What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Amazon or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Blockbuster's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Most regular Blockbuster stores do not sell new hardware at all. They did a year ago or so and some may still have some of that stock, but they have stopped bringing in more to sell. They also no longer sell new games except for a few selected preorders. Regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

The manual thing is easily fixed(grab one from GS;)), but why is it that so many people feel that the DLC voucher(s) should be included or it's a no buy for them. These are USED games and unlike Gamefly(which stores the cases/artworks/manuals/DLC vouchers) these cases are used for display purposes, so chances are one of the people who either rented the game or looked at the case either stole the voucher or snapped a cell phone camera pic of it and it's likely gone.

You're not OWED the voucher when buying used. It's a nice bonus to a used purchase, but it's not a deal breaker for me since most DLC is crap anyway.
Don't know if this was a mistag or an unreported drop, but I saw X360 Alan Wake with a $14.99 sticker on it. I didn't try to buy it because it didn't have the manual or the signal DLC. But might be worth price checking if you've been waiting for this one to drop.
I was looking for Alan Wake and found 3, all with different prices but none $14.99 :(
Stopped by BBV again today. Latest pickups:

Tatsunoko vs Capcom Wii $14.99
Mario & Sonic at the SUMMER Olympic Games Wii $9.99FREE

Animal Crossing Wild World DS $14.99
Mario Super Sluggers Wii $9.99FREE

If anyone can get Zelda Spirit Tracks or Mario Party for DS, let send me a PM. I can pretty much get any clearance game. Thanks!

Were those on the same transaction? If so, you got a dick employee
Why does it have to be a dick employee? Hawaiiboy, whats the store policy on this. Anytime I have ever purchased B1G1 at Blockbuster or anywhere else it's always the less expensive item free. Maybe the guy just needs his job and doesn't want to do anything to screw it up.

Maybe it's just your stores but every one of the stores I hit up this time did the transactions so the $14.99 games were paired up with other $14.99 games and so on.

But in times past I've had them do seperate transactions for the like priced games in the event I got an employee like the one mentioned above.

He was charged an unnecessary 5 bucks, thats why

OK, I only have one close to me and I paid for the higher priced games out of the 6 that I bought. Guess I had a dick employee too.
Unfortunately we received the last and final price drop for the sale. The only thing listed is medal of honor $34.99. Boo. I wish I had better news but I guess the Bbv thread will die until the next b1g1 which will probably be a while. Happy new year to everyone even those who ask "what are the price drops for next week"
I just read back the last few pages hoping to not see something like this. Oh well, there were so many great games available during this B1G1. I was just hoping for one more drop.

Thank you again hawaiiboy. My backlog is even more disgusting and awesome: 330+ xbox 360 games, 80+ Wii games, and 30+ PS3 games. This is from years of being on CAG and years of B1G1's at BBV. There's no way a single human being can play all these damn games.:)
If a game trades in for $2, but you paid $5-7.50 for it, then HOW are you making money on it if you trade it into Gamestop for the 5/$20 deal?

$20/5=$4

So let's say each game from BBV you buy gets $2.25(just barely enough to qualify) there. That's $6.48 per game after promo bump and PowerUpRewards 10% for:)lol:$.23) a net loss of $1.02 per game.
For $7.50 games, sure. You would make a very small amount on $5 games ($9.99 B1G1) if they traded for $2 though. It wouldn't be worth it, but at least you wouldn't lose anything ;). On the other hand, they might be good to build up a 5-game trade to get better value for some other things. For example, I have 3 games I want to trade but since I need 5 for the $20 deal I need to find 2 more. I was hoping to find some cheap stuff at BBV yesterday but beyond a lone GH Van Halen for PS3 I couldn't find anything else.

Yeah, this sale has been run so many times over the last few years that most of the clerks I dealt with this time have been very good about pairing stuff up in the appropriate way. It is NOT appropriate to take one of your $14.99 games and pair it with a $9.99 game when you have 2 of each. Yes, technically that is the cheaper item, but anyone with any common sense would buy 2 $14.99 games together and the 2 $9.99 games together even if that took different transactions.

It has nothing to do with screwing up their job. I've seen countless store managers instruct clerks to ring things up in like-priced pairs. It is the way it is supposed to be done.

