Lucky for me it was RotF, and I remembered I was going to switch it out for the Walmart big screen disc anyways. I'm sure it will play just fine anyways. I'm giving the standalone versions to a friend, i doubt he'll even notice.
The discs are different than ones in other collections?

And that's great to give it away. I tend to do that with movies that I get different copies of. He can't complain about getting one for free, ha.

Snagged the last one from AWD for $80.99 in Like New condition. Can't resist.

Packaging may have minor damage. Item is in excellent condition.

Walmart had an edition for RotF with scenes specially filmed for Imax. Or something like that.

For those who don't know yet, this is all cardboard. Even the diamond plate stand. Cardboard held closed with magnets. Very cool, but not metal except for the signature plate and the title bar on the top.

Wow that is quite a dealbreaker for me. It does look cool but not well worth close to a hundred bucks for cardboard packaging that could possibly wear out with future use.

I wouldn't have gotten it had i known before. the plexiglass seems like it'll tear off of it's stand.

.... People actually expected this to be metal? If you've seen any unboxing videos or pics, you have an approximate idea of it's size. Thing about how much the thing would weigh if it was anything but cardboard. To be honest, I expected this to be much less sturdy than it actually was for that price. Real metal? I can only imagine how much they would have tried to get away with charging for this. I'm betting at least $150.

uhhh, the retail value for this is $150, hence why everyone assumed it must be metal.

I did warn people that this was a cheaply made cash-grab, but apparently I was just a troll.
Truth!!! Finally!
If you look at all your posts regarding me there is no doubt here who the troll is. Of course, if you'd like to get a moderator involved that can be arranged too, otherwise I suggest you stop being a complete waste of space on this website.

 Troll on and take your own advice, it's the Internet dude.

So, how's everyone enjoying their purchase? :)

But you never stated it's material. I had seen the leaked pictures, and preordered. The "unboxing" videos never mentioned material either. And to a casual viewer looks to be aluminum of some sort. CARDBOARD! Much like the original Borne trilogy set.

Read the beginning of this thread. We guessed the pricing would reach over $200.

I don't find it to be a big deal. I didn't expect it to be metal and it's not metal. I'm okay with it. Almost every box set is made of cardboard and I'm not 5, so I'm not going to destroy it. The boxes of my DVD sets have been perfectly fine over 10 or so years and I've watched them a ton. Still worth the money I paid.

And I was talking about what was actually being charged for it, not MSRP. Because blu-rays and sets are NEVER MSRP. Were it actually metal I would have been expecting 200+ for MSRP and 150ish for an actual price.

And honestly I don't find it cheap at all. Seems pretty sturdy to me. But then again I don't expect a 20 lb. solid aluminum triangle.

And lol @ cash grab. I know plenty of people that would think an extra $50 is worth it for better packaging, film cells, and signed by the director.

This is a pretty interesting psychological phenomenon - it's a concept called anchoring. The MSRP is always an outrageous price in order to get you to think the product is worth this outrageous amount. Once you hear that said product is worth this outrageous amount, you reflexively think to yourself, "That's fucking ridiculous." This then leads to your next cognitive stepping stone, which is... "I think $xx.xx sounds more reasonable." It turns out that $xx.xx is a hell of a lot closer to MSRP than the actual value of the item, which then leads you to buy said product at a much higher value than it's worth.

That's the reason I, and most of you, bought this intricate piece of cardboard for $90.

Better packaging? Yeah a big clunky faux metal carboard that takes up a ginorous amount of space isn't exactly better in my view.

Film cells? Uh no guess again, those are just pictures made to look like film cells. No actual film strips or anything. Very very cheap

Michael Bay's signature? Do people honestly give a shit about some overrated director who throws explosions at any and everything?

This is without a doubt a cashgrab. They put ZERO effort into this collection, and charge premium for it.

Even at $90, I'd expect something better than fucking cardboard. If they really gave a shit, they could have done any of the following:

 • Number it to 5,000 to truly prove it's limited (does it come with any C.O.A. btw?)
 • Put some unique disc art on it (they're just plain generic looking discs)
 • add real film cells
 • Not make it out of fucking cardboard
 • Add a book of some sort
 • Add a ton of special features exclusive to this set (are there any exclusives?)

This was a really poorly put together set, but hey if people want to spend money on a bit cardboard triangle and bay's signature whatever, it's still a cash grab in my book

Bought the 2-pack of the SE's of the first 2 movies for $18 new, will wait for the 3rd SE to hit sub-$15 and I will have this exact disc set for under $35. In the end, the size to content ratio killed it for me.

You said it best yourself at the end. "Whatever". You obviously don't care. Yet you keep coming back to this thread over and over and over again after you say you're done and won't be back. You've stated your opinion a million times. So why do you keep coming back to this thread? Yup, you're a troll. Obviously some people hate this set, yet some people like it. But anyone that was expecting metal was a moron, plain and simple. It just wasn't going to be happening for that price and that package size.

If you just want to watch the movies this set is not for you. This is called a collectors set for a reason. I would have not bought it if it was not for a lucky price mistake but it is definitely one of the coolest thing I ever bought. My only gripe is the stupid tape they used to hold the bluray discs in place...

Honestly looks like the premium content is just Bay's signature, the packaging, and the smallest "scenes from the movie" I've ever seen in a set. =/ Unless the technology changed those film cells look nothing like my Godfather and Scarface cells. Horizontal instead of vertical and waaaaaaaay to bright. But hey I'm also just assuming the bonus disk for each movie is in the regular editions.

Honestly, even if I didn't hate Bay's explosion porn I'd stay away from it. Unless Bay's signature really is worth alot in the resell market I guess.

(I really love collectors editions so I kinda felt like I had to look at this one)

Just received mine from yesterday. I paid $81 from AWD. It looks barely brand new with everything intact, except those small scratch on the banner. Then I had to remove those frickin tape from all 3 disc. The first disc screwed up badly so I had to trimmed and leave those tapes there and the last 2 discs went off smoothly.

wow - I got mine from amazon on the day of release... have been hearing the horror stories of removing the tape but thankfully mine came off clean with no problem at all!
