I still think delisting gun props is stupid. If they don't want kids getting them, they should make that option for child accounts. I mean come on, the big xbox titles (Halo, Call of Duty, Gears of War) all revolve around guns.

yeah, I have sour grapes too about the season pass being on sale but still even paying full price on the season pass, it's still a 33% sale overall. plus, I got some great times (and counting for the season pass).

plus, if you were leveling up on horde mode and got the season pass, you were well on the way of maxing out rather than people who just got it. it takes a ton of gaming to level up the horde pack additions.

now, I want the hammerburst to be on sale! the lancer is cool but he doesn't aim the gun. just revs up the chainsaw...
I'm still not sure that's a good barometer, as I doubt the average Gears 3 gamer goes to Epic's forums. Hell, I'd bet the average gamer doesn't even know Epic Games is the developer. In short, I think the average gamer is dumb and uninformed.

There are also people on there who are angry because the weapon skins pack dropped from 3600 points to 1800 points. That's a much bigger price drop (1800 vs. 600 for the Season Pass) and is more of a "luxury" item. Anyone who essentially wasted 1800 on a "luxury" item would understandably be upset.
Yeah I relent. Most likely this only upset a handful of people.
Was thinking about picking up the season pass but its too much the most I would pay is 1000 points.
good luck getting each dlc at 250 points. lolz
Hoping Call of Duty Classic goes on sale tomorrow, I kind of want to play through that one.
Same here, i hope its 400 ms points.

Have they said what the four DLC packs for Gears 3 will be? Obviously two are out, one is single player, and I think the third one is expected to be multi as the first one was. Would it be safe to assume the fourth one is likely multi as well? I'm on the edge for the season pass, only because I got too many points at a discount anyway, so it might be a good deal if I plan to keep Gears 3.

I am trying to find which avatar gun props I should be looking at before delisting on the Avatar Marketplace. I thought there was one with a dove flying out then your avatar jumps to a side while dual wielding pistols in slo-mo, because I thought there was a Stranglehold section. While I know dual wielding pistols is mostly impractical, it just looks cool on film and games, maybe even on my avatar.

The lancer prop I may have to avoid, since it appears to be taken out of the avatar's butt opposed to summoned by a fingersnap ... which seems more inappropriate to me than seeing the gun. =P

I think the GOW ones are the only (semi-)realistic guns on there. But if they are getting rid of anything "gun-like", then there's a raygun-type brush launcher from Rayving Rabbids and there's also the shooting gallery prop - granted, the avatar is only using his fingers to shoot things, but it implies having guns.

Honestly, this kind of stuff annoys the hell out of me. It's like when they pulled the confederate and British red coat uniforms from the marketplace after a couple days because someone claimed they got "offended".
Which makes me think of Stephen Fry's quote on the subject...
can you explain this?
Explain what? The first map pack was 800 points, but just to play it in private matches and in Horde mode.

They then released the same maps, for free, to everyone.

I wouldnt want to jump on the season pass and find out the same thing happens to the new Fenix pack coming next month
Hm...my fear is the Fenix DLC maps will go free like the Horde Command maps did...
I seconded you explaining how this is bad. Ok so what if they do, are you going to get the weapon skins, 2 extra characters, and horde upgrades? Answer= No. And if they do they might bring some extra maps from gears 1 or 2 along with the 3 from the dlc.

It was 800 points, but usable in public matchmaking as well as horde and private, basically fully usable like normal maps. Those who did not pay get to use the maps in public matchmaking versus, but not horde or private matches, meaning the usage is a little gimped for free users, although if you only want them for public versus then you are unaffected. If you want to play horde or set up a private match then you have to pay. On one hand it's good for those who pay because they don't stop "being able to find anyone playing on the new maps" like homefront, Uncharted 2, killzone 2, etc. On the other hand it means they got less content for what they thought they were getting when they paid.

Also, you can't get any of the extra achievements with the free version.

