Almost certainly in for Sonic 4 Episode 1, been waiting for a sub-400 point price for some time. Probably grab the DX Upgrade while I'm at it, assuming people are correct in stating it works with the Dreamcast Collection disc.

after buying 1,2,3,4 i think i will pass on adventure and possibly get the disk version at a later date and then consider the dlc, sonic goes on sale so much its bound to again

Just bought the Sonic Adventure DX upgrade since I already have SA on the Dreamcast Collection disc and its a good price, for only 160 MSP.

Just gotta get round to properly playing the game now!
I believe its 33% off, saw it on the events thing when you selected it in the Gears main menu.

So...thats like $20 I think
I think you might be mistaken. I booted up my Gears 3 disc and looked for the one day discount on the season pass under the even calendar. Didn't see it, but I did see an event for September 20 which states "Season Pass is Live. Download and save 33% on DLC."

Unless you're seeing something I'm not, there is no mention of the 1 day drop in price for the Gears 3 Season Pass

No that means that if you buy the season pass you save 33% compared to buying every dlc individually, but that's a lie cause every dlc was suppose to be 800 MSP, but Raam's is 1200 so that right there is half the price of the season pass. Mostly likely its going to be 1800 MSP which is fine by me. 2 campaign dlcs, 5 weapon skins, extra characters, more horde and multiplayer maps, and achievements sing me up asap. Man played sonic 4 just now and wow, nothing like the old classic one's. Sonic feels clunky and slow, but im a huge sonic fan so now I have every xbla sonic game.

Have the Sonic Unleashed level add-on packs always been 250 points?

At any rate, I'm tempted by 2 and 3, but I have the Collection and Sonic/Knuckles isn't that beloved of a game for me, especially since its not on sale...

Oh well. Money saved!
i think 160 is the sweet spot for the old ones to justify getting them, but now i have decided to get those & i already have knuckles, i feel i need the rest for the whole experience... BUT

i only have 1810 points left and getting everything will leave me with 530 points and with the cod black ops dlc likely to be 600 FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Any one in particular i should skip? can we expect any of them cheaper? i don't think so as 4 has just had a drop AND the sales are 60% off

I am not including CD in the calculations as i will get that when it is in a dotw
I feel like they've all been on sale for around these prices a few times before... if not, I know for a fact they've been these prices at least once, because I bought a few of them prior to this sale and definitely didn't pay full price.

so with that knowledge, odds are they'll go on sale again at some point. who knows if it'll be the same percent off each one but i think the odds are good that they'll all be on sale for at least 50 percent off again eventually.

probably just grab sonic 4 e1 and maybe choose another one
Sonic 4 Episode 2 is tentatively scheduled to come out in 2012. No real details yet, but I'm pretty sure it will debut next year.

I'd at least get Sonic 3 since it connects with Sonic & Knuckles and opens up new content.
So it's only Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles that interacts with each other, meaning any of the other Sonic games don't?

What exactly happens between these interactions? I.e. Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles.
nevermind, now it makes sense... I grabbed sonic 3 with sonic & knuckles the last time they were on sale, not sonic 2. so the only ones I dont have are sonic 1 and 2, which out of those two should I grab? only have 200 points left

Not interested in the old (Genesis) Sonic games. Probably in for Sonic 4 and the DX dlc. Will do some soul searching and decide after playing the demo.

This is the lowest the Sonic games have ever been. You can use my site to find the previous sales.

yeah I think they were 200msp last time, so a little less. didnt realize that at first, odds are they'll be on sale for 50 percent off again though, probably not 60

Thoughts on Sonic Adventure for someone who's never played it? I read the IGN review and it's brutal. I'd previously thought that was a game I'd want to play someday, but that review has really scared me off.

The 1200 for Raam's Shadow was always going to be 1200MSP. Season pass normally costs 2400MSP which is $30. The 4 DLC packs that are supposed to be covered by the season pass are 800, 1200, 800 and 800MSP which is $45. $45 - 33% (~$15) = $30.

I wanted to like Sonic 4, especially for $4, but I just couldn't bring myself to get it because of the clunky-ness you speak of.
I think Sonic 1 is the most skippable because not only is it included in the Ultimate Genesis Collection, it's also an unlockable extra in Sonic Generations.
Well, unless you care about getting the achievements for the game.

Sonic 3 and S&K are both 1/2 each of a full game.

S3&K doesn't get you achievements, but it's my favorite game of all time and definitely worth it.

Also, Sonic 2 with Sonic & Knuckles lets you play as Knuckles through the Sonic 2 story mode.

