Anyone think mafia 2 is good at $14 ive wanted to play that game but ive never bought a game on demand before...not sure if its worth it, or if i should go the used disc route
Go the disc route, Games on Demand are almost never worth it. I picked up Mafia 2 from Amazon a while back as they were trying to push the old copies of the game. For about $15 I ended up getting the Platinum Hits version with all the DLC. By goin games on demand you just get the bare bones copy & if you dont like it you're stuck with it, no trading or returning.
The only Games on Demand that are worth it are things no longer in print, like Beautiful Katamari. So yeah just buy a used disc, you dont like it you can get rid of it, plus its cheaper most times.
Maaaaan I hope the Mega Man games end up being part of the upcoming sales. I'm in need for some nostalgic 8-bit leaderboard ownage!
Got "Half-Minute Hero" yet? The addition of gamerpics this week, plus its release happening BEFORE the Summer of Arcade 2011, has me hopeful they're about to put it on sale in a high-profile way sometime between Thanksgiving thru New Year's.

It would be nice if he shared that info with the rest of us...

For all we know, he's looking at a list consisting of Hydrophobia, Risk: Factions, and Bad Company 2 DLC.

You just made me all tingly inside. I think I've got enough points ready to go. I've got 9k on my account and a few 4k and 1.6k cards in my desk in case there is some super incredible sale. I can't wait to see what they have in store for BF/CM. I'm crazy hoping for Trenched and Half Minute Hero. Any SoA games would be killer.

I'd probably bite on Beyond Good & Evil, Half Minute Hero, Renegade Ops or Bloodrayne Betrayal if they went on sale. Kind of doubting those last 2 will happen though since they're still kind of newish tho.

Ya, I'd say you've got plenty of points. I have 3700 and I'm pretty sure I'll be fine, at least until the New Years sale. I'm not getting my hopes up all that high. Would like to see BG&E (though I could barely play the demo because of lack of inversion), Bloodrayne, Iron Brigade, Crysis, Puzzle Quest, Baconing, and the new Toy Soldiers.

I bought Half Minute Hero at full price, it's one of the most awesome games I've ever played on XBLA.

this is not good...sounds like it'll be really good deal or really terrible repeats.

99.9% sure that super meat boy is one of those during black friday or cyber monday! (My gut feeling)

Oh yeah, I forgot about the SMB sale. So you're right, I would think

So Games on Demand cannot be purchased with points? I really would like to get Crysis but I am not paying cash for it. I have like 14,000 points and I cannot justify buying something on XBLA and not using them. :(

I remember reading that there is a way to do it. When you click on the game, press Y and it should say to pay with MS points.

Thanks. This is why I love this site...even idiots like me can get a good deal. :D

Just a warning.... Iron Brigade will almost certainly not be on sale. It isn't being released in Europe/updated in the US until November 30. Double Fine confirmed that it will cost 1200 and with the legal costs and also the cost of re-marketing of the game... I think we can safely assume this will not be on sale.

That game is easily worth 1200 anyway and they are adding a horde mode.

Also, check this CAG thread for info about some cheap XBLA games on Bestbuy.com. Meant to post it yesterday

I saw all the arcade games go on sale for black friday for a total of 5 minutes. You will have to rush in order to get your favorite or most wanted game dsicounted. Can you imagine if something like that were to happen?

Yes they can, I've done it before

Does anyone have Sid Meier's Pirates? Is it worth getting?

More to the point: Is it worth getting the Xbox version? It has no achievements - yes, we're spoiled now. And you can get a version of the game for slightly cheaper on PC or iPad. So, still worth it? :/

I played it on pc and thought it was fun. I actually went to buy it again until I realized it was an original. I already know I have a hard time playing those w/o cheevos.

Updated the price drops in the OP, but I don't have the correct dash to check. Can someone verify the info is correct and complete?
Also, check this CAG thread for info about some cheap XBLA games on Bestbuy.com. Meant to post it yesterday
Hmmm, Galaga Legions for $5. Tempting, especially after enjoying the DX version. Maybe I'll get it after seeing the BF & CM deals on XBLA.

DX is vastly superior to the first XBLA game. The original quickly becomes brutally difficult. It's best to avoid it regardless of how cheap it is.
DX is vastly superior to the first XBLA game. The original quickly becomes brutally difficult. It's best to avoid it regardless of how cheap it is.
While I have only played the demo for DX I have to wholeheartedly disagree with Thrinn. The original is vastly superior to the DX version. When they went back and made the game easier they went way too far and it felt like there was no challenge in it at all. Now this could be coming from having played the original Galaga Legions which was punishingly hard (but oh so fun) which resulted in me being way too good for the reduced difficulty in DX.

