lmao!

Is Kid Icarus(nes) any good? And should i get Mega Man X if i already have X4 on ps3?
Kid Icarus is pretty brutal old-school platforming. I suggest looking up a review on Youtube or something before dropping cash on it. I replay the original Mega Man games about once a year and don't think they're *that* hard, but Kid Icarus makes me want to pull my hair out.

On a related note - X4 is good, but X1 to me is the best in the series. All the idea were fresh, and the level designs and bosses were all fantastic. For $5 it's hard not to recommend it, although if you have the opportunity, the PSP remake (Maverick Hunter X) is also excellent.

I don't like the original Kid Icarus at all. I find it really grindy, and punishing in the wrong ways. But other people love it, so YouTube is probably a good place to go to get the flavor.

Personally, I like X1-3 the best. It seemed like the series kind of floundered after that (and the good ones were then the Zero games on GBA and DS).

I do like Kid Icarus. I was going to tell you that you might as well get the 3D Classics version on 3DS instead, but I don't know. I think the original has still got it. I guess I originally liked the 3D Classics version better because it saves and stuff, but I suppose the Virtual Console version has save states and such.

I still have a complete/in box copy of X1, and beat it countless times as a kid, or else I'd be more inclined to get it for $5. X2, on the other hand, I never owned and have only beaten once, so it's an easy $5.

When I said I couldn't justify buying X1, I meant "I'm going to only half-pay attention while I use the eShop and accidentally purchase X1 instead of X2." fuck.

Just thinking about it... but I don't remember playing ANY of the X megaman games except for the 1st. And that was on my PC.

Computer City (another graveyard retailer) had PC versions of X and Street Fighter II, plus they each came with a controller (think Genesis style).

So guess what I'm buying.

For those that are thinking whether or not to get Kid Icarus (NES) heres a list of stuff you will have to deal with

-Checkpoints are only at the end of the stage. There are no mid checkpoints per stage.

-Pit slides about 2MS after every movement.

-your level gain is only obtained via end of the stage

-Game only scrolls up or left, you will die if you fall off screen

-you only have 1 life but infinite continues

-you lose everything earned until you reach the end of the stage, then it saves whatever you have for the next stage

-Pressing down is also your down jump on certain platforms which can lead to accidental pitfall deaths

-Life energy is very scarce or non-existant

-Shooting angles are sides and Up, theres no 8 way or down

Aside from the bad stuff on the game, it does offer some good stuff as RPG element (regardless on how broken that is as well).

The game has a brutal entry to level barrier and is meant to be played with a lot of free time for 1st time playthrough.

Your mostly gonna have alot of deaths on the first stage alone, but once learn the platforming and enemy placement and movements, you should be able to clear the 1st stage and if your fortunate enough and grinded enemy kills, you probably also have enough score points to gain a level and survive the 2nd stage with more life, and lower that barrier difficulty, and so on.

on the benefit side, you also have save states on the Virtual console

Do some research and see if its your cup of tea

Will Picked up both and keep my GBA version sealed ;)

I did that with ff tactics on the ps sale last week... Bought war of the lions for vita. I don't own a vita. fuck. Lol

. God this makes me feel old. I really wanna write something like... When I was a kid, we didn't have checkpoints! (Well I guess I did say it).... Great game, so many memories. I actually remember getting it for Xmas way back when. One of my first childhood memories. Ok enough old man posting.

I once left my NES on for ~12 hours just so I could resume playing where I was at in World 6 in SMB3 rather than replay it all. Checkpoints, what are those?

In about 2nd grade, I had a friend who had SMB3. (Oddly, I never owned it.) He claimed that he once left his NES on at world whatever (8, I dno) and that his NES was smoking when he got up in the morning.

At the time I believed him, but now I sort of think he was talking gib. It doesn't have an engine or a heating element. It would take a pretty weird situation to get it to smoke. The blinking pink and black, I believe. :p

oh god... Rygar was the worst with leaving the system on forever.... Couldn't shut it for DAYS lol.... And if you die... U have to start all over! Merciless!

I don't think I should but I might have to buy Animal Crossing if its on sale... Though that's a bad investment as Smash is coming out the week after the AC sale

Yeah, we really didn't have those back in the days, instead we had something magical called "passwords"

I hated the password because you write it down and just to realize it didn't work because you though that I was a l or most worst cases mistook the O with a 0 and you lost probably 1 or 2 weeks or event months worth of progress.

On the plus side it did trained us for those "Coke rewards" or "Club Nintendo Registration codes" that's pretty much the same thing.

I traded my Metroid cartridge to another kid for a ROCKLORD or something (what was I thinking?? worst trade in the history of the world), and he complained a week later that the "password battery" had died. I wasn't educated enough at the time to ask him why in the hell would it need passwords if it had a battery?? Obviously he was having 0/O problems or L/I or something. Or like me with eShop cards, 6/G confusion.

I almost miss when I wasn't a hoarder. I once traded Rampage to a friend for his Mario 2. Even back then some people hated Mario 2. I don't get it.

Is it worth it to buy Megaman X and X2 if I already own the Megaman X collection on the gamecube? I'm trying to decide if it's worth $10 to be able to play these 2 games on a pro controller or the gamepad. The gamecube disc looks pretty good on the Wii hooked up with component cables.

How well does F-Zero hold up?  I don't think I ever played the original so I'm thinking about picking it up, $5 seems like a good deal.

Does anybody know if Pushmo World or the Wonderful 101 have gotten on sale recently? I checked the doc, but I don't know how up to date it is as it's missing a lot of games.

I am definitely going to pick up Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze when it's on sale (hopefully it'll be $30-35, seeing as MSRP is $50)

I might be wrong but I don't believe that either has ever gone on sale.

Hopefully DKTF will be $35 but that's the lowest I would expect.

This is the only thing for either game.

Be advised, Wonderful 101 is HUGE at 10.2 GB. Not an issue if you have external storage of course, but comparatively, 3D World is less than 3GB.

Still have a copy of W101 sealed. All this talk about it makes me wanna start it up. Probably gonna give it a try tonight if im not playing Destiny coop

The game is great. A shame that Destiny sells millions and games like this barely reach the 100k
blame that on the mass followers that allows the media to tell them what is good and not instead making there own decisions.

Destiny was marketed extremely over the top promoting the game like crazy now to me if a game is a good game then let the gameplay speak for it self but once you start seeing mass promotion of a single game you would think something would pop in someone head that if a game is supposed to be that great then why all the need to promote it so much.

Destiny is also available on 4 different systems across 2 different brands. The install base plus the hype train and Bungie's reputation made it an easy sell, despite the fact that there are such mixed reactions to it (myself included). Nintendo's poor marketing of the Wii U hurt W101 long before their poor marketing of the game itself. Together, it was a death sentence for that game.

...and I can play Destiny with 2 other friends. Ill play a game with coop that I can play with friends over a single player game the majority of the time

Edit... and none of my coop buddies seem to be available so W101 gets a shot tonight

I'm sorry, but if Nintendo had put W101 on as big of a hype train as they did SM3DW, MK8, and even any the NSMB games, it would've sold a lot better.

Better, maybe, but those games you listed get the hype train because they're proven brands. Nintendo knows they can put the money into advertising them because they know those games will sell a ton. W101 would not have been a guaranteed hit, so it doesn't make sense to market it the same way if it doesn't have that automatic ROI.

i couldnt find it in the past sales spreadsheet but has either of these two games been cheaper in the past before? or is the sale price now the cheapest?
