  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Nice sale. SO can someone please comment on:

Kingdoms of Amalur - Gameplay looks fun. Is the story good?

Thanks!
I'd recommend buying it, especially for $4. The story's pretty cool, taking an unique spin on the fantasy protagonist. If you've played Fable, the story plays out more like that (and Skyrim in a way), in which there are very little cutscenes, a TON of sidequests, faction quests and the main story line can all interconnected (depending on when you're doing it).

Also, this never gets old.

Man How to Survive can be hard.  Having lots of fun with it so far though.  Expect another twin stick zombie shooter and that's not what it is at all.

My GoT season pass is still installed, but on the store it now says to buy it for $20 and in the game it also shows to buy it. Not looking good anymore. This morning when I downloaded everything in the store it said installed and in the game it said purchased

Have never played Dead Space, not sure I'd like it, not a big survival horror fan, even if it is in space, so that's just a maybe...Not a horrible sale week overall!
As redundant as it may be to say, I'll reiterate it anyway: Praxus, you won't like Dead Space.

The first one is every bit a survival-horror; claustrophobic, gruesome, lonely atmosphere, limited ammo and weapon management, and a slow stifling pace as you, a space engineer lug your non-combat-ready space suit around a "deserted," barely lit space station.

Which is what makes it so good.

Haha, yeah I forgot he was still in it until my brother pointed it out that Rusev was never tossed over the top rope.

Back On Topic, I think I'll buy Titanfall on the Xbox One. I need a new game to play and a shooter sounds pretty good right now.
Axel still has not been eliminated.

That's why it's only a maybe, a soft maybe. I used to love the old RE games on the old PlayStation, but haven't gotten into survival horror since probably Code Veronica. Tried getting into Silent Hill, but just couldn't. The only thing making me lean towards it is the set in space aspect and the price.

even tough you are not a survival horror fan it is one of the best survival horror games out there. For only a few bucks it's worth it to check it out. The First two were amazing, the third was kinda meh.

The online is active. Just be aware that the DLC maps don't appear often except for in Attrition (because the population number is so high). If you buy the Season Pass or Deluxe Edition you'll basically be spending money on maps you'll barely see. There are 3 specific DLC playlists for each DLC pack, but the population in those is usually enough for maybe one full team game.

The game has players, but most playlists peak during 7-11 PM EST, and then become more vacant into the night. Weekends see a surge, but it's definitely a better game if you play with friends or people you know (especially in objective games like Capture the Flag).

If you're interested in Frontier Defense (the Horde/Firefight/Zombies-esque mode), there are many people playing that mode during most times of the day.
I've been playing plenty since last time it went in sale, never had a problem getting a game going at whatever time. Attrition is good for the DLC maps, but I've still got maps I haven't even played a match on yet. Game is great, so is the price.

(Edited to remove replied dick-ery over misreading original conversation).

Praxus, who frequently says he doesn't like many games at all, had said Dead Space was a "maybe" purchase this week and noted he doesn't like survival-horror to which I replied that he won't like DS because it is the definition of a survival-horror.

I love the first Dead Space, which I thought was obvious by the amount of detail I went into describing it, but I guess not.

Now your profile says veteran yet you don't seem to I ow how to follow a conversation, interesting.

Praxus, who frequently says he doesn't like many games at all, had said Dead Space was a "maybe" purchase this week and noted he doesn't like survival-horror to which I replied that he won't like DS because it is the definition of a survival-horror.

I love the first Dead Space, whigh I thought was obvious by the amount of detail I went into describing it, but I guess not.
well at first I thought you were talking about how crappy dead space was (and also not being a fan of survival horror like praxus) but realized you were just describing how it is a survival horror game in general and deleted you quote within seconds (couldn't get rid of you're name though for some reason). And you can go into high detail about hating a game as well. It's not like you started saying I love dead space and survival horror but you won't because.........

but come on for 3 bucks, why not take a chance on it? it's not gonna break the bank

Mostly related to the sale... So I tried playing the first Mass Effect game on two or three different occasions.  I didn't enjoy the combat at all.  Did it improve a great deal in the sequels?

Even if you need to play with the lights on I say at least try Dead Space for $3.  It is a shame the team at Visceral is stuck making Battlefield games.

ME2 is a huge upgrade in combat but a simplification in the RPG aspect. ME3 is basically full on action game. First time I used a Vanguard charge I was in love. I know the majority of players used straight up soldier but being able to bend the biotic powers is too much fun not to play with a class like that.

I know this is not the right place to ask this but I'm not sure where to ask. If I buy the season pass for advanced warfare for 360 I will get the season pass for the xbone free? I own the physical disk not the digital versions of the games if that matters any

Just watched some YouTube videos of Dead Space...think I'm going to pass on it even for just $3. Too much gore for me. Looks like on Friday I'll only be getting Crysis 2 and the Transformers game. Crysis 3...gonna wait for it to hit the $5 sweet spot.

