECT 2!!!

I got it during this sale. I have not played the first. I heard that you can use your character from the first in Mass Effect 2. Does this provide an advantage or should i just start it with Mass Effect 2? Thanks.

Actions you took in ME1 will be pulled into ME2. If you let certain characters die, they will be referenced in ME2 differently. Certain encounters in the game will work differently. Nothing game-changing, so do what you want. but I'd personally recommend importing your character to continue the story you created.

YMMV but I've seen The Beatles: Rock Band Special Value Edition bundle (Xbox 360) on clearance for $39.99 new at a couple different Blockbusters.

Here's some used prices to a few less common findings:

:wii: MySims Racing $14.99
:wii: Boom Blox $9.99
:wii: MySims Party $9.99
:wii: Super Mario Galaxy $14.99
:wii: Okami $9.99
:wii: Pikmin $9.99
:ps2: Rogue Galaxy $4.99
:ps3: Tekken 6 $9.99
:ds: Mario Party DS $9.99
:ds: GTA Chinatown Wars $6.99
:ds: Phoenix Wright Justice for All $4.99

Anyone know if the buy $25 gift card and get $5 gift card free is supposed to be going on right now? Two stores I went to had it posted, at one of these I bought the cards and it went through fine. Two other stores told me it was available around thanksgiving and wouldn't be back until the week before xmas. One of those stores didn't have B1G1 advertised and most of the games had tags that were months out of date, so I'm hoping they're just unaware.

Plus, your character can get tons of money, etc. if you have a ME1 save.

I haven't played the first one so I would have to get that one. Not sure if I want to go through the first one at this point.
Don't buy ME2 used there is a one time use code that's required for any of the DLC. just fyi
None of the stores I went to had the code. I figured for $5, it's not the end of the world to not play the DLC.

I was able to get Split/Second (360) for $14.99

for some reason my receipt lists Risen three times, at various different prices, it's confusing. I didn't buy any copies of Risen so idk.

My only issue is now that I'm home, I realized 6 out of the 8 games I purchased are in hideous condition, the discs are scratched to hell and back. Will they allow me to swap 6 of them out for better discs?

Why not just check the games while in the store? It would save the time and aggravation of having to go back and hope like hell they can figure out why your transaction appears to have glitched.

Although maybe it's not so much a glitch as someone switched cases/artwork and put the manual/artwork for S/S into a case with the barcode sticker for Risen. I've seen that done before at my closest store and I brought it to the attention of the employees.

Holy crap on a cracker. Split Second is $14.99 !?!?
Holy crap on a cracker. Split Second is $14.99 !?!?
It was probably a case of either an employee using an old case that had a UPC sticker on it for an older game or a customer tried swapping out the case/artwork and intended to come back to grab it at the cheaper price.

^^ Split/Second was marked with stickers that said $14.99, and there were 3 copies, so I don't think it was someone switching cases, but instead employees may have mis-marked them. This is further confirmed by my receipt saying $24.99 next to Split Second lol. but the disc is so scratched!, I want to try to switch it out with another copy but idk if its worth the risk

People need to clarify when they post this crap and throw around misleading information. If you want to brag do it properly.

Guessing GoW3 was mispriced?

had to use my webcam, sorry for the poor quality.

but you can see Split/Second at the top for $24.99, and you can see the weird Risen glitch, it's there three times with various prices being deducted/added. I don't know how that happened >__

Not bragging, and it wasn't mispriced -- just scanned improperly I guess.

Cool down, man lol.