If I was a newbie or not very good at the game, then I would definitely recommend DX over the original. In short, if you don't want controller smashingly difficult gameplay then by all means get the DX version but if you want an insane challenge then get the original.

Personally, I plan on snagging DX when it does eventually go on sale because I love Galaga so much. I hope it didn't come across that I hated DX, it's just a little bit too easy I think.

I'm with Thrinn. The consensus is that Legions is way too hard to be much fun. A few people dig that annoying level of difficulty, but for normal folks there's Galaga Legions DX.

Crazy Larry will be back?!!?!! When I read that he'd be returning to announce the BF deals, I smiled. Crazy Larry breaks the monotony that permeates the dashboard.

Maybe BG&E and Rocket Knight might get discounted since I heard they're on sale over on PSN. Plus, those two game have never been discounted before. One can only hope they go on sale for XBL........

EDIT: The discounts are only for the EU psn store

I can't deny that the general consensus is that the original is far too difficult and DX is much more reasonable. I just found it a bit boring after the first one. It's too bad they weren't released in reverse order. Then maybe more people would have enjoyed the first one as a step up in difficulty rather than just being flat out too dang hard.

FWIW I've only gotten to the third world/stage myself. I claim no expertise in it by any means. I just enjoyed the challenge that whooped my butt. I saw it as being a fair and balanced challenge rather than being overwhelmingly difficult. Maybe they should have patched it to give you more lives or more health (probably both).

Have you tried watching that sunburned chick that goes crazy for the Windows Phone games? It's like Crazy Larry turned up to 9 and wearing a bleached wig.

Sorry, meant to include it is only in EU. Fixed that post so as not to confuse others.

LOL We Americans seem to always get better deals. We are so spoiled. They got a better deal than us for once. Seriously, good for them. They deserve some great/exclusive discounts

Anybody can beat the first 2 stages, they are easy.
It's levels 3 - 6 that are butt-raping super duper hard.

The fact that I paid $10 and can only play and see
a fraction of the game made me mad at the time.

Here is the developer's apology and pro-tip guide.

Can anyone chime in on Axel and pixel. After trying the demo it seems like fairly easy distraction to unwind the day with. I'm just not sure its worth the $5

I buy most games that are on sale, especially even @ 400 MSP ($5) but even for that price I feel like i'm getting jipped. The game feels lazy, dull and boring as if there weren't much effort and emphasis into it. I'd get it for about 200 MSP and it's been on sale at least once before (or more) but the demo sums it up so try that out for yourself.

I'm in the same boat. I buy most of the $5 games when they're on sale, but no way I would get Axel & Pixel. Demo is lame and adventure games are the lowest form of games IMO

I'm hoping Bastion is part of the BF sale. I currently have 4400 points with 400 more incoming from Bing Rewads on Monday. I'm wavering on Ms. 'Splosion Man since I bought 'Splosion Man for 400 points and it eventually went down to 160 MSP (I think).

I wish I had some points banked like most of you guys do... I tend to buy them as I need them. I've def missed out on some killer deals on points this past year tho.

I have 160 sitting in my account right now, and I plan to get a 1600 point card so I can get in on some of the Black Friday goodness.

I too am hoping for Bastion... but I want it for 600 or less, ideally 400.

I hope they have a few games 80% off like last year (that I don't already own).

Beyond Good and Evil, Resident Evil 4, and Street Fighter 3 are the ones I have my eyes on ;)... I love my HD remakes, lol.

50% off Deathsmiles 2X would be great! I can dream can't I?

That sucks. I heard about Double Fines legal issues with the game's name and I am saddened. Just as to counter your logic, I would make a case for the game being more likely to go on sale now. Since it's been out a while and sales are probably significantly less it might be a good idea to have a sale to boost their revenues and try to make up some of the legal fees they have accrued. If they are really strapped for cash 2 sales from myself and another CAG would be better than no sale at all from us.

Frankly, it makes sense (to me anyway) to do a sale now more than ever. Plus if they are changing the name it might be a good way to get the word out about the change.

I just finished Limbo last week and really enjoyed it alot. Thinking about picking up The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom, thought it looked kinda similar to Limbo.

What do you guys think? Is it worth the points?
