Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
GMG sells the CE as well (those are the extras you mentioned right?), $6 savings if you get on GMG
Yes. I hadn't checked GMG's page. People should definitely get it there then if it's the same package.
Anyone know if its much better than the 360 version besides slightly upgraded graphics and including the dlcs?
Other than 3D support and better visuals I don't think it's any different. There isn't any new content that I know of.

Thanks for all the responses concerning my uncertainty about Killing Floor. It's not a game I would have expected to enjoy, but then again I did have a good amount of fun with Team Fortress 2 during the holiday sale. From what people have said, Killing Floor seems to include elements that I would enjoy even more.

Though it still comes down to the fact that I have an amazing backlog and am only looking at it now since it's the cheapest it ever has been. That it's a candidate for Steam scavenger hunts might tip the scales in its favor.

Weekend deal is 33% off Call of Duty: MW3 - $40.19. Free weekend too.

You'd think they'd discount it more because of how poorly the series does on PC compared to the console counterparts...

I have a 50% GTA: Vice City coupon which make its come out to $3.75 on steam if anyone is interested in it. PM me.

Hmm...does anyone else have Darkspore installed on Steam? I did the old play the demo, unlock it on Steam trick, it worked up until tonight. Now it won't launch, I get the generic "Game Unavailable", so I open Origin and it's "ready to download" with a purchase date of yesterday......that's just bizarre....

Graphic options? How are the kb/mouse controls?

Huge pile of 'em. And they do the job quite well though I'm sticking with the 360 controller. Game has the old 'instant switch icons' thing so if you nudge the keyboard the A button displays the E key instead or whatever the equivalent is. Weapon switch comes up in a linear row matching the number keys if you invoke it with a keyboard or the proper plus arrangement if you invoke it using the D-pad. Even DX:HR didn't give you that for the cloak powers

I haven't tried "high level" play with the keyboard yet so I don't know if having to maneuver, aim, trigger dodge moves, and tap R to reload quicker will be too huge a stretch of your fingers.

Good to hear. That temps me a bit more. I have it on Xbox and got half way through it, got distracted and never went back even though I enjoyed it. I'd love to pick it up but not sure I'd want to start over. It may be better to just finish on Xbox.

Normally I 'd start over so the plot was fresh in my head. This game had previously on cutscenes though so no need. Neat feature I'd like to see in more games. Thus one sucked me in to where I played through it twice in a row so I didn't need them... go figure.
Can anyone confirm if the game uses an iD (dev) or an Activision (pub) coupon?
Activision works. I doubt iD will work as its more of a Raven game. That being said if anyone has an Activision coupon they would part with let me know. I have a 25% off which I may use but its not quite at the instant purchase range.

Or if someone interested in using my coupon on MW3 to get a bigger discount and split the difference with me with Wallenstein that would be cool too.

You'd be better off trading that coupon to someone who wants MW3 -- may even be able to get Wolfenstein for it. That's why I was hoping it was iD :\

True :) That's why I edited my post right away after posting :)
Man, was hoping the original Wolf 3D and Spear of Destiny would go to 75% off...
This makes me want to play the mortal kombat wolfenstein

Not sure if I want to grab Wolfenstein. id Software developed it unlike 3D and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I was hoping a collection of those 3 games will be on sale but I doubt it since Activision published the latest game. Most likely, I'm gonna grab it for the $5.

RtCW wasn't created by id either. they just supervised it and "Produced" it. If it makes you feel any better Raven has a long history of making games for id starting with Heretic and other Doom clones before that. In my opinion they have made better games in recent memory than id themselves.

I remember about 10-15 years ago returning a 3 1/2 year old printer that died to Costco with my Mom. They handed us Cash for the amount we had paid for it originally including the tax. Pretty crazy if you think about it. My experience with Costco is if you have the balls to return it they take it with few questions asked. That being said, I try not to abuse it.

Thanks, I've been waiting for the Steam version to go on sale for a while.
Thanks, I've been waiting for the Steam version to go on sale for a while.
I too have been waiting for this to go on sale. I was dissappointed when I saw it wasnt included in the quakecon pack from the summer. $5 is a great price for it.

Damn! Reading this forums is detrimental for my wallet :p
I'ts not about being excited about the awesome deals at Steam, it's about seeing 10+ people doing the purchase and adding yet another entry to their huge backlog of games, just for the sake of buying it cheap.

Can't say I don't love it xD haha

For what it's worth, I really liked Wolfenstein. The regen health annoyed me though, moreso than many other games. It could have been a lot better, I think, with more wacky enemies and a health bar. The bosses are all pretty much instant kills because of that regen health

That said, fun, satisfying shooting. Good game.

Well I guess I'm late on this but I bought killing floor for 2.99 the other day and can't stop playing it. Better than L4D hands down imo. I'm sure it will be on sale again soon as it usually is.

I'm really beginning to wonder if the Be Mine Bundle is ever coming back online. I know there's still a week and a half left of it, iirc, but it's starting to feel like a thing that will quietly shuffle its way out of memory.

They are relaunching it and starting the two weeks over.
if not already mentioned, Call of Duty: MW 2 is $4.99 and activates on Steam
Of course MW2 (PC) activates on Steam...b/c MW2 (PC) requires Steam period.

"Nothing groundbreaking. FPS with weapon customization. Story's blah." - my Goozex rating/review of Wolfenstein. It was okay, but nothing I'd replay. Pretty/shiny. If repeating the same hub/map bothers you, avoid. /

Ask and I shall receive. As of this morning, the Be Mine Bundle site is finally back online. http://groupees.com/bemine
Does anyone know if the Steam version of Wolfenstein uses any other DRM like Securom? Or is it just the standard Steamworks DRM?
I believe Steam now lists which 3rd party DRM a game uses right after the "Languages" description in the "Game Details" section. There's no such listing for Wolfenstein so it looks like you're good to go.

Daily Deal:
A.R.E.S.: Extinction Agenda Complete
66% OFF: $4.07

Missed this when it was in the Indie Royale bundle. Is it worth the price or has it been cheaper?

It's a decent, if short, Metroid-style game. It can be had for cheaper, so unless you're in a hurry, I'd hold off.

Tactic: lead masses to believe launch is Monday or later, decrease traffic for weekend launch. Score.

ARES felt very lightweight to me. I'm guessing it's trying to evoke retro shoot-em-up feelings from stuff you might have played as a kid.

It's the kinda game that if I'd bought it now, rather than at the beginning of my Steam addiction, I would probably a) play for 10 mins and forget about it, or b) stick it in my backlog folder and make excuses not to play it at all.

Save yer pennies, says I.

Are there no multipacks for CS:S? We let the people at my company vote and they decided on CS:S over L4D2. It looks like there was a 6-pack at some point, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Am I looking in the wrong place?
