This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Hi, my 120Gb died, so i was looking for cheap drives and found this on a store WD5000 BUCT $46.

This drive isn't listed on HDDRHACK supported drives, but some users in another forum says some drives not listed works.

Help D:

Are you on the 1409 preview program? One of the "known issues" is apps/games crashing at startup. They say they're working on a fix, and a hard reboot seems to be the workaround for now.
Indeed, I am. That kinda sucks, but it's worth being in the Beta for it. Oh well, thanks for the clarification.

How about The Golf Club? I'm not seeing many reviews.
I'm still waiting on Newegg to e-mail me my freaking Xbox live gift card (been almost 11 hours, they say it's usually sent within 1). However, I watched a bit of some streams, and here are just some general observations I've gathered:

--There is no progression system, meaning no character or equipment upgrades.

--It didn't sound like there is any kind of club customization, nor is there licensed gear or players, though you can change your person's gender and race, and I assume that there is a decent amount of variety for apparel.

--The announcer is SUPER annoying. It's like they had an intern do the voice work, and he wasn't happy to help.

--Courses are shared cross-platform, meaning you should have a nearly-endless supply of places to play.

--The traditional metered system is gone, giving way to what I can only describe best as the kicking in Madden 25 where it's stick-based for power and accuracy.

--The game's sounds are pretty mediocre, particularly the sound of the ball when it hits the ground, which sounds highly fake.

All told, it doesn't seem bad, but it also seems to need quite a bit of work. Despite being a full release version, it seems beta-worthy, in terms of polish. I'm hoping to get my Xbox card soon so I can buy and play it, at which point I'll gladly stream the gameplay, if people want to see it and get some feedback (and I'll post some here).

I don't really know what to think though. The claim is that the game is completely skill-based, but like I said, it looks like your swing is just playing Madden 25 and kicking over and over. There is also no noticeable impact of having a smooth transition from the backswing to the downswing, as I'd see pauses at the top of the swing result in shots with 100% power. Hopefully that's an aspect they improve upon as the game gets worked on.

I think my biggest thing is that I'd like a club creator to go with the course creator. Since they lack licensed equipment, meaning I can't have my Mizuno irons or Callaway wood in the game, I'd AT LEAST like to have unique clubs from others. Let us design the head, choose steel and graphite shafts for the irons, and have varied equipment that focuses on accuracy vs. feel, like real equipment does with game-improvement irons and such.

Oh, and it would be sweet if they added a golf cart racing mode. Put us on the course in carts and give us some asinine, arcade racing. I'd love that.

Has anyone verified that cross-buy still works for Ghosts season pass?

superjon27 (post #69082468 on SD) wrote that cross-buy still worked on 07-08-2014.

Ah damn, just bought Bully for the same price on Steam because I didn't know it was on sale on the 360 too. Granted the Steam version probably looks and runs better, but then again I'm not sure on that.

Looks like a sequel is confirmed:

boxartlg.jpg
lol. They changed the file overnight!

I assume the only difference between the disc and download version of Trials Fusion is the disc comes with the season pass?  (Well and that it has a disc as well)

Thank you for breaking it down. I think I'll pass on it for now. No progression kills it for me.

Heh, too slow Microsoft. I made mine a month ago. If you are willing to make your own the price is cut in half. :)
You can also buy them pre-made on amazon. I think I got a 320GB in the caddy off branded for $40. Only drawback is no xbox OG compatibility but if you need to play em that bad you can buy a whole xbox for that price lol

that's also an easy fix by hooking it up to you computer and putting the partitions in order.

This confirms where they got that 500 gb image on that page you linked a few weeks ago. So glad this is legit.makes me less worried about using it. Thanks again for the link.
I just wish MS was more open about simple things like this. I mean how hard is it t] say "hey we heard you and larger drives are coming".

Maybe because they actually wanted to do it, but announce it when it is actually going to be available and not have to be susceptible to leaks and hacks?

For Max Payne 3 are there a bunch of install packs like with GTA 5?

and are they mandatory to download if i only wanna play single player

I think there are 3 packs that must be present to launch the single-player campaign, the whole thing is over 15gb. I'm not sure if you have to have them all for multi-player, as I never played it.

I felt that way at first as well. However, it doesn't really kill it for me. I kind of like the lack of progression because it really just serves as an artificial time sink barrier. In Powerstar Golf, I had to switch to crap equipment when I wanted to play with my brother-in-law on my Xbox because he doesn't have the One himself. This will let us pick it up and play without worrying about silly equipment mods. Plus, it only took maybe a month of play before I owned basically everything in the game that I play with now, so it's not like it's a big deal anyway.

