Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Really? I've thought most PS4 LE consoles have looked like total trash, the God of War one was laughable and the new Spiderman while a cool design feels like it would look so gaudy after a few weeks of a giant bright red thing in my entertainment center. The translucent blue they have for 500,000,000 Playstations sold looks alright. I did like some of the dumb Xbox 360 faceplates since you could change them up.
I Really like the Yakuza, Final Fantasy XV (which I do own!), Uncharted and the MGS designs. There are some gaudy ones for sure (the CoD WWII camouflage is a goddamn abomination), but I feel overall I just prefer their designs compared to XBox's.

I liked the wood grain faceplate. Never bought one since I only ever had the white versions of the original 360 design and I think it would've only looked cool on a black one for that 70's/early 80's tech vibe like the 2600 had.

Never been into most LE consoles, though. I remember digging the Halo 3 and R2D2 360 consoles. Not a fan of most of the Ones as they tend to split designs across the middle. I do have the Mountain Dew version of the OG XBox, but just because I found it at a yard sale for cheap. Guy said he volunteered for the fire company and just pulled all the caps out of the trash.

Did just buy a blue controller for the XBox One as it was only a little more than a black one on Amazon and my first two were strafing and had issues with the bumper buttons. Really digging the blue one so far as I like the extra little bit of grip on the back. Not sure which all ones come with that now.

The R2 360 was awesome, that said, I have the Halo Reach 360 (like it enough, the silver is cool), the Darth Vader PS4 (simple but I like it), and I had the Gears Xbox One S which was probably my favorite looking LE console but I sold it when the X came out lol, I also have the Darth Vader PSP :p The 3DS has some of my favorite designs for CEs though, and DS had some cool ones as well, I do like the Spiderman PS4 myself.

I agree about the spiderman design, its a bit much. On the other hand i love 500m one for some reason to point i thought about it ordering it even though i dont like playstations.

I'm Xbox 4 life but I think the God of War PS4 has an amazing design to the point that I almost bought one and am even considering buying a used Gamestop one.

I was trying to find the link that MN tweeted that would summarize all of the announcements from Gamescom and stumbled upon this one:

https://twitter.com/majornelson/status/1031919833129005057

That is a sweet looking console.
are we really going to keep ignoring the poor wording/grammar of this tweet? What a confusing mess. It just supports the notion that this is a stupidly named console (although that's not my own opinion).

In case anyone is wondering about the Sea of Thieves updates, I’m watching my fiancé play it with friends (can’t watch/play too long myself because something about the game not having a reticle makes me legit seasick), and they just got surrounded by two ghost ships and a Megalodon at the same time and it was hilarious to watch them scream and suffer and try (and fail) not to die. They did prevent the ship from sinking and eventually got away, but it seemed like an intense battle. So that’s a thing in the game now.

Also, on the special edition system discussion, I love my Halo 3 360 (wish I could’ve gotten the Reach one or the Star Wars one as well, but no need at the time and too late now obviously). I’m still upset that I decided not to get the ODST bundle at GameStop that had a controller with it because that controller actually seemed to match the H3 system more than the one that came with the system (extra lettering and symbols and whatnot). My weak spot is Nintendo, though. At one point I owned so many DS/3DS systems it was ridiculous. I have the NES-themed GBA SP, the Triforce DS Lite, the Ocarina 3DS small, the Pikachu 3DS XL, the Pokemon New 3DS, and the Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL (between me and the lady). Also had the Link Between Worlds 3DS XL but sold that one on eBay a while back.

First step to fixing a problem is admitting you have a problem. Second step is to stop buying stupid shit you don’t need. Third step is to start selling some of the stupid shit you’ve acquired over the years haha.

Edit: almost forgot, I’m getting the Spidey PS4, too. Been pumped for the game and I don’t own a PS4 yet and a bunch of my friends do, so it’s time to jump in on the fun. Don’t worry, I’ll jusf save everyone the time and report myself.

