The "Stay Classy, Republicans" Super Nintendo Chalmers Thread

Voting is a fundamental right, and taking it away has seemed extraordinarily unethical at best, unconstitutional at worst.

Good on McAuliffe, and I'm deeply saddened at anyone who wants to make the cornerstone of our participatory government a difficult or impossible task.
Kind of like the right to bear arms, right....right?

Kind of like the right to bear arms, right....right?
Oddly, as has been discussed over and over here, there is no Constitutional right to vote, and the Supreme Court (who, as this forum decided sometime ago, is the end-all decision makers on what is and isn't constitutional...) has ruled there is no individual right to vote in our Constitution.

Why someone keeps repeating this "right to vote" is either dishonesty or ignorance. You pick.

Love that to protest Target's new bathroom policy, Right Wing Groups are testing it by sending men into women's bathrooms, thus adding more to the stats that perverts are usually White Cis Males. Never mind that most sexual assaults are done by people the victim knows, and if one is a transgender person, they face a higher risk of violence.

OMG, LOL, LOL, LOL

I was just watching Trumps Indiana victory speech. There is ONE black guy in the audience. The secret service agent standing directly behind trump.

During the speech, Trump says, "The African Americans want jobs." And the ONE black guy there to PROTECT HIM just turns and looks at him as soon as he realizes what Trump said. And then another Secret Service agent whispers something to him.

I'm imagining he probably said a snarky comment like, "Just let it go, man. Just let it go." or "Just think, once he wins you have eight more years of this."

If he makes it to four....

Gotta love how all these "tough" S.S guys are spineless to stand up for themselves.  I really have to wonder if someone did take a shot at Donald Trump would these guys really take a bullet for this wack job.

Excellent interview with Trump's former (not) butler. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/05/13/us/politics/donald-trumps-longtime-butler-calls-for-violence-against-obama-secret-service-to-investigate.html?_r=0

Obama is either Time's Man of the Year or a powerless traitor who should be hanged from the white mosque. Make up your mind, real America!

Just heard this on the radio. HB2 is good for America because this White straight male says the law will prevent boys from walking into the girls' locker room, and some garbage about dirty girls' gym uniforms. http://www.npr.org/2016/05/13/477900506/reaction-to-the-upcoming-white-house-directive-on-transgender-bathrooms

The trial for Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard is underway, even though he's still doing his job despite being indicted for corruption in 2014. http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2016/05/nineteen_months_after_indictme.html

Oh yeah, take a look at #iammedicaid for the great work Hubbard did in screwing over the state's poor to free them from the yoke of a Democratic Party, free from the burden of having to use Federal money to keep people healthy.  http://www.annistonstar.com/news/alabamians-use-iammedicaid-to-put-a-face-on-funding-crisis/article_b8be8868-0cc6-11e6-ae76-9f58581292c1.html

Drove by this sign yesterday and almost had to pull over from laughing.  I did pull over to take the photo though!

Senate Majority Leader Mitch Turtle McConnell is jumping on the bandwagon, saying that the Republicans are strong and are able to change Donald Trump like a bad relationship. This comes in the heels that he was a leader in #NeverTrump

Paul Ryan, your silence means yes. And now he's broken his silence. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/02/politics/paul-ryan-endorses-donald-trump/

Come on fellow Republicans. Don't change the party, you can change Trump!

I don't understand why people are accusing Donald Trump of things he said just last week. That's old news.
He loves the Mexicans, the Mexicans love him. Yuge fan of the Mexicans. No one has done more for the Mexicans.

Now this judge, there's no way he's not biased due to his Mexicanness.

https://rewire.news/article/2016/06/10/oklahoma-governor-signs-bill-create-anti-choice-public-education-campaign/

Oklahoma in its attempt to butt out Roe v Wade, has forced its Department of Health to fund an anti-choice "education campaign" which will push lies like abortion causes breast cancer, and all that unproven garbage pushed by pro-Life. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/the-seven-most-common-lies-about-abortion-20140226

When it's time to raise those babies, where are those pro-life politicians?

Senate continues to allow suspected terrorists to buy guns, but they are still not allowed to fly. http://ctmirror.org/2016/06/20/senate-rejects-murphy-gun-amendment/ And DC politicians will not fund measures to enforce existing gun laws, because it would mean enforcing laws on patriots.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ruled 5-3 that the cops can use evidence found in a full search for an unrelated reason as a means to charge you. Like if you have any outstanding traffic tickets, cops can search you thoroughly for drugs, even though the warrant out for you wasn't about drugs in the first place.  http://www.scotusblog.com/case-files/cases/utah-v-strieff/

Not quite, the police have had the ability to perform a search as part of an arrest for quite some time. It's typically referred to as search incident to arrest. The underlying policy consideration is that police should be able to search someone at the time of arrest to either a) preserve evidence of the crime for which they committed or b) ensure the subject has no weapons on their persons.

Instead, the issue here was that the initial stop by the police was invalid. They didn't have reasonable, individual suspicion a crime had been committed which is the standard for a police stop to be valid. Instead, they said "well, you're leaving a known drug house so we're going to stop you for that. Oh hey, look at that you have a warrant so I'm just going to arrest you now and search you as part of that arrest."