Now, if I could just get Newegg to stop being so darned lazy. Over 24 hours and I still don't have my Xbox gift card, so I can't get the game.

Really regret not picking up Titanfall yesterday for $25.  Just got my Xbox One on Sunday and loving it so far.  Trying to find a copy of Titanfall (preferably Digital) for around $20 if anyone has any ideas...

Bingo.

Yeah, seems like they missed the ball on a few things. If it wasn't a $35 price point it would be more excusable not to have anything like that.

Are people really complaining that everything is unlocked from the start?

What happened to playing games for fun and not to rank up/unlock shit?

What happened to playing games for fun and not to rank up/unlock shit?
That's part of the fun?

To me the perfect balance for sports games, and golf in particular, is to where you can play the game and your results are left almost entirely to skill. I like being able to unlock more stuff, more courses, equipment, customization, whatever.

Is titanfall just as active on 360 as on the xbone?
I don't know how active it is on the One, but it's active enough in Campaign and Attrition. CTF can be hit or miss at finding a match quickly, and the DLC is even harder at times (at least, the first pack; only played one game on the pack that released yesterday). I do tend to see a lot of the same people during my gaming time, but you could always change servers, I imagine.

I thought to add this: I'm a bit impatient when it comes to getting in a game, so maybe it's not that hard to find watch in some of the other modes, but I didn't like waiting. Plus, the lobby system was only updated yesterday, and was previously very stupid. As fun as the game is, the UI for the parts of not playing, like menus and lobbies, are still pretty bad.

PSA: 1409 should be up for everyone in the preview program now.

I've had it since it first came out on a limited basis, but MS sent out a message on XBL a little bit ago that it's available for the entire preview program now.

Microsoft pulled the plug on Ascend on Xbox 360, seemingly without alerting the devs ahead of time. They're offering bonuses for new players on their PC beta as a result.

Damn. Never did get to that game.

I've been getting some games knocked out with these recent sales. Beat the Halo 4 campaign and already started Metal Gear Rising. I forgot what its like to actually play the games we get.

I really enjoyed the beta, but got banned before the full game came out. Maybe MS got salty that their next Toy Soldiers isn't an MS exclusive.

This past date night concluded quite tragically. We made the mistake of peeking into Microsoft for what was up on discount Monday night and all we could hear was: "Savings do not exist in this dojo, does it?" "Deals do not exist in this dojo, does it?" "Bargains do not exist in this dojo, does it?" "Prepare!" and then the bad news was broken on this thread Monday night.

Still it is such a missed opportunity for me, when there's still plenty of publishers with XBLA games and DLC they can offer instead of regurgitating the same usual suspects. Why can't the Live team negotiate deals with D3 Publisher, 505 Games, Namco-Bandai, CodeMasters, Aksys, Koei-Tecmo, etc. as they do with Ubisoft, 2k, and Rockstar? Microsoft Studios can make offers themselves if they ran out of ideas to put on discount. There's all sorts of DLC never been discounted before I would purchase at a lowered price such as: Crackdown (1), Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Castlestorm, Forza, Defense Grid, Ilomilo, Crimson Alliance, Keflings, Magic, Minecraft, Motorcross Madness, N+, Trials Evolution..

For next week, I'm guessing at best we get Republican Simulator DLC discounted, at worse it's time for sports bling to get a discount again. While appropriate and not bad, it's just not diverse enough to make the great sales I can envision. I suppose this is all a result of me staying on the 360 while almost all of MS' focus is on the One. The EA Access was the last great discount offer on the One to my recollection. I hope that is not the equivalent to Summer of Arcade for an excuse to offer poor discounts. After Xbox Rewards slowing down to this week's phoned-in discount offers, it bums me out as a CAG.

I bought Crystal Defenders, though I'd like the discount for it to be bigger, but it's been 4 years from last sale on this game. As MS likes to delist games without previous announce, I'll get it now.

Also, Poison and Bison are the only characters that look specially cool in the new vacation costume pack for USF4 imo.
I didn't intend on getting Yosumin Live! but thanks to this thread catching this week's discounts early, I scrambled to get it last minute just because I've not seen it discounted before (I know bad reason).

I will have to disagree on the new USF4 costumes, they're pretty cool. I find a lot of those new costumes take their designs even further than the older costumes for zaniness and extra modeled bits than before, a plus in my book for variety. As a dictator user in the past, I will at least agree Bison does have a very cool new costume.

