This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

It sounds like Call of Duty with mechs.
Good lord. Armored Core has been around almost as long as the original PlayStation! You do it a disservice by dismissing it with such a comparison. Armored Core (at least the games I have played) are much deeper than that. You go on missions, then use the money you've earned to improve your mech... and there's a huge amount of customization involved. I'm not sure it can really be compared to anything in particular, but I will say that it stomped earlier mech games to pieces with its depth and playability.

My only problem is that the series seemed to lose its way when it was released for later systems. I don't seem to recall much that was worth getting excited about in the PS2 games, and I utterly hated the demo I played of AC4 on the Xbox 360. I dearly hope this new game is better, because I haven't seen flattering reviews of AC5.

I'd get an official HD if I could afford it. Doing a swap with a third party drive though, no thanks. And USB's are cheap if you don't have a lot of money at one time. $15 is a lot more doable for some folks than $35+ is.

I also don't use ebay or paypal, my option would be buying refurb from GS, the 120gb is $36, which is a bit out of my range. The 250gb is $70, Way out of my range. That's why on birthdays/christmas I wish for these things...

I literately face palmed myself seeing a comment "It sounds like CoD with mechs" in regards to Armored Core. But *after exhaling with a smile* I came to terms with tendency of new gen gamers to compare everything to FPS giants like CoD. It's understandable that gamers of PS3/360 gen will compare everything to CoD. My little bro is 13 and he compares Halo to CoD, meaning that Halo is a rip-off of CoD. You just can't take kids seriously.

did I miss anything regarding X1 deals? PvZ was $29.99 last week, anything similar?
x1 deals will become a regular thing starting next month:

"Deals with Gold will also launch for Xbox One in June, delivering discounts for great games each month, with significant savings for Xbox Live Gold members. The first titles offered in June will include “Forza Motorsport 5,” “Ryse: Son of Rome,” and a few other surprises. In the coming months, we will offer significant savings of up to 50 – 75 percent off certain titles. And new on Xbox One, we will launch a virtual VIP room exclusive to Xbox Live Gold members where we will feature free games, monthly deals, and other great benefits."

Isn't half of the Beautiful Katamari game, DLC?

I think I picked it up when it was $3.74 during the holidays this past year. Guess they don't feel like being that generous with the price again.
There are eight levels that cost (I think) a dollar each now. Back when they launched it felt like a rip-off since they're on-disc. But $8 for 8 levels is pretty fair I think. Beautiful Katamari is already a really long game - insanely long for Achievement hunters.

Also keep in mind that the disc used to go for $30+ as it was kind of scarce. Not sure about now, but $6 is really cheap compared to that. Also, it's a Katamari game. So that tells you right there whether you need to buy it or not.

Looks like there's nothing for me this week. This will give mi wallet a beautiful time for it to recover from the 20€ I spent on PvZGW last week. My inner CAG is still bleeding for that.

How many hours until old deals expire? Im not home right now and want to jump on Deus Ex, but I have some money on my account I want to spend first :/

Are those chinese internal hard drives safe? I've heard horror stories regarding those but the price difference makes it super tempting than going to Best Buy and shelling out $120.

Tales, Katamari, and Tekken are good.

Eternal Sonata is nice, but it has been lower.

I haven't played the latest Armored Core, but the last few I did were rather bad. It was From's flagship series before Dark Souls took over, so they pushed out a bunch of garbage ones so they could start work on the next one without losing interest.

I just finished Dungeon Siege 3. The game is fun, the story is nice. Also it is replayble since it's got 4 characters, an open storyline with multiple decisions you can make, coop, etc.. However, one playthrough is short, my savefile is around 11 hours, and I completed all missions and side-missions on normal. Granted, I think it does not count time in menus, and maybe not even cutscenes, plus I kinda ignored optional cheevos, but that isn't much at all. If you add up all the characters' playtime and some coop action, it'll get to pretty nice numbers, but if you are planning to just enjoy the storyline once and that's it, it'll be one of the shortest retail RPGs you'll come around probably.

