I don’t have the patience for puzzle games anymore, if I get stuck I feel like I’m just wasting time I could be doing something else.

I do use a guide when I play them now, well cause achievements lol.

Personally, I feel like you'd get more game with Witcher 3 complete edition, and you'd be spending less money. Witcher 3 is a fantastic game with some incredible DLC, imo. I too love the AC series and i kinda agree about how Unity and Syndicate were the same old, but at the same time you could tell they were trying to improve upon it. But for me, I sorta wanna wait until Origins price drops before I grab it because of that very reason.

Has anyone bought the Gold Edition of the new South Park game?  If so, can you confirm that the Gold Edition DLC code behaves like various other Ubisoft Gold Edition games?

I don't know how to describe it. It wasn't input lag. It was like on an old tv when a VHS would get messed up or a channel wasn't clear, the image would have waves in it. I noticed it most during the time trials since it would cause me to mess up. It would only be for a second, but when I noticed it and intentionally made my character look around all crazy it would happen a bit longer. It could've been that there was so much going on in the level and I was trying to look around so fast it was having trouble loading. If you didn't notice it maybe it was something to do with my tv.

Yep, it's definitely part of the game as part of the protagonist's disorientation. Glad it wasn't a frequent thing but it was kind of cool when done sparingly.

What's really cool about QUBE is that none of the developers are programmers, they won a contest for indie development using the Unreal Development Kit, which has visual GUI so non-programmers can create things, and used the prize money from the contest to turn their small demo into the full game.

I have the opposite experience. I frequent two other forums for D&D and judo, and while there are rarely off-topic threads, I pretty much never see off topic posts within dedicated threads. Anytime there are off topic posts, they get deleted quickly and the offender ushered to a more appropriate location for his mad ranting. This particular thread seems to be full of insane shut ins who only want to socialize with people buying into the same gaming platform. I don't follow sports, and most of what you guys talk about doesn't make it to a regular news story, so this is literally the only place I find out about little Luke's swollen lymph nodes or Jaeron Jabraeeeezy's epic rebound.

I don't care for it, but it's been made clear to me that asking for it to stop is somehow more annoying. I would love if this thread only got updated because of something relevant to xbl or the games on sale, but instead I have to scroll through multiple pages just to follow a review of Qube.



I watched my buddy play Fractured but Whole last night... so close to Black Friday but I don't think I can restrain myself!

So, Ni No Kuni 2 is coming to Xbox One.....interesting because I just read an interview where the NIS America head honchos basically buried Microsoft and their apparent "lack of support toward Japanese developers".

Oh well, at least Bandai Namco seems to be fully on board with the One has they showed Tekken 7 at last year's E3 when everyone assumed it was going to another PS4 console exclusive. And this year they showcased the Dragon Ball fighting game and Code Vein.

Kicker here is that I won't ever play any of those games  :p

Hot Scoop, Zod! That is awesome news. I played a lot of the first one on PS3. Never finished it though. Had the sequel preordered on PS4, gonna cancel cuz I'd rather play it on X. Looks like digital only in the US. Disc release UK only.

This is great. When I sold my PS4 Pro the only game I was kind of sad that I wouldnt be able to play was NNKII. Was going to end up getting it on PC probably, but XBO release is so much better. No more sellers remorse on my PS4. :D

Think just a few posts were nuked. Doubt it was due to the politics stuff (there’s plenty of posts left from that). I think it was probably due to CAG going down and they probably restored from a backup that didn’t have some of the last few posts before it died.

Couldn't get this to work for me even though I have twitch prime and a uplay account. It keeps saying I don't have an account.....

On a side note. I'm not really sure if I'm sold about Ni No Kuni 2. Reading about the development of the game has lead me to believe they changed everything about what I loved in the first one....

Not sure what we would talk about from say Thursday to Monday evening. I think a little off topic banter is good. Especially for shut ins?

The political stuff does get pretty nasty pretty quick but the rest seems like people with like interests shooting the shit in between sales and trying to help each out out with games and stuff. Even a bit of non XBox video game discussion from time to time.

Maybe just stop reading it Thursday or so and come back Monday? There really isn't much XBL deals discussion most of the rest of the week.

I like that in this thread we all can post free stuff, and list our thoughts on a game, or give away a few xbox codes, as well as share xbox deals found elsewhere during the week. It makes the thread a smorgasbord of goodness! 

