Sonic Forces has a 3 level demo on Switch in Japan. One level each from Modern, Classic, and created character, but they only give you 60 seconds on each, which is not enough to beat any of them. The Modern level is a straight line simulator with what seems like a lot of spoken dialogue, the Classic level is a boss fight so you don't get much of a feel, and the Creator level seems weird because you have to attack with a melee weapon that totally kills your momentum.

To be fair the Creator levels might still be good as long as they design around the abilities well, but the demo level just seemed like Modern Sonic levels. The story trailer showed a bunch of characters from previous games, including Chaos from Adventure and the Chaotix.

I hope the game is good but the demo does not give a good impression. This is going to get annihilated by Odyssey.

I would really like to see that demo on Xbox. I'm holding out hope that it's another Generations with a tacked on character creator/levels.

I played ME1 after 2-3 and it felt like a prequel, it was kinda cool. It does feel dated but the story is so good you will get used to it.

Just SAVE CONSTANTLY on missions. The autosave is near useless and I lost a good 20-30 minutes of playtime more than once.

Looks like Amazon can't deliver my AC: Origins preorder on release date, so they gave me the digital deluxe edition while I wait...nice.

PSA: If you signed up for that Amazon Music Unlimited deal I posted last month, it should auto renew in 2 days so cancel if you haven't already

 
Speaking of Mass Effect, I finished Andromeda a couple days ago...and I really don't see what the problem with it was. Unless all the complaining was strictly about bugs/glitches/animations at release. I personally enjoyed my time with it, though the trilogy was better story wise.

I'm tempted to get Assassin's Creed Origins with prime discount but I most likely wouldn't play it until I get my XB1X. Still got Unity and Syndicate to start as well.

It helped I played Mass Effect 1 at the time it came out. Yeah I bet some things don't age well in that game but at the time it was absolutely revolutionary. No kidding, still one of my favs, although ME2 really refocused what worked and threw out what didn't.

Google now has earbuds that will translate another language for you, so there you go, that's why all the Aliens speak English in 2183 lol.

Yea, I enjoyed ME 1 about 5 years after it came out, but some of the game mechanics were already showing their age at that point. Then played ME 2 shortly after finishing 1 and had my mind f*&#ing blown during the opening sequence. I have such fond memories of that game. ME 3 was more of the same that was great from 2 that built up to what could of been amazing and then flopped at the end. Still a very solid series overall. I do not regret playing through all three games twice (each on Paragon and Renegade). Renegade Femshep is a must play FYI, so much attitude there.

Haha, well they freakin' spoiled it for everybody one E3 when they were like well Shepard can die. SO yeah I would have been blown away lol. That sequence is pretty powerful, esp the neat trick Bioware does with an absence of sound.

Wow, my Xbox Design Labs controller stopped working. I believe it's still under warranty, was purchased back in April.

Hmmm, I've been waiting on Xcom 2, might be the time I use some Microsoft Rewards credit and get it now - although I'm hesitant to pick something up with BF coming up.

I was glad that they had cities skyline free to play last weekend so now I know not to buy it. I've been interested since it came out but didn't enjoy it very much.

I've always liked Sim City and was excited for a city builder but it wasn't as user friendly imo.

It was the sheer number of bugs, glitches, and bad animations that people were complaining about. I think the bugs have been mostly ironed out now, I don't know about all of the animations, but they had made decent progress on the most aggressively bad ones. Then you had weird stuff like the "my face is tired" woman just not even looking line a human being, and things like falling through the map being a fairly common occurrence.

Having played it at launch I felt a decent game was buried in there, but all the little things along with a few big ones made me feel it deserved the reception it got, with it being amplified by the pedigree of the previous games, and the actual Bioware team they were being compared to. The dev team didn't deserve to be disbanded for it, but that just strengthens the feeling that the game was borked. I think that decision was hastened because of the shitstorm that ME3 had, which isn't fair either. It just sucks that EA themselves don't actually get blowback over the team they forced to put out out an underwhelming game.

