What can anyone tell me about Sonic 4 Ep 1, length, difficulty, quality etc.
I'm not a huge fan of platformers but I have been playing a lot of the Mega Drive collection on 360 recently, mainly Sonic 2, so I'm considering Sonic 4 for the first time. Unsure whether to bite.
I hope NBA Jam: OFE goes on sale for 50% off next week. I will definitely buy it.
IMO it was so much better than the game they released. I mean those that bought the game should get it for free.

Sonic 4 has 12 levels plus 7 bonus levels. Approximately equal in length to the first Sonic, though you have to play through at least twice to get all Achievements. Some people bag on the game for not having as good physics as past Sonic games, but it still feels pretty close in level design, etc. and is a lot of fun. If you enjoy the demo, definitely buy the game while it's cheap.
I hope the cod sale are 400 point map packs.
yeah ok and I wish that my pig would fly. 600 MSP is all you getting. Only one worth getting at this point is the 2nd and last map packs. As for sonic I never played adventure before, so is the DX dlc worth it or can I skip it?

Thanks for the quick response, have the demo waiting in my queue for when I get home :)
For the price I will probably get it but just wanted to make sure I wasn't walking into a horrible game.

It certainly isn't Sonic 4 despite how they've decided to title it. But it's decent fun-- preference of physics aside, it really does not make any sense for all forward inertia to cease instantly when you stop holding right, for a Sonic game or for ANY game. It really can destroy the game for you if you let it.

But otherwise, 320 points, 3.50 in real dollars? Not sure. But it's a pretty decent buy.

Unsure if I want to buy Sonic 1-3 or not. Always said I wouldn't due to having the Genesis collection, but for $2 each, it's hard to say no.

Damn, I just remembered I have all of the Xbox Live Sonic games already (except Sonic CD). Haha, this kind of hinders my plan to buy anything tomorrow.

100% agree with everything you said Friend of Sonic. I mostly got used to always holding the *right* button on the D-Pad or analog stick. I pretty much did this most of the time while playing the sonic during the sega genesis days. But every once in a while I'd be like "WTF!?" when Sonic stops abruptly in Sonic 4 Episode 1.
Unsure if I want to buy Sonic 1-3 or not. Always said I wouldn't due to having the Genesis collection, but for $2 each, it's hard to say no.
Depends on if you want achievements and/or if you want to play "Sonic 2 and Knuckles" / "Sonic 3 and Knuckles"

I'd possibly say no for one dollar for the simple fact it's not the Genesis.

I'm on a Sonic kick lately (helped along by my 3.5 year old sons newfound interest) and the only one I don't have is Adventure. I was hoping to see it for 400 points, so this is a treat.

Any self respecting old school fan should pick up at least sonic 1-3 and knuckles (and CD, though not on sale). Really, 160 points is the "oh just buy it price" for just about any game.

Decided to buy Sonic The Hedgehog 4:Episode 1 the price is just too good and the game isnt bad it pretty fun.Too bad i already own every other sonic game.So far in this sale i have only bought Street Fighter Third Strike, and Sonic 4 Ep1.Hopefully the undead nightmare for RDR goes to 400ms.
so yes or no on the sonic dx upgrade?
If you're an achievement whore, yes. 50 more points. The coolest thing from the DX port on the Gamecube is that you could unlock every Sonic Game Gear made, which is 12 games I think. But they took this out. So you're left with a mission mode that's mostly boring as shit and the ability to time attack stages as Metal Sonic, which is mildly cool.
If you are buying all Sonic games + DLC, comes out to 1280 Microsoft points. If you have PS+, it's $15 (1200 points) and you save 50 cents :). Probably affects a very small percentage of you, but wanted to give a heads up.
80 MSP is 1 dollar not 50 cents
I don't mean to be a dick jut wanting to fix if you didn't know that or if you already knew it and just made a simple error
if the gow season pass is half off I'm rebuying GOW 3
I believe its 33% off, saw it on the events thing when you selected it in the Gears main menu.

So...thats like $20 I think
But otherwise, 320 points, 3.50 in real dollars? Not sure. But it's a pretty decent buy.
4 dollars American
Please be BioWare or Dead Space DLC!
Please be Crysis 1 and NBA Jam: OFE!

Oh, and Risk Factions of course!