Sonic 1 and S&K gives you Blue Sphere which is basically just a ton of special stages from S3/S&K for you to play to your heart's content.

Wow, I just went from "Not Buying Any of These" to "I'M BUYING THE WHOLE THING" just like that

For someone who has never played the Genisis Sonics, for $2 I'll splurge. Which one of the three titles at $2 is the best? 2 has the best score on metacritic but they all are pretty close.

2 and 3&K are thought to be the best. I prefer 3&K, but 2 is awesome as well.

So I just updated my 360 and went to buy Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, and I thought, I'll just log in and look for the current sales section. It either doesn't exist, or it's buried so far up Microsoft's ass as to be impossible to find.

What the fuck is wrong with Microsoft? How the fuck do they come up with these horrible interfaces? How the fuck, after all these years, do they NOT know how to do a sale? The only reason I know they are running a sale is because of CAG. That's absolutely absurd. What a bunch of morons.

So I went through and searched for the game and found it and bough it. I probably would have bought more content if they had an "on Sale!" section. But no, that's too fucking difficult for the monkeys running xbox live. This new interface is terrible. They copied the XMB, and then decided to make it worse. Hey let's have a side to side scroll menu like PS3, and then let's not let you just easily go side to side with it if you push down in the menu first. Typical Microsoft. Sorry for the rant, but I just can't believe how these people continually get the interface and buying experience SO fucking wrong.

On my dashboard, the sale was prominently displayed on the Games tab, but has now been replaced with a best of 2011 button. You must highlight the button and navigate to the sale button with the right analog stick.

@charlescheese

What are you talking about? When I turn my 360 on, the large middle box is a GIANT purple ad that says SALE in Giant letters. I'm not sure how that is "buried".

Man I really hope for either an NBA Jam sale or a sale on Crysis next week.

And for the poster who said they didn't like the new interface....I gotta disagree. The sales are displayed on the first page as soon as I log on. I really like the new interface.
Is there any word about the EA sale?
If there was, you'd see it in the last page or so. Or you can check the OP since RJ is awesome. If it's not in either of those two......well, I hope you can do the math. This thread is the best source for up to date deals on the 360. If u don't see it here, it doesn't exist

Yeah, it is not buried for me. It is the huge box in the middle of the games tab. As of today it does share the big tab with one other sale item. Not hard to find at all.

Back on topic I was not going to buy any sonic stuff but Episode 1 is the cheapest it has been, Bought, and Adventures bought only because I purchased the DX add on (my daughter clicked on purchase) so I HAD to buy it. :)

Not related to XBL sales (sorry!) but DAMN it took me forever to figure out how to change themes in the new dash. They could stand to have that option accessible in one or two more places.
Is there any word about the EA sale?
Besides this holiday sale, we rarely get info about what special sales will feature until they go live.

Unless, of course, the Germans can work their voodoo magic again.

Most people like Sonic 2 better than 1. I mean, both are fantastic but 2 has the great bonus stages, spin dash, even better music, multiplayer...

It's got some problems and they definitely should have upgraded it to widescreen. But it's still near and dear to many people's hearts thanks to the scale, the art design, the Chao garden, etc. I've been playing it recently and still enjoy it, though obviously it's much rougher than 2D Sonics. So it really comes down to how open minded you are and whether you'd like to learn about that part of Sonic's history.

Does anyone else have trouble with buying a game, downloading it and then it just registering as a trial? Deadliest warrior legends is doing that to me and Im connected. trying to redownload and see if it fixes the problem but a few other games are that way when im off line (galaga legions is one)

Sounds like those games are linked to your GT but not your console.

yup. Exactly what I was going to say. That's why when you're not connected to XBL they are trials.

You need to transfer your licenses to the current console. Take a look at this, it might help. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Support/LicenseMigration/FAQ

My cousins friend whose brother works downtown knows a hobo who in turn knows a janitor who also knows this stripper who also knows this dude and he said that Shank would be on the EA Sale.

I've been checking online but I'll probably get a faster response here....

I have the sonic collection disc and the special bonuses for sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles don't work on that but do they work if you have the xbla versions.

Is there a reason for me to buy the xbla versions? Online mp? Sonic3/kn addon?

We just discussed that on the page before you posted. Come on, read a bit! Anyway, yes, the XBLA version of Sonic & Knuckles connects with the other games. Sonic 2 has online versus multiplayer, but I'm not sure about Sonic 3. Also, the XBLA games obviously have their own Achievements.
