This thread will maintain a list of all current and upcoming sales and markdowns on the Xbox Live Marketplace / Xbox Games Store for the USA.  YMMV in other regions.  If non-US sales are listed, they will be marked with their applicable region(s).

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

I picked up LEGO Lord of the Rings to add to my backlog of LEGO Games I've yet to play (Star Wars 3, Batman 2, Star Wars: Original Trilogy) and the LEGO Games I am only missing a couple of achievements on (Batman 1, Marvel, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars: Complete Saga).

I was hoping State of Decay the game would be on there, might scoop the DLC for the future.

Don't ever call me the M word.
...Mega?

calm down, this isn't the psn thread
True, the PSN thread is much more amusing.

Soooo...now that I've pissed off the natives, I find I need to ask some advice. I have Dead Rising 3, Ryse and KI, and have around $55 in my MS wallet. Are there any gotta have Xbone exlusives worth having right now or should I just keep it for Sunset? I'd usually want that physically, but since I have it there, what the hell.

Advice needed: I hear Spec Ops is a pretty good game, but is it worth buying a game I already know the story too?

I'm grabbing Watch Dogs for sure and will probably add atleast one other game.

I don't think anyone in here lumped all Latins into the Mexico category. The game is guacamelee and features a masked pro wrestler....this type of wrestler is from Mexico (or at least was originally). Therefore...his description of Mexican for a luchador is accurate....
No, I was not accusing anyone in here of doing that (sorry if anyone felt offended) I was just agreeing in why some people might find the term Mexican when used to refer to every Latin... just as the people in Latin America who call every white skinned person gringo even if they're European, African (yes there are white communities in Africa) or South American.

Yes, Guacamelee is set in Mexico and almost every reference is to the Mexican culture... amazing game!

Fwiw, in my experience there's a huge difference in knowing the story and experiencing it. Gameplay is pretty solid, so if it's something you're even mildly interested in I'd say go for it while it's cheap.

There's a lot of good stuff, but I'd wait a few more days to see what next GWG will be. Might be safe (from GWG) picking up Dead Rising 3 DLC: "Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha". It is $10 and comes with 500 Gamerscore. Think of it as an arcade game on 360 rather than DLC. Plenty of fun, especially with friends and if you are a fan of older Capcom games.

damn you read through pages and pages for that. wow. and of course tyler liked it. save your money for sunset. it looks like a heavy dlc game. did you buy the remix dead rising 3 dlc?

While I enjoyed Spec Ops, I wish I never knew anything about it before playing. I must admit that after I finished the game I wanted to go back and play it again. I would grab it for the price.

Crysis 3 multiplayer is really solid. Definitely satisfying my need for CoD style MP, and at a fraction of the price too. Can't go wrong with that.

Someone should try to talk me into or out of Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon. I've played a few hours of Far Cry 3 and absolutely loved it, and Blood Dragon looks awesome as well. But $10 seems a little steep for a game that I may or may not immediately get into (and will inevitably be cheaper down the road), and $5 seems steep for a comparatively short arcade game, especially when you look at all the other great GonD titles for sale out there right now. What do you guys think?

I already played and sold Forza Horizon, but I kinda want it again. I already have so many games in the backlog though; plus, I have the Crew and Horizon 2 coming soon.

Similar in concept, just Most Wanted failed in execution.
How? I felt like it did everything that Paradise did.

Burnout 3: Takedown and Burnout Revenge are two of my most favorite racing games of all time.  I wish they'd put out a solid sequel to those games on next gen.  I didn't like Paradise as much but it was OK, just not as good as the others.

Took me awhile to be sold on Paradise. It was missing modes that you expect to have in Burnout games. The online challenges were really addicting though and added a ton of extra time to the game. Not sure if I even finished single player.

Sorry MillerTime, both FarCry games are great and at good prices. I can't tell you to wait.

Paradise was my favorite Burnout. I played it regularly from 2008-2010. I've never played any other game for that length of time. Since I played it so much, I got pretty burnt out (pun intended) on racers for a few years (especially open world ones).

Not sure if you'd be interested in them on PC, but newegg has all 4 FarCry games for $16.

It does, but games play completely different.

The open world IMO makes Paradise the best game in the series, if it had Crash mode, probably best racing game ever.

$9.99 is a solid value for Far Cry 3. I would go so far as to say that even $19.99 is a good price for this great game.

Did anyone buy Ghosts season pass yet?

Does cross-buy still work?

i bought it last time it was on sale for 29.99 on 360 and got it free on the xbox one

I'm waiting as well!

I can confirm that cross-buy of Ghosts season pass still works as of 2014-08-26. I bought it for $25 on my Xbox 360 first and then bought it free on my Xbox One in the Ghosts in-game store.

I bit on Blood Dragon after hearing the near universal praise towards it. I'm about 30 minutes in and I'm not enjoying myself at all. The aiming seems a bit off and imprecise, and for a game that sets a tone for an ultra masculine 80's 'splosion porn, you sure do take damage insanely quickly.
I'm aware as I type this that I have predisposed expectations for the game, but as a huge Far Cry 3 fan it just doesn't feel nearly as fun or solid in terms of gameplay and control (not to mention that the health bars in no way reflect the tone that the game immediately sets).
The positives lie in its presentation and self-aware humor, which have given me more than a few good laughs.
Hope this unpopular opinion helps.