Now, how they do this is YMMV. Some realize they can just hit total between each pair, and others think they need to do different transactions. I don't really care as long as it gets done ;).
God of War III
Resistance 1 & 2
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction & A Crack in Time
Folklore

I think that's about it for the exclusives worth getting. Besides God of War III, most of those will probably be hard to find at this point.
Looked for the games, the only one I found was God of War. But I found Nier and Dantes Inferno which I didnt have and got a second copy of God of War to make four games for $30.00. Good Deal.

If anyone is looking for God of War III or Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, I'll be willing to trade for a wii game that is 14.99 preferably a mario game. shoot me a pm if you're interested.

Can I brag for a moment? I'm driving home from the holidays - Indiana to Kansas - and stopping at each BBV off the interstate. So far I've seen what you all have seen, tons of GOWIII and Bioshock 2, not much else. After so many stops I lost track, I was discouraged and said this BBV would be the last one. Well lo and behold, I walk in and there sits Dragon Age PS3 and Resistance 2, both mislabeled at 19.99!!! This was one of my favorite CAG moments and a great ending to what had been so far a pretty depressing day.

Nice! I haven't seen Resistance but have seen Dragon Age tons of times. I am finding it hard to find the elusive Singularity(only got 1 copy).

Anyone know where I can go to find a manual for Ratchet A crack in time? I need a complete copy.

:applause: It only took almost till the end of the sale and searching 3-5 BBV stores for me to find a lone copy of DA: O, but it was worth it. Now if I can just find the manual for that and Kane & Lynch: Dead Men I'd be happy as my whole collection would be complete/mint.

It's not very smart to go into BBV hoping to make bank at GS by trading in the sale games unless you check JP's Gamestop trade value thread beforehand and only buy the games with $6+ values to trade in there.

Otherwise you're giving them games at a loss.:booty:
there are games that sell for 3.99. Tons of ds. Just was guessing. I just do the amazon thing. Got a few dirt 2 for ps3 and sold them for 35.96 counting dag on fees. but only 1.95 to ship and they give you 3.99
I just read back the last few pages hoping to not see something like this.

There's no way a single human being can play all these damn games.:)
lol u are like me, I just can't get enough of games. Getting them is now fun than playing them. Some guy opened a game store and want to buy my stuff since I be on craigslist al the time. Thanks to cag, I can pay for school, my car, rent, and play all the games i want, till i sell them

BFBC2 for 360 is $14.99, and for PS3 is $19.99. Dragon Age Origins is the opposite. This has been known here for a while ;).

Come on guys, lets dig deep on this last day and scope out any last minute pick ups! :)

I think Blockbuster is a force to be reckoned with if they can release software like Netflix did on all major platforms (360, PS3, Wii) and PC for Streaming content. This will give them the upper hand with streaming and if they could be able to get rights to stream whatever DVDs are in there B&M Stores, this will save them. Even if they couldnt do streaming new releases on DVD/BluRay release date, they would have the upper hand if they allowed you to return your dvds by mail to ANY BBV store, and also, return any rental from ANY BBV to ANY OTHER BBV. This would be truely convenient for the consumer, and since they have added games to the mix (the $9.99 1 disc out at a time plan) they have the upper hand on Netflix, who only does movies, and the upper hand on Gamefly, who only does games. Come on BBV, wake up and get this done! Id hate to see anymore stores close, especially with great sales like this one that ends TODAY :(

I hit my two closest stores last night after deciding to go against my better judgment and pick up Dead to Rights Retrobution. Both stores sold out of it. I couldn't believe it.

Nobody is going to potentially risk their deal with Netflix to get a deal with a company on the verge of disappearing.

"Could have, should have, but didn't" will be the words on Blockbusters tomb stone.

So youre saying like EA Did with Madden, Netflix signed exclusivity rights to be the only streaming carrier on 360, PS3, and Wii? I find this hard to believe, even with the Zune Marketplace on 360, even though it is Microsoft owned. I think youre wrong.

Netflix major deal was picking up the rights to stream STARZ. That agreement is coming to a close soon and it's expected that Netflix will be asked to pay ALOT more for the same content especially now that streaming has become more mainstream. To get into the game BBV will need to compete at the new pay scale, without the subscriber base netflix enjoys.

It is just not going to happen, BBV will continue to downsize until it becomes a via mail / kiosk only company. The only thing they have going for them is their agreement to distribute dvd's early, and in all honesty who "really" cares about that.

