Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Enough people paid me for my IG7 group buy with Amazon gift cards that I'll probably pick up the 1C bundle from Amazon and add it to the list of games I'll never play. Sleeping Dogs has been great which measn my backlog is just going to keep getting bigger.

That said, if the HIBA3 comes with Steam keys, I'm in for a dollar for Fieldrunners... otherwise I'll pass since I own the rest and don't game on my phone.
So how about the 1C bundle from Amazon that is coming soon for $14.99 (almost identical to the Gamersgate Bundle, but they will have an option for steam keys!
I've been waiting for something to spend some of my amazon credit on, this sounds perfect for that.
Ah, thanks. I probably read that it would be down and just let it slip my mind. They must be getting the servers ready for the summer sale. Anyone know when that kicks off?
It looks like the Humble Android Bundle 3 will have... two games I don't own?

Eh, worth throwing a dollar at it to have Bit.Trip Beat and for the possibility that I'll own an Android device in the future with the rest.

Edit: What is Spirits? I couldn't find it on Steam.
Edit: What is Spirits? I couldn't find it on Steam.
Two year old iThingy game. Here's one decent review with lots of pics/video. I'm really debating if I'll BTA for it. Similar to other stuff, and ghosts/zombies are a personal turnoff.

I imagine that it will be this game:

Edit: Ninja'd!

I'll buy in for FieldRunners. The rest are just backup in case I ever get an android tablet though.

What is Spirits? NyxQuest? Edit: Ninja'd.

Yeah, I keep buying the Android bundles in case I ever get something that can play them.

And people over on the Steam forums are guessing that Spirit will be the Android debut of either:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5qYWt5bC5zcGlyaXRoZCJd

or

http://spacesofplay.com/spirits/

Neither of those are on Steam, but maybe it will also be the Steam debut. It has happened before.

I'll just say that Plants vs. Zombies is my favorite game of all time and that I've played through the campaign more than 6 times across multiple platforms (Steam, Xbox 360, WP7). If they released it on another system I had I'd play through it again. The Steam sale prices are just a steal, regardless of the game's visual resolution.

I don't remember Field Runners being in a bundle, but I know Uplink and Spacechem were in previous Humble Bundles. I'll probably buy it for a dollar to have BIT.TRIP.BEAT and Field Runners, while skipping the BTA. All of the Android bundles have been pretty crappy IMO, but they're decent buys for $1.

Briefly read the description of Field Runners, it seems to be a Tower Defense game? If I already have my share of TD games via Defense Gride and Orcs Must Die!, would I enjoy it?

I've watched this music video 5 times, yet I still can't decide if it's the worst or the best music video I've ever seen.

It's definitely Tower Defense. In fact, it's a very Tower Defensey Tower Defense game. Basically 'okay here's 1 bad guy, here's 2, here's 4, here's 16, here's 32...' that's pretty much all there is to it. Just lay down traps for more and more and more bad guys.

Mildy amusing for a bit but gets old really fast.

Then again, I think Tower Defense is an extremely tired and overdone me too genre full of games slapped together to make a quick buck so consider my opinion based on that.

Got it for free from Amazon. Played for like an hour and got really bored, since nothing ever got past. It's one of the tower defense games without any defined paths. You get a huge rectangle, and you build your towers into paths. I usually don't like those.

My favorite Android one is HexDefense, but there's really only one really useful weapon.

I'm with you on that. Not much innovation since The Horde (1994, 3DO/PC). Below is the shortest least yawn-worthy introduction. It was a damn fine game, and slightly ahead of it's time. It combined city planning, defense planning, resource growth and defense, as well as action.

That actually doesn't look half bad. I think I would rather play that than most modern tower defense games. They could probably re-release as an indie game now without even having to do much to it.

Edit: Okay I looked it up and I am disturbed out by the Kirk Cameron cover image.

Thinking of old games that I'd like to have on a tablet, reminds me of RoboSport (1991). Yes sure, Frozen Synapse is reinterpretation. But I much preferred the style of RoboSport. You plan actions of a small team of robots in advance then everyone (networked multiplayer/AI) executes their action simultaneously. It also had a very cool game save/replay feature. It was in the 3 games that I kept on my 386 laptop's 80 MB drive all the time, the others being Civ and Dune 2 (Though I now keep FreeCiv and OpenDune on my phone... go figure). Hmm, I could DosBox it...

Oddly I cannot find any youtube videos that show it off, despite it being a Maxis game.

It was the start of the era of cheesy FMV. One PC version even shipped with a MPEG decoder card. Serious lack of Spoiler tags, -50 DKP.

Onyxia Wipe Animation

About HBfA#3, in my opinion, Spirits looks good and I would go BTA, but I think the BTA price will be higher than -75% of this game on Steam, so I will pay humble $1, as I've got Spacechem and Uplink. CAG all the way.
They'll also add another game on start of 2nd week. I would hold with judging this bundle before until they finally add it. Anyway, I guess it will be RUSH, since it has been discounted a few days ago as daily deal and two other Two Tribes games were included in previous bundles for Android.
I don't remember Field Runners being in a bundle, but I know Uplink and Spacechem were in previous Humble Bundles. I'll probably buy it for a dollar to have BIT.TRIP.BEAT and Face Runners, while skipping the BTA. All of the Android bundles have been pretty crappy IMO, but they're decent buys for $1.
I think Field Runners was part of the 10 cent sale awhile back, not in a bundle now that I think about it. Same with Spirit too I think.

But yeah I guess for a buck it ain't bad, I'm so used to the $5 Indie Royale's and the $6-$7 BTA that I was thinking the bundle would be $5 +

The other thing that bothered me about the Hmble Android bundles was that they wouldn't show up in your App list on Google Play (since there was no way to redeem them over there I don't think) , so they were a pain in the ass to keep updated. I really like having all my Android stuff in 1 place. Any word on whether that's changed or not?

That 1C bundle is massive, but the only things I'd want from it are to complete Kings Bounty, and Pneumbra which I didn't know was 1C. If anybody already has those consider me!

And yeah, welcome to the next year on Steam Gifts.

They released an android app to version check (check your Android HIB download page) and let you know if you're up to date or not. If not it opens your browser and downloads the never version. Not slick, but much better than not having it. I'm used to haveing a hodge podge of Play Store, Amazon Store, and a few sideloaded things (occasionally Play Store thinks my Nook is unworthy when it can handle something.) I've gotten quite a few nice Free App of the Day from Android, and they had some different $0.10 sales than Play store, though usually its shovelware.

There's an Android Humble Application that tells you the status of your games: installed, not installed, update available.
Not going to get myself too excited about the latest Humble Android bundle. Last one turned out to be wholly underwhelming after I played the games.
Couldn't be worse than the last indie gala mobile. The Cthulhu game, the only I was really interested in, has the worst controls I've ever dealt with on a phone and it is practically unplayable because of that. The horror title is awkward at best and only scared me once: It was in my pocket and screamed, I was unaware it was still on.

Death to Spies, Space Rangers, and Star Wolves are worth taking a look into. Anyone else want steamgifts to get a fuck or :spam: autoconversion?