True we may get side tracked from time to time (I'm guilty of this myself), however if we can do this without being complete jerks about it I don't see a problem with it. (Thank you mods for keeping us at least partially civil) 

I'm not huge into politics or sports but as long as everyone treats others as they would like to be treated, then this thread will remain one of the best places on the internet to me. 

At least the sports talk gives me something to say at the 'ole water cooler everyday at work. Politics talk just reminds me to love those close to me and enjoy ever game like it's my last, as we are all  fuck one way or another and our time to enjoy the little things in life isn't permanent.

Sorry for the rant/South Park is still awesome. 23 hours in and I hope it wont end anytime soon. I'm not sure which game I should work to finish next... Open to suggestions!

tomorrow is thursday, anyone have BC predictions? with the past few weeks seeing 360 versions of xbone games come BC I'm still holding out hope for Transformers FoC and Batman Arkham Asylum, don't want to rebuy the ports but probably will eventually.

 
So... Shadow of War... 49 hours and 37 minutes to completion. Never bought a lootbox (except for the ones from in game tokens). Had tons of really good captains. Killed a shit ton of Orcs. Played all the way through the game (595/1000) without ever really mining for any cheevos. Didn't even spend the gold tokens I earned in the daily and weekly challenges... Anyone who doesn't buy this game because... "lootboxes... derrr... evil!!!" can fuck right off. Game is amazing and lootboxes aren't really useful at all. I guess if you just want to hammer the game out in a few less hours, you can with some lootboxes, but killing Orcs captains is the best part of the damn game...

The end bosses got a little frustrating, but once you learned the way to do it, it was fine. 

Solid 9/10.

 
Sounds like good motivation for me to fire up my $4 copy of the first one.

BC stuff... hoping for Max Payne 3. Rockstar is one of the few publishers to align sales with BC announcements.

I feel the best way to tell the developer, publisher, and industry, that we do not want this shit, is through my wallet. Because that is the only thing they understand.

I'm assuming others read the article about Activision patenting a matchmaking system designed purely to encourage spending money on microtransactions? Not matchmaking for the most enjoyment, or the best connection, or the best player experience. Matchmaking to encourage the spending of money.

The fact that this type of patent is not only on the minds of these companies, but that they also went through the trouble of patenting it, screams red flag to me. Therefore, I'll vote with my wallet to hopefully preempt that garbage. /rant

It's a stronger statement to buy the game and play it to completion and not buy a single loot box with real money. According to CRG it's quite possible to do this and still enjoy the game.

It's all good. I have no skin in the game. Lootboxes don't bother me because I only buy them for games where I want to buy them (i.e. - supporting Fortnite because I freaking love the game) and, when I do buy them, it's with credit that Gamestop gave me, anyway.

I just don't want anyone not buying a game they want because they listened to the "errr nerrr... Ya gotta buy der lertberxes ter win!!!" idiots. Just off of daily and weekly challenges, I have 600 gold coins. Just from playing the game (and all of my forts are leveled up like crazy) I have like 30,000 silver coins left over (epic crates are 1500 each). I don't think many people are playing the online portion of the game, anyway. It was my experience that the few heroes I got form boxes (4 from the preorder bonus and a few from the 1500 silver credit boxes) were underleveled compared to the Orc Captains that you had available to beat in the game.

 
You could also just buy it used and WB doesn't get a dime from you. Which is funny, since DLC and lootboxes are, in part, to help monetize products even after they enter the used market.

 
In regards to the UHH3 competition: 

I made the knockout round after placing 258th. So I made it because of the roughly 20 people ahead that weren't eligible for the knockout. But on the other hand, I earned two achievements that did not count. So I feel justified in making the round of 256.

My opponent currently has 187k achievement points to my 40k. He's also up on me (as of this posting) 11-6. And I work the next two days with two twelve hour shifts on the weekend. I'm pretty sure he's going to beat me. I just hope now that he closes out his 20 so I can start up Shadow of War or South Park.

All in all, it was pretty fun. It made me play some of those games in my backlog. Now I want to play some new games.

 
I love Shadow of War so much I might buy some loot boxes just to support the devs. 8/10 for me because the story isn't that great and I had to reload the game two times because of getting stuck in a glitch.