I hope so. That means I will have 1600 MS points left for CoD day.
Is Sonic 4 Episode 2 ever coming out?
It's tentatively scheduled to come out in 2012. No real details yet, but I'm pretty sure it will debut next year.
grabbed sonic 4 episode 1, debating sonic 3 and 1 (already have 2 and knuckles).
I'd at least get Sonic 3 since it connects with Sonic & Knuckles and opens up new content.

I don't necessarily remember why I only grabbed 2 and knuckles (I know I grabbed them last time they were on sale anyways) gonna grab 3 now, thanks. might wait on sonic 1 for now.

It works like it did on the Genesis?! If so, I'm going from "not gonna buy" to "I'M BUYING ALL SONICS RIGHT NOW"
It works like it did on the Genesis?! If so, I'm going from "not gonna buy" to "I'M BUYING ALL SONICS RIGHT NOW"
Yep! The XBLA versions interact with each other, while the on-disc versions included with Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection do not.
It works like it did on the Genesis?! If so, I'm going from "not gonna buy" to "I'M BUYING ALL SONICS RIGHT NOW"
Same here, well at least for Sonic 3. Of course I already have the Ultimate Genesis Collection on PS3 and Sonic 1 and 2 free from PS+ but that gives me a great excuse for getting Sonic 3 on 360 now. For $2 I can't pass up an opportunity to have Sonic on my hard drive.
Yep! The XBLA versions interact with each other, while the on-disc versions included with Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection do not.
I shall buy!
I only went with Sonic 4. I tried the trial for Sonic Adventure and it was just a mess from start to finish.
And Sonic 4 isn't?

How is Sonic Adventure a mess? It's one of my favorite games of all-time, still to this day. I may have my nostalgia goggles on, but even when I played it recently, I still loved it.

I already have the Ultimate Genesis Collection..., so lemme get this straight...

I'd also need to pick up Sonic & Knuckles XBLA (240 MSP) which isn't on sale in order to get it to connect to Sonic 1-3? That's kinda lame. ...and no Sonic CD, I mean, it's only 400 MSP, but still.

Definitely getting the DX upgrade though, I didn't know it wasn't on the Dreamcast disc already...it is confirmed to work though right? Thanks for the info!

I'm not sure why the DX upgrade wouldn't work on the disc version, but I was thinking about picking it up anyway, so I'll buy it later and report back. But for now, I'm going to bed

I don't care what anyone says, I got Sonic 4. I already have everything else because I own the Sonic games for GC. Sexy retro goodness shall be had.

The XBLA version of Sonic 3 & Knuckles would be so much better if you could revisit stages after beating the game, but no....

Stupid Backbone.

Man, that's why i don't want to support these cheap ports. Prices are low, but supporting them means we like more ports like these - so they will make a lot more.

You know which is the only Sonic XBLA game that i have bought so far? it's Sonic CD, because is not Backbone shit. Christian Whitehead/Blit Software have put some love on it. Was a steal at 400MSP.

That's why I still own the sonic mega collection plus for xbox1. Games were left intact. Yea sure you don't get this upscalled/toothpaste covered graphics and cheevos of the xbla versions, but at least you can still save like normal and use cheat codes when you wish. The graphic resolution feels closer to the old SD tvs the game was meant to be played on.

WOOOOOO! Bought everything that was on sale today! I love me some Sonic, and Sonic Generations was short, but so great, it got me back in the Sonic groove! Hope you all buy to your heart's content to show your love for Sonic!
Hope you all buy to your heart's content to show your love for Sonic!
Or just plug in the Genesis

i think 160 is the sweet spot for the old ones to justify getting them, but now i have decided to get those & i already have knuckles, i feel i need the rest for the whole experience... BUT

i only have 1810 points left and getting everything will leave me with 530 points and with the cod black ops dlc likely to be 600 FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Any one in particular i should skip? can we expect any of them cheaper? i don't think so as 4 has just had a drop AND the sales are 60% off

I am not including CD in the calculations as i will get that when it is in a dotw

I think Sonic 1 is the most skippable because not only is it included in the Ultimate Genesis Collection, it's also an unlockable extra in Sonic Generations.

I Just bought the DX upgrade and have Sonic on DreamCast Disic it works.. once you load Sonic it will be DX

One thing about Sonic fans is that they are loyal. You stuck through a lot over the years, kept the faith and never let up on Sega in reminding them what made Sonic great in the first place. Sonic 4, Colors and Generation are a clear sign he is back on track. Nice job guys.

I still don't think Sonic and 3D mix, but I'll take a hybrid.