People have started to request the option to remove items for the "ready to install" list on the feedback website.
Strange, I have not found a "better discounts for Gold members" suggestion there. Maybe we should storm the site and let them know it is what we want, In any case, great link, closest thing we have to whispering sweet nothings into Microsoft's ear

Having done a bit of research on 2015 while they were downloading, it seems everyone is butthurt about it having a pay wall for the premium cards along with the omission of 2hg.

[snip]

Long story short, if you like magic, this should be a no brainer, though I would definitely do research before buying.
Likes= Magic: The Gathering
Dislikes= paying for Magic: The Gathering

Research would suggest I wait for a discount, which I expect around December for the 2015 edition. I do not believe any of the additional deck packs for prior years had ever been on discount either, only the expansions, and the only expansion in my opinion which was definitely worth it was 2012 for its really fun archenemy mode. I rank the games as such: 2012 > 2014 > 2013 >>> original, and I do wonder where Magic 2015 will fall in that list. So I 'm looking forward to hearing/reading your opinions of the game.

The microtransactions irk me a bit, primarily because somehow it seems the micro part is ignored in microtransactions these days. Sadly the only microtransaction prices on the 360 I felt was fair was Bulletwitch where costumes were free, and remixed stages were a quarter; so for other games' DLC asking for dollars it better be lots of content like the single player story DLCs in the Bioshock series [also, most people, unlike me, does not like Bulletwitch, but I liked it and felt it was worth the price for the DLC microtransactions]. Pretty much I want to know how much grinding will I do to avoid paying, as I do on Full House Pro, where part of my fun is how much I can do without ever putting a cent towards the game (not counting the Gold subscription, which aside from WSOP, is only for the Deals/Games with Gold, and I can drop Full House Pro like a rock at any time). Pricing on DLC has gone mad since, and I want to pay something but never as much as say the DOA5U DLC which shoots the price of these games higher than NeoGeo cartridges back in their day. How I wish for a more sane price.

I've been waiting for a Mass Effect 3 DLC sale since January.
All I lack from 3 is "From Ashes" and the "Firefight Pack". The former when I thought a 30% discount was not significant enough and there would be a time it would at least see a 50% discount (seems like I was wrong, it never got any more sales) while the latter I do not think has seen any discount. However, I was really stupid back in the day to think Mass Effect 2 would get a Game of the Year/Complete edition and waited out through almost all the sales, and now here I am without any DLC (aside from the Dr.Pepper promo items) for the game. Fortunately I still intend on playing the first game again to bide time before continuing the rest of the trilogy, but I am not getting impatient, just angry at myself for strings of bad decisions leading me to not have the DLC. There hasn't even been many EA sales on the 360, they have DLC for plenty of games I'd want like Bulletstorm, Need For Speed Shift, Dante's Inferno, and definitely not Bioware games. I've been waiting, years.

That is my fault for keeping it in the backlog. I swear Ascend was part of the bargain for buying Summer of Arcade games once. Now, I am considering freeing the 2.1GB it takes up but may still want to hold onto it like a hoarder (similar to why I kept the NBA Elite 11 demo, fun and it still works). This puts me on notice for games I got which may get the same treatment from MS. Puts all those online only or almost online only titles a little higher on my priority list now. Just further proof I am getting abandoned on 360.

This is what happens with a bad date night. The world is crumbling. If anything, I messed up using an "overly attached girlfriend" link last time to describe date night, this week's would have been more appropriate. Ah well, for good news I hear Puyo Puyo Tetris is due out for Xbox One. Maybe next date night, they won't sweep the leg.

EDIT: Sorry EldritchOnRye, I hit "post" instead of "cancel" and posted prematurely ... let me clean up the mess ... I swear this doesn't happen often ...

I must be missing these paywalls with 2015.  Maybe I haven't unlocked enough cards yet but so far I just keep unlocking more cards without paying a dime.

Yeah...

Never tried it. Looked like another "free to play, buy our crap from our store, disguised as a game" game. I think they hit the 360's life cycle a bit too late. Everyone is either jumping ship to the One, or playing their backlogs waiting on the holiday releases on the 360.

The thing is that it was a part of Summer of Arcade last year, in that buying two SOA games got you some bonus item for Ascend when that came out later on.

Of the free to play stuff on the 360, I think Ascend was probably the best.  It had promise and the social aspects were interesting.  But at the end of the day, it suffers from what *ALL* F2P games suffer from.....they would be better, more complete games if they just charged us $5 or $10 and gave us the whole damn game.

The model works on phones or ipads, not consoles.

That being said.....I had a lot of fun with Pinball FX2 on the X1 tonight.  ;)