Anyone here owned any TCL TV for over 2 years and it’s still going good? My little one ran a toy across our 48 inch Samsung 1080p TV and now I notice some dead pixels, 6 spots. You can only notice it when your eyeball is up close, can’t see it from where we usually sit to watch, which is a good thing. But with my bday and our anniversary coming around, I think it’s time for that 4K upgrade. I’m eyeing that TCL 55 P or 6 Series since the budget is about $600ish. Although I also want to get another gaming console, so I may lean towards the 4 or 5 series so I get can both within the budget. We’ll see. We usually watch movies together mostly and I game with the little ones and when I have the time. I realized we’ve had our Sammy for 12 years now, besides having maintenance to replace the motherboard, it’s been going strong so I do like Samsungs. But I’m willing give TCL a try especially with that price.

I don’t own a TCL so can’t speak to that side, but if you can sacrifice a few inches in screen size, Best Buy is running a deal right now that’s the 49 inch 5 series with an XB1S for $499.

I bought the TCL 5 series with the S that bestbuy has currently, promptly traded that in for 250 towards an X and so far really like the TV, UHD Blu rays look amazing

We spent an extra couple hundred to get the LG 4K. You might want to consider the same. My thought from research is TCL is great for gaming but mediocre in movies. So I paid a bit more to get a system that is better for movies.

More importantly, and this is why I’m replying to you, the screen is more durable. The guy at Best Buy slapped the screen pretty hard as part of demo. Supposed to take a decent beating and that sold us, considering my little ones are crazy

Worth the extra for the P or 6 series in my opinion. The local dimming makes a world of difference especially with HDR content. My cousin has the 6 series upgraded from a plasma and absolutely loves the picture and the thing runs almost 12 hours a day with no issues so far and they've had it for around 3 months.

I have another friend with last years 4 series which I believe is still full array just no local dimming so blacks aren't nearly as deep, plus the panel seems cheaper as viewing angles aren't as great as the 6 series. He's happy with it and no issues for him either.

If you can spring for the 5 Series I would do that. The 4 Series wouldn't be a bad choice, but the technology in the 5 Series wold future proof you a little more.

FYI, here is the first screenshot I've taken with my new 6 Series 65". Thanks to all the advice a month ago that helped me decide!

I looked up all the fall Xbox bundles. What I love about those is usually all the bundle games end up cheap digital copies on CDKeys website or elsewhere.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Fallout 76, Forza Horizon 4, and Battlefield V all got holiday bundles. Time to watch for those cheap codes this fall!

I agree, I just picked up a 43in 5 series to use as a second PC monitor and it's a great performer for the price. HDR is average compared to my Sony 900e but that's expected in this price range.

Overall image quality is great and would recommend it over the 4 series.

Also congrats on the 6 series purchase. I'd be interested in one if they decide to release a 43in version eventually.

Corp Longshot in tonight's Gears Dev stream.  They have 2 quests up for it, one has a retweet and TBA part, the "alternate" one is TBA.

Edit: The TBA parts will involve the "watch" component later in the stream.  If you complete the retweet part, then you need to watch 15 minutes later.  The alternate will apparently be the regular watch 30 minutes.

Also, the map Boxes from Gears UE is coming back for a 2v2 Gnasher playlist.  The Feral Horde pack is back this weekend for 400 credits (higher chance for Epic Horde skill cards).  Preliminary list of the community achievement suggestions.

So I decided to pre-order the Fallout 76 bundle. I've been playing on my VCR model for years and I figured with it releasing the week before Black Friday, I would put down for the next three months and then update my TV to 4k the next week.

Yay?

Edit: What games should I look out for once I update to 4K? Which ones have blown you away?

Shocking.... re-up 11 is in the preliminary Gears update list 🙄

I like some of the Easter egg achievements, like finish horde with a squad of Dom, Marcus, Cole, Baird and Anya

Timer quests have begun. 15 minutes if you retweeted, 30 if you didn't.