I'm with Justice Sotomayor, the majority got it wrong. The reason being, they've essentially eroded the necessary suspicion level for a stop now, not that they could search you after an arrest.

Why do you think the first thing police always ask for is your ID when you have any kind of contact with them? They're searching for any warrants to arrest you. If you give it over willingly, it's probably not a stop and you're just consenting to it (kind of like how they "ask" you to search your vehicle). Now, the court is essentially saying, "yeah, no problem even if your reason to stop was invalid, you were acting in good faith."

Can somebody who's progun explain to me why it's a good idea why Congress shouldn't fund a bill that makes the law enforcement agencies enforce the current gun laws? Because the NRA has done so much to make them a joke.

Meanwhile Republicans are criticizing Democratic lawmakers for staging a sit-in, saying they are sitting on their asses instead of kissing the asses of their buddies like they are. I mean, I don't even know if the current Congress has passed a budget or did anything about our crumbling infrastructure, or fixed or destroyed Obamacare.

Good. The "No-Fly List" is bullshit anyway - there's no way to tell if you're on it (before trying to fly), no way to find out why you're on it, and no process for getting off it. Such a list is *not* a good way to flat out deny someone's Constitutional Rights.

If *anyone* proposed that the government should be allowed to keep a list of citizens, keep the list secret, put citizens on the list for any reason whatsoever with no oversight, no due process, nothing, then use this list to deny, say, free speech, everyone in their right mind would call BS on this.

In simple terms because NRAs sole purpose is to fight gun regulations. It's like if you have a nonprofit organization for cancer research, one goal and nothing else.

Nonetheless lets try to go over these laws. Please keep in mind that I am not familiar with all of these laws but ill give you my opinion on the reasoning behind them.

1. Concealed carry reciprocity - Expanding on a successful program where individuals are allowed to protect themselves after undergoing special training. Does not seem like a bad idea to me. Private business and some government buildings can of course opt out and not allow individuals to bring in firearms.

2. Private gun sales loophole - Well the whole point of the 2nd Amendment is to fight a government which infringes upon the rights of the people. Therefore people would probably prefer if government did not have a record of a gun transaction. Agree or disagree, in the eyes of gun owners it makes sense.

3. Terror watch list - Suspected is the key word. This should be opposed by any freedom loving individual. It shows how far United States has fallen when we no longer go through a due process but on assumptions.

4. Stand-your-ground laws - I would think this law is self explanatory. In my opinion its usually better to run though but if someone attacks me then I would like an option to legally defend myself.

5. Guns on campuses - So far this law has been a success as far as I know. Personally I think any public school should allow for something like that. A private university should have an ability to opt out.

6. Guns in schools - None of the bills have been proposed would have stopped a school shooting. I think its only fair that people try a different approach.

7. Guns in the workplace - I believe private companies should have a right to ban firearms on the private property. If a person keeps his firearm in his car then I would allow it.

8. Guns in bars and restaurants - Should not be forced on private businesses. Let them decide for themselves.

9. Tracing guns used in shootings - This is about not giving a government the ability to keep records on gun owners.

10. Revoking licences from corrupt dealers - Need an example of this before deciding.

“You’re saying,” Thomas responds, “that recklessness is sufficient to trigger a misdemeanor violation of domestic conduct that results in a lifetime ban on possession of a gun, which, at least as of now, is still a constitutional right. Can you think of another constitutional right that can be suspended based upon a misdemeanor violation of a state law?”
What happens if you decide to write some nasty post on facebook which isn't true but hurts someone emotionally or financially? If you are convicted of slander then should you lose your right to free speech?

One thing you have to understand is that these rights are natural, above the constitution which is merely a document that puts them on paper. A person should continue to exercise their rights as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others. This is why I also have such a big issue with people losing the ability to vote after serving a prison sentence. Surely you would agree that someone who has smoked marijuana does not deserve to lose his freedom and nor his other rights.

Benghazi report is out, but Gowdy vows to keep wasting our taxpayer money. Even if it's a matter of record that his colleagues cut security funding the week after the attack.

It won't matter. Even if they find out she was in personal communication with the attackers during the attack and providing them with emailed intelligence from her private server, her poll numbers won't go down.

We've entered the part of the race where both sides have their anointed savior. They can do no wrong anymore. All who have opposed or will oppose are simply wrong, and haters. Just look at how the message has turned for Bernie, he's now standing in the way of progress by not officially exiting the race.

Conservative Christians who had "religious freedom" bills passed in State Legislatures are coming to grips with what the First Amendment means. They forget that the United States like many countries, is founded on the rule of law, made on the commonality of all its people. The way the "Religious Freedom" bills are presented sounds more like favoritism to a Evangelical Christianity, whether you're Catholic, Baptist, or Protestant. Freedom to practice, but only within the bounds of the law, one should not be placed above the other.

I mean, by the time the Founding Fathers were planning to write the Constitution, they were already dealing with many different denominations of Christianity.

Funny that you never mention Hillary.
Yeah, Hillary's a scummy liar, at least she's better at it than Donald Trump. I checked out her statement page, and the first page spans the past few months a good deal of half truths, compared to Donald's quotes picked in the past month. I guess Trump is the best because he has to explain his not-that sarcasm.

Hey now we're seeing a classier Trump. And he got rid of his Russian guy!