It is more about nostalgia. A lot of the references in the game are to older action movies. The gameplay itself goes back to older action movies.

Next time you play it, don't play it like FarCry 3. Play it like you put crack in every hole of your body. Run out in the middle of gunfire, jump around non-stop, never let go of the trigger even when out of bullets, yell out cheesy catchphrases, and use "pew pew" when you get a laser weapon. Couple other things to keep in mind...You kill death, it doesn't kill you. When enemies fire bullets at you, free breakfast. Blood Dragons are your best friends.

Haha alright I'll try that approach next time I play.

Yep, I also enjoyed a LOT more Farcry3. I got Blood Dragon due to the praise towards it as well, time ago, also for 3 bucks, and for that price I really couldn't ask for more. It has a lot of references from 80's and 90's movies and games, so it's kind of cool. Also, you are almost immortal (unless a Blood Dragon fries you, at the beginning of the game specially).

...Mega?

True, the PSN thread is much more amusing.

Soooo...now that I've pissed off the natives, I find I need to ask some advice. I have Dead Rising 3, Ryse and KI, and have around $55 in my MS wallet. Are there any gotta have Xbone exlusives worth having right now or should I just keep it for Sunset? I'd usually want that physically, but since I have it there, what the hell.
Get all three. All of them are awesome games, even Ryse is bad ass if a little repetitive

Immortal? Okay, obviously I'm doing something very wrong. I'll sort it out next time I play.

No, I agree. You die pretty easily in Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon compared to a lot of other games. Especially when you first start out, without any upgrades. The dude in FC3 is made of paper, even on the easiest difficulty.

Haven't played Titanfall that much yet, but nothing just screams out wow for me so far.  The wall running and jumping is pretty cool to see in a FPS though.

Battlefield 4 on the other hand... :whee:

Thanks for the input on the Far Cry games, guys. I think I'll skip out on Blood Dragon for now, grab and play Far Cry 3 and wait on Blood Dragon until it hits my sweet spot around $3.

It's killing me right now that Walking Dead Episode 5 is already out for other platforms but we don't get it until tomorrow.
Yeah, I forgot they made us wait an extra day. Then I saw the crossed out symbol in the download. Ran a Nephalem Rift in Diablo 3 as a consolation prize. 3 legendary items and a set plan. Way too much loot. Stash is full and 53 out of 60 character slots full. My friends really need to get an Xbox One, so I can offload some of this stuff...

Well I'm glad I'm not alone. It's so offputting to me that the gameplay doesn't entirely match the tone the game sets. Again, unpopular opinion, unfair expectations (maybe?), etc... but it just kills it for me.
Spec Ops: The Line is a perfect example of a game where the gameplay not only matches the tone, but builds a message within the story as well. Coincidentally, also on sale for $5 this week.

Just started playing FC3:BD trial, and since i haven't played it before there isn't nostalgia factor for me. And God, oh God!!! "Press A to show your ability to read" "Look around to look around" , does anyone know if that sense of humor is kept through the game ? If so, that is an insta-buy in my book.

Well, if you need some XB1 friends for Diablo 3, you can add me - StrangerStill79.

Most of the jokes are references to classic action movies, but not all. Some are references to other games. If you don't mind spoiling too much of the fun, you can look at a lot of the references here

For those that didn't watch a lot of action movies or simply forgot parts, reading through the references ahead of time might make the game more fun.

Oh man I had so much fun with Mafia II and Spec-Ops: The Line! Definitely grabbing these for nostalgia (and in case I ever want to play them again).

How is the MP population for Crysis 3 these days? I enjoyed the beta way back when, so if there are people still playing regularly, I'll probably pick it up.

I was playing around noon today and there was a time where it took me about 5 minutes to get into a "new recruits" game of TDM, but other than that I was able to get into matches without issue for the better part of a few hours. I think the population is pretty decent and would only imagine it would get better as the week goes on.

I picked up Crysis 3 and the season pass for Walking Dead Season 2. Some pretty good deals this week. I'm thinking about buying Fallout: New Vegas. Any opinions on the game?

Save often. I really like it and put hundreds of hours into it on PC, but man, on 360 it likes to freeze when going through doors before it gets a chance to auto save sometimes which can get annoying and break the immersion.

Edit: For reference, my Xbox 360 Fallout 3 has about 600 hours and a couple hundred saves. My 360 New Vegas has about 120 hours and a few hundred saves, and I still haven't beat the main storyline on my 360 version. I really like Fallout, so as far as if it's a "good game" I'm probably really biased, but if you played and enjoyed Fallout 3 I see no reason why you wouldn't enjoy New Vegas. I liked the environment of 3 much better, but I liked the quests/humor of New Vegas much better. I like the main storyline of each of them equally.