Edit...screw it, I had 64 cents left on my Xbox account, for $2.36 I'll try it ;-)

Are any of the Dead Space weapon DLC's worth buying? Thinking about the steam punk gun for a buck. And seems I'd already bought the elite armor download.

yeah the game looks awful.

But on the road to 100,000GS, and diamond rings....real niggas do real things.

Playing weak ass games for the gamerscore is the song I sing, real niggas do real things.

Yes, you will. (I have it in the OP.)

So many oldsters like me on here, I'm surprised at the lack of nostalgia glasses in here when it comes to OUT OF THIS WORLD, back in the day (there it is!) that was an awesome game but damnit it was hard. If I ever get on my X1, or the app or site ever let me, I'm buying it in a heartbeat.

Co-op might be fun but it takes away from the survival horror, makes it too easy.......
I find it difficult to be afraid of an enemy that suddenly becomes too easy just because there is a second person. Easier works, but too easy isn't scary to me. I found Dead Space 3 (on PC) to be challenging in co-op at the hardest difficulty available at the start. We were running out ammo and had to choose our battles wisely. We only played about 2 hours though (ran poorly on my laptop), so maybe it gets easier later on (like Resident Evil HD). I played the whole game on Xbox solo on an easier difficulty and enjoyed it.

I should note that I am very bias towards co-op games. I love them and wish almost every game had co-op.

I might grab Another World for $4, but EVERYONE should grab PvZ Garden Warfare for $10, I got that day one and don't regret it at all, that game is amazing.

Man How to Survive can be hard. Having lots of fun with it so far though. Expect another twin stick zombie shooter and that's not what it is at all.
How to Survive lost me when:

  • We reached the training island and were constantly hit by non-dogeable lightning strikes that sapped our health, a design decision that makes no sense that I can see.
  • We were constantly out of water and basically just being kicked in the nuts by developers who seemed to be angry at us for some reason.
All of which is a shame, because the game has a lot of content (on Xbone) and a great sense of humor. It's just the terrible balance (on EASY) that made me say "No thank you" and stop playing.

It's entirely dodgeable. There's a small strike indicating where it will hit then around 5 seconds later the big one.

As you progress it's easier to keep your bars up. There's also skills at the top of the tree to halve the rate of depletion. It's really more survival game than anything and just has these moments of twin stick zombie shooting.

I've been playing it all day and absolutely love it. Even when I get stuck dying on the same thing a dozen times.

Somebody mentioned Another World, so here's my full playthrough as broadcast on Twitch last year:

http://youtu.be/zN_O1ED9ww4

You do have to pause and consult a guide a lot, but it's short and the art and setting are still great after all these years. Also, Another World/Out of This World was absolutely amazing from a technological standpoint when it came out in the 90s.

Okay, remove non-dodgeable and the lightning is still a pretty dumb design decision.

I'm all for survival mechanics but starving and being dehydrated all the time right at first is a recipe for turning people away instead of easing them in with a proper difficulty curve. On the other hand, I'm envious that you had more patience for it, as How to Survive's story and content do seem worthwhile.

This week has some great deals (everyone needs to play Dead Space, $3 means you have no excuse :p).

I am wondering if any CAGs can tell how the current player population is like for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare for the Xbox 360 only?

Very active still

No problem finding a full match at all

But...but...I hate pvp...especially games where PvP is all there is.
There's a 4 player wave based Co-Op mode in the game as well that's a lot of fun. While the PvP is more of the focus, you can still get unlocks and such from playing the other mode as well.

Watching youtube reviews and every last one was utterly positive, but still it just doesn't look like something I'd really enjoy. Same with Titanfall. Great reviews in general, its just that chasing guys around a map and getting killed over and over doesn't seem like fun to me.

I'm glad to see the One get such great des this week. I just can't bring myself to buy any more 360 games. I never even played the B:I pass stuff after buying it. I just had no idea that is get a One so early and then BB's trade glitch fell into my lap.

It's funny because it's exactly opposite for me. My Xbox One is a huge dust collector while the 360 that I bought when Target had them for half off earlier this month gets played almost daily. My most wanted game for Xbox One is Cuphead, and there's no release date for that right now. I got bored with Far Cry 4 after a while even though it's one of my top favorite games right now. Being late to the XBLA party, I'm enjoying a lot of lesser known favorites such as Puzzle Quest, Quake Live and Quarrel, and I'm excited to finally play several shmups that I missed. I don't really want to pay full price for Ikaruga, but I know I'm only delaying the inevitable by not buying now.

An overnight drop :

:360: NBA Jam: On Fire Edition - $4.94 - 67% off - xbldb
Been waiting for this one even though no NBA Jam will ever excite me as much as the Genesis version.