Atari has 6 BC games, four of which are ancient classics with the other two being Ghostbusters. Hard to say about Godzilla game rights though. The 2014 game was published by Bandai-Namco, and the upcoming Japan-only City Shrouded in Darkness is from them as well.

I actually liked Mass Effect 3's ending...

Although, I did play it a year after the game came out, so I had the extended cut DLC downloaded.

 
I am in mourning tonight.  My 17 month old Elite controller took a shit. It seems like the right bumper is being continually pressed but it is not stuck at all. Tried several things with no luck. Really sad that I have used regular 360 controllers for 5+ years but this thing breaks in less than 18 months. 

Anyone know if GS will take this thing broken like that. I am not looking to pass off a shit controller for working but if the refurb fee is low I will trade it in towards a regular controller.  It was paid with funny money at GS in the first place.

It was the shiznit back in the day, considering Halo Combat Evolved never got Xbox Live support. So it was the only way to ever play the first Halo online on the original Xbox.

Looks like they will give you $50 base credit without a membership. I'm not sure what they will take off if it fails the new controller test. Some stores may not take it at all...

I pray it's not a gears elite controller bc those have the same trade value as a normal 3.5 controller....

It's $3 cheaper to buy DR4 and the Season Pass separately than the Deluxe Edition? Seems like they messed up on the sale pricing there.

 
Thinking about getting Axiom Verge, saw that in November they are doing a physical release , which I'd rather have. Then I see that of course it's going to be released on every other console not named Xbox 1.  :wall:  :wall:  :wall:

Cuphead aside, why has MS lost their grip on indie games? Seems like PS4 is hoarding these things. 

Any reason to upgrade from a Wii U Zombi U game to Zombi on the XB1?

Guess Best Buy is doing midnight openings for all the games coming out tomorrow. Probably swing buy for AC: Origins.

Also finally got my Visa points there a week late. Probably use my rewards cert towards Need for Speed Payback, which I really hope is good (and is as much as a Burnout style game as it looks like).

Send it to MS they will replace it, most likely with a refurb but an Elite Controller nonetheless.

Other folks have asked about Axiom Verge-

Metroid is my favorite series, and always has been. All the reviews hailed AV as a spiritual successor to the original Metroid, and the hype was real, especially with the way Nintendo has neglected the series until very recently.

I went in with very high expectations, and while I enjoyed the game very much, it didn't live up to the extreme hype. If I had gone in without any idea of what to expect, I probably would have enjoyed it more and been surprised vs disappointed, so it's very subjective.

That said, I did log 20 hours in it over 3-4 days and got all but one achievement, so I didn't exactly hate it. It was just a lot less memorable than the games that inspired it. I can replay Super Metroid once a year and it's still just as good as it was 23 years ago, I'm not sure I'll ever reinstall AV now that I've thoroughly played it.

For $10 though? Can't go wrong.

 
I wish they’d let you do pre-loads even for physical games. Download them before you get them, then just stick the disc in to activate it. Seems like it would be simple enough.

After reading some reviews of AC: Origins, I’m anxious to play but having to wait for it to install after picking it up at midnight sucks.
 
Having a hard time deciding if I'm going to pick up any Dead Rising games.  I have some credit from that Rakuten deal earlier and so far I seem set on Tides of Numenera and Sonic All-Stars Racing.  The Dead Rising series looks fun but all of the reviews I keep on reading seem mixed on the more recent games which seem to be on a better sale than the earlier games.  The earlier games I've read seem to be very good based on reviews but are regularly on sale for the current price.  Any thoughts on DR3 or DR4 with season pass?  Are they worth playing?

Also, looking at Outast.  I have the the first one in my backlog from a previous GWG month but I'm tempted to get the Whisteblower add on in this sale and wait for Outlast 2 to continue to drop in price.  That being said, I wonder if Outlast Trinity goes down to $15 by Black Friday?  Seems like most places have dropped it to $30 so it may be worth the wait.  Any thoughts on those games?

I've been waiting anxiously for Trackmania to drop below $16. I consider this one a success based on that alone. Aside from that, I only own one of the four (Nights) so hey, not bad...