Tekken looks like the best deal of the lot, but I already have so many fighter's that I barely play. Usually ssf4 and Killer Instinct steal my time when I'm in the fighter mood.

Thanks for the impressions of the game. Still on the fence after the demo. Is there much open world to the game or is it pretty straight forward so to speak.

It is straight-forward. There are occasional hidden areas, secondary quests that require you to go a bit outside, and there are a few areas with multi-choice paths, but at the end of the day it's very linear, and the map is pretty small even, few areas overall. You basically follow a path, kill monsters, go on. Even the town section of the game is literally a straight-forward road with buildings around. It is rather linear, yeah, no trace of open-world really, albeit you can backtrack and stuff, though you'll hardly ever have reasons to do so besides the (short and easy) side-missions, that I always completed before the main quests though and still finished in less than 12 hours.

I've got a 320GB external one and no problems whatsoever. Best accessory I ever got for my 360, as it finally allowed me to download all the GWG games I'd built up but couldn't install.

I bought mine off Amazon though. I don't do eBay. Look on Amazon and you'll find a 320 drive for anywhere as low as $60 if you're a bit patient. The prices fluctuate a fair amount, even from hour to hour. So if you check once or twice a day you can usually find it drop from the $70-80 range they often are going for.

That one is $66 right now.

If you need an internal for Slim, I can't vouch for anything either way. I just know the external one I got is awesome. My understanding is it uses good Western Digital drives inside the enclosure.

The disc was $15 on New Egg for what seemed like forever. I bought my digital copy for full price since I had points to burn at the time.

Meh, what a crummy date night  Seems like I had the same food previously and the date itself wasn't interesting(I swear I've met her before and just didn't have interest back then). At least I had the basketball game to look at in the background. If not, it would have been a wasted night. There's always next week to look forward to......

Can anyone sell me on Beautiful Katamari?  It seems fun but I've never played any of those games.  What I read about from reviews said it was good but not as good as the others and not as polished as it should be.  Having no basis for comparison whatsoever, those statements don't mean anything to me.

It seems to me like Super Monkey Ball, only the monkey balls grow.  That didn't sound nearly as disgusting in my head.  Is that pretty accurate?

I'm also debating TTT2 but I already have plenty of fighting games that I don't play.  Any particular reason to buy this one and probably not play it?

Any thoughts are welcome and appreciated.

Meh, what a crummy date night  Seems like I had the same food previously and the date itself wasn't interesting(I swear I've met her before and just didn't have interest back then). At least I had the basketball game to look at in the background. If not, it would have been a wasted night. There's always next week to look forward to......
Hey I thought you were married, with a million dollar house to look after : )

I second the request. I need "real talk yo" on Katamari, reviews that compare it to other games say nothing to me since I never played it. It looks fun, but I don't want to spend money (even little money) on a game I may not like at all.

I believe there is a demo out for it, I bought it when it released because me and the girlfriend had so much fun with the demo. I could try to explain it, but really you need to play it.

Also it released at $40 i think, and they charged for those dlc levels, so i wasn't too upset about it.

I try to be a good husband and set aside one night a week for.............yeah I don't know where I'm going with this. Guess I'll head over to the backlog and continue working on games like Forza Horizon & Halo 4. My wallet lives another day

Beautiful Katamari is NOT a good way to introduce yourself to the series. It's not as well designed as Katamari Damacy or even its sequel, We Love Katamari, which are both available on the PS2. Play those first before you consider Beautiful Katamari. If you have a Playstation 3, don't even bother... Katamari Forever on that system is an enhanced and improved version of the game, and its Dual Shock is a better fit for its gameplay than the Xbox 360's stock pad.

