It appears that the same guys that ported the X-Men Arcade game (Backbone Entertainment) are doing this re-release, so expect online & perhaps some enhanced graphics.

I'll keep an eye out for an official announcement.

I will celebrate a brand new XBL DotW thread by finally being able to change my title along with a recognizable avatar. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into the best thread on CAG, reddjoey.

From that list, only Sonic CD stands out to me. It will take some convincing from price plus CAG recommendations for me to look at the rest. I do welcome someone to introduce and surprise me with awesomeness of an unknown (to me) XBLA title.

The other title which had some interest from me is Fire Pro Wrestling. The use of avatars knocks it down a few pegs, just because it seems oddly different from previous FPW games usage of pixel art characters.

I am still waiting on other XBLA titles like Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, Dust: An Elysian Tail, and Zombies!!! Again, please introduce me to more XBLA games cus I don't have much else to look forward to aside from hoping Jet Set Radio gets some port announcement (I can always dream).

"Enhanced" I am guessing as in some logos on the letterboxing. I know Backbone did redo the art assets to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, which I felt was only so-so and the "option" to use the original pixel art for the characters was done in the usual wrong way Backbone handles emulation graphics. They sometimes allow the player to choose a non-interpreted smoothing like the 2xSai or SuperEagle filters, but they fail to disable hardware filtering of 2D images. That was my primary reason for passing up on old Sega titles on XBLA: Backbone handled the emulaton, and I do not believe in paying for poor/cheap emulation (feels like a cash grab rather than labor of love).

As for Simpsons, I too am cautious. I recognized X-men benefitted from the spectacle of side by side screens with 6 sets of joysticks/buttons; and I was wise (for me) to pass on it. Simpsons arcade was running mostly on franchise rexognition at the time, but there were genuinely amusing references within the game.

I want the game on XBLA, I would be ecstatic to get the game on XBLA, but I had hoped it would have been handled by someone else.
X-Men Arcade's poor online ruined it for me.

Also, I really appreciate what you do Reddjoey.
 
Yea that X-men port was pretty damn lazy, but hype and nostalgia got the best of me on day 1. If this is another bare bones port, I'm waiting for the inevitable sale this time. Something as simple as Final Fight's in game achievement/unlock system goes a long way for these old school quarter stealing beat em ups, otherwise there's not much incentive to play well when you have infinite continues. At least we'll finally have a proper console version after 20 some years though. I remember owning the PC port way back in the day and thinking it was hot shit even though it was a far cry from the arcade.

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but an asterisk for Deadliest Warrior and the Samurai Helmet avatar item may be helpful. If you're on the fence, the game is getting a retail release, along with its DLC and its sequel (DW: Legends), in early December for 30 bucks. As for the helmet, I believe it's unlockable via the game. 5 bucks isn't bad, but had I known before buying I'd have waited.

Limited to 1,000. I think with the 400 msp codes it was 5K, but I could be wrong about that. Expect it to go quickly.

Thanks for all the hard work reddjoey. Easily my most checked and most commented on thread on CAG. Just out of curiosity what makes you stick with it and what is your avatar? Obviously something from the Simpsons.
 
I just played around in the new 360 dash and premium themes are pretty useless now. Just a heads up for anyone who was thinking about buying one.

I do like the search and indie games seem to be a bit more visible. It definitely seems faster to use the marketplace in some ways. It took forever to load my games list but hopefully it just needed to index them the first time and it'll be faster when I turn on my console and try again.

useless? how? I would guess the old themes that was not a premium would be blocked by the metro design, but was hoping premium themes would still be worked in?

Friend backgrounds are no longer used. Areas of the images that would have been focal points in the old dash are now obscured.

Possibly, I didn't try. I also didn't check to see what themes come as part of the new dash. I'm sure in a couple of months we'll start to see themes that are built around the new interface a bit better. Too bad they don't let you try them out before buying.

Themes are basically the same as before.

Old themes still generate the grey orb o the bottom, and premiums do whatever color they designate.

However, when you go to your friends list, the backgrounds from the premium theme don't appear. That only appears when you bring up your profile, so you won't see them as much. The different backgrounds for system, etc still show up.

I do it because all the CAGs, (and lurkers I tell about CAG) love the thread.

As far as my avatar, it's an edited image from The Simpsons. In the episode Marge Get's a Job (Wikipedia/Snpp), Lisa says that Homer and Marge will be like Marie and Pierre Curie. Bart then imagines them as Godzilla like monsters. I think the joke is cut out in the syndicated episodes.

Paranormal has made me want more Pinball fx2 tables even worse than before but with the holiday sales so close I'd be stupid not to wait and see. If there still hasn't been a sale once Christmas is over I'm going against the CAG in me and just buying some of them.

Considering the track record for BF sales I'd say yes.
 
I lost my Gold last week. Have not really used my 360 (needs to get replaced anyway, then I can get a 360 that has a working disc drive and has wi-fi) since I moved though...I hope they're not any good sales until Black Friday so I can buy up good deals on Live subs. I remember adding a lot of XBLA titles in November...that was a very good few days of Live purchases.

Edit: just checked Major Nelson's post from last year and it seems I may not need Gold for Black Friday deals.

Yeah I already did.. I still feel dirty for paying full price, but they're very enjoyable. My excuse was I used bing points so they were free anyway. Hah.

Hopefully if they do put any tables on sale between now and Christmas they do ones I haven't bought or I'll feel even worse. :p

I'd say go for it and buy one or two of the "single" tables just to hold you over. The worthwhile price savings would be on the 4-packs if they do put them on sale.

The last 2 years no gold was needed. Last year everyone got all the sales from black Friday through new year. Three games last black Friday were only 80 MSP each - splosion man, turtles in time, and a tile based stategy game I can't think of.

Pretty sure Splosion Man, Turtles in Time, and Greed Corps were all 160 points, but yeah, good deals.

Checked, you are right. I guess my memory of last years deal was better than the actual deal. Still, if they put out games for 160 again I would be happy.