The only folks who can really compete are the content owners themselves, and they would have to come together to do that effectively, also IMHO not going to happen. Maybe Disney can corner the 0-16 yr old market.

If you still own stock in BBV your just waiting for it to disappear.

Considering I had 2 of the 3 games from my Blockbuster Online trial go "missing" after I RETURNED THEM TO THE STORE, I have no intention of ever paying for another rental from BBV again. I'll pick over the B1G1 sales till they finally die all together.

Blockbuster would be too late to the party for streaming media. Netflix already has a strong foothold in this market and with DirecTV doing it now for free(charges for new releases) the major cable companies will be quick to follow.

I didn't say that Netflix has exclusive rights with the console manufacturers  (although it wouldn't surprise me ;)). What I'm saying is that Netflix may threaten not to re-up with someone if they also offer Blockbuster. Netflix is available through every kind of device from almost every manufacturer. They still would thrive without consoles. IMO, Netflix's future looks way more promising than Blockbuster's. It's a risk I sure wouldn't take.

Whoa!

I thought that I'd check out a few Blockbusters on my way into work this morning and absolutely nothing! It's almost like they pulled everything...or someone came by and cleaned everything out. Not that I was expecting much, but wow.

anyone have any luck at the Columbia, MO blockbusters? Ive never seen them having these sales before so I'm not sure if it's worth checking out.

Thats what it looked like at the two stores I went to this morning.

These sales are only for corporate stores, if it has a big banner behind the checkout desk with a district managers name, then most likely its a corporate store.

The Columbia MO stores always have seemed different to me. Maybe they are all franchises? The same thing for the Wichita, Lawrence and Manhattan Kansas stores. Everything is always priced differently than the stuff around KC.

Yeah I feel like they might be franchises. I've looked around for a plaque or a sign or something but I've never seen one. I could just be blind and oblivious though.

If anyone is interested, as of 3:30PM today the Palm Coast, Fl. BBV has....

Below are all Xbox 360. Wii, DS and PS3 were wiped out. I guess no one in this town owns a 360.

Is Split/Second at $14.99?
Is Split/Second at $14.99?
I was hoping it would drop at BBV, but figured it wouldn't. I ended up buying it for $17.99 at GS during the B2G1 (with 2 copies of Front Mission Evolved), so they're like $11.XX each. :D

Oh man. Just came back from Blockbuster in Temple City, CA. They barely had anything left. Saw God of War Chains of Olympus, but that was about it that seemed good.
Picked up
Bioshock 2 (PS3)
Dead to Rights Retribution (360)
Avatar The Game (360)
Chaotic Shadow Warriors (360)

Not really sure why I got the last 2. $5 each just seemed pretty good for them.

Made one last stop, grabbed :ps3: Resistance 2 and :360: Aliens vs. Predator. Glad to get Resistance at that price, and AvP is a decent pairing with it.

I did one last run on three of the further BBV stores but none of them had anything of real interest to me save for the last one I checked, which still had the copy of :ps3:Prototype that was there 2-3 weeks ago that was missing the manual.

I just remembered that there were 1-2 BBV stores up the line I could've hit instead for a final run, but it's a lil too late now to go there and check them out.

decided to make 1 last round tonight and picked up 7 GOW III and 3 Kane & Lynch 2. gotta love fye for some quick cash. 1 GOW for me and the rest to fye.

I've been to this one FYE 4 times with Kane and Lynch 2's. I just bought more but am worried about going back as I keep getting the same stupid person.

I went to my local little podunk rural BBV and it was better stocked than the 3 more urban ones I hit up on Saturday. I got GoW III + Bioshock 2 for PS3 at $14.99, and GH Van Halen for Wii along with Wet for PS3 at $9.99. Clerk rang them up in the correct pairings like usual ;).

There was actually another GoW III that I probably should have grabbed instead of Bioshock 2.

picked up about 20 random ds games for 100, flipped them to gamestop for about 180. hopefully bb sends more ds games to that store in time for the next sale.

All of those GOW3's to ONE FYE? I wish more of my local FYE stores still took games, as they were great for making extra cash when you needed it
i wish. i have 3 fye's in the area, 2 of which i didnt even know existed til recently. they only allow me 1 trade of a game per day so my wife and i went to each of the stores tonight and traded them all in. she doesnt mind going if there is cash involved.

i wonder how long fye will keep these values as i'm sure they are getting flooded with these 2 titles. i'm not complaining though