Anyway, what is Katamari Damacy? Well, did you ever build snowmen when you were a kid? It's very much like that. You're a tiny little green man pushing a sticky ball (hee hee) along the ground, picking up small objects along the way. You use both thumbsticks on the controller to move your Katamari, kind of like the tank controls in oldies like Assault, Battlezone, and Vindicators. Push both sticks forward and your Katamari moves forward; push one stick forward and the other stick back and the Katamari turns. It seems weird from the description but it's very intuitive once you've spent a few minutes with it. (It's also why it works better on Playstation systems, since the thumbsticks are parallel to each other.)

Anyway! Once you've got enough crud sticking to your Katamari, it grows larger, and the world around you shrinks accordingly. You'll start by picking up thumbtacks and coins and chess/shogi pieces, and after you get large enough, people will run in terror from your Katamari as you add them to your pile of junk. Play long enough and well enough and you can pick up entire skyscrapers and bodies of water, making you feel like Godzilla, if he had been a dung beetle. It's quite a rush!

So yeah. Katamari Damacy is a game you ought to experience... but if you have the option, experience the original on the Playstation 2 first. Beautiful Katamari is... okay, but not the best the series has to offer. Frankly, I think the game suffers from the same problem Crazy Taxi did, which was incredibly fun and novel in its debut but quickly ran out of gas in the sequels. There just wasn't anywhere they could take the series after that.

Cool, thanks. Very useful info. Someone else reminded me that demos exist so I'm gonna give that a shot but from what you described, unless it's extremely fun in a Peggle-y sort of way, I'm not going to dig it.

Oh yeah, avoid the PSP version of Katamari Damacy like the plague. There hasn't been this much loading in a video game since the Neo-Geo CD.

Well I played KD on 360 and the controls were a little of a learning curve but don't think they hurt the game any. Haven't played the PS2 game so that's probably why. If you haven't played the others I think you will not notice it, it's a fun wacky Japanese game at a great bargin-bin price.

$2.40

The current CoD Ghosts promotion ends tomorrow, so hopefully they'll start a better one soon.
Thank you Bloomy and yeah hopefully. Only decided to check since they emailed me. I am pissed I didn't get my 25 cents (used to be 20 Microsoft points) for my birthday. Now I know how they can afford to roll out Kinect less Xbox One's.

Idk they still are giving credit like candy with Bing Rewards. Think I'm getting $3 a week now with their double point days. They probably shifted resources over there.

Thank you very much, that about clears it up. I'll try the demo to see if I find the controls comfortable enough and I like the gameplay overall, sounds fun but also something that risks getting boring fast. I do have a PS3 but I mostly play on X360, for such a price I'm willing to get the "inferior" version just to boost my X360 backlog, lol. I'll probably spend the week pondering and deciding based on next week's sales.

Duke Nukem Forever says hi.

I remember trying the Katamari Damacy demo on PS2 and being bored out of my mind. Rolling around with a time limit trying to get the biggest ball. That game was too weird for me. But hey, at least it's better than sweeping ... I mean curling.

They have double points on Tuesday. I always save my points and redeem them for Swagbucks which I turn into a $5 Amazon card. I also earn an extra quarter in the process.

Beautiful Katamari was my first Katamari and I enjoyed it a lot. The controls take a bit of time to nail, but it's one of those games you will enjoy if you like weird and quirky games. I remember leaving my 360 at an ex's house a few years ago only to come back a week later and find her playing the first few levels of the game over and over due to it just being weird fun.

I have never played any other Katamari on console. If you are looking for something different, grab it. The DLC is cheap enough too.

You don't want that. Really.
You seem to have an opinion and the notion that yours is a universal truth. Wha?

Yeah like what was said last time Ridge Racer went on sale many others, me included thanks to them, suggest the game based on the creative track editor and low disc space requirement. I put my hat in the ring for recommend, esp if you like arcade racing.

DLed Beautiful Katamari, turned out to be 2.8 GB which was a plus.