I'm split. I want the campaign missions, so I'm pretty much just paying 500 points more than usual. I'm an achievement whore as well, so I might just bite on it I guess.
Alright, people are pissed.
Holy shit you aint kidding.

The only skins i ever bought for any game was Super Street Fighter IV, i own all the outfits on the game. Bought the complete pack for Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV, and then bought the special 3rd packs indiviually.

Don't regret it one bit though! I think just about all the outfits are awesome on the characters. :) and im proud to be able to use all of them.

I was able to get the 3 season passes i wanted (Gears 3, LA Noire, and MK) plus Fallout New Vegas DLC discounted, im happy as hell!

But seriously though... why the hell would you waste 40 dollars let alone 20 on having all the weapon skins for your guns? makes no damn sense to me. and is that even for ALL the guns or just one of the guns!?
I'm split. I want the campaign missions, so I'm pretty much just paying 500 points more than usual. I'm an achievement whore as well, so I might just bite on it I guess.
This is me exactly. I dabble in Gears 3 multi, but I really like the campaign. We can get Raam's shadow for $10 from gamestop, I believe. Thing is..I have plenty of MS points and don't want to spend real-life money on game stuff right now because of my immense backlog.

Is there any word or confirmation that the 4th dlc in the pass will be campaign?

Don't be pissed that you paid too much for this DLC. Be pissed that you paid for it at all.

Sure, developers might be given time constraints on a project and are required to release unfinished ideas later, but a rushed project isn't necessarily something you should buy anyway (buy the GOTY, for example). Couldn't it also be that developers are intentionally releasing unfinished products just so they can charge you $15 for more maps, or five gun skins that realistically could have been included in the game anyway? I've seen game discs vary in size from 3GB to 12GB, not including Blus; think of all the data that could have been added and wasn't. Buying DLC just gives game devs more freedom to throw out whatever they deem good enough so they can get more of your money in the long run. How much do you spend on GOW3? $60 for the game, then another $60 in DLC, or even more?

Whenever I call shenanigans on DLC, I like to cite Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Dark Lord on WiiWare as the perfect culprit. It's a game you have to buy for $10 or something like that, but you can't really even play it without spending $2 for a character, then another $2 for each set of monsters. Once you're done buying the Flans, Tonberries, Cactuars, Ahrimans, Ogres, and countless other monsters, you can then play the game. Or you can buy even more characters, dresses, or special hats. There's a total of $57 of extras to add onto this game download that isn't even that fun to begin with. And since it's a download, all of that stuff could have been added in for free. It wasn't because the company wanted more money. Oh, and you know what? Crimson Alliance is free, too, but you have to pay $10 to unlock each character to play past the first stage.

If you're upset, just don't buy DLC. What was originally a good idea has been turned into a ploy to increase profits.
I'd only play public matches so I don't care about the other stuff.
me too, but it seems you can't use the "free maps" on horde mode, only versus, so there is one drawback there.

The Original Post states that the GOW3 Season Pass lasts until February 2012 with the final pack released in Feb. HOWEVER, if you read the description of the season pass it says:

The Season Pass serves as your pre-order (at a 33% discount!) of four downloadable content packages that you will receive every Quarter, starting in November.

I'm pretty sure there will be more dlc on the table after the last one for season pass. You know, there is a reason why they spam like crazy these packs.
Since there's going to be an EA sale next week, I wonder if Mass Effect 2 counts :D
It counts and i need to get some of these dlc's as well. Crysis 1 probably will be on sale as well. :)

Off question but how much of a discount did people who preordered get? Is this the cheapest the season pass has been? I'm probably going to end up getting it in the morning.

I was really hoping to have the individual DLCs was on sale as I was really only interested on RAAM DLC.. but since I got some cheap points stacked I'll just get the season pass.. hopefully the Feb DLC is Single Player.
hopefully the Feb DLC is Single Player.
It's a pack for Beast Mode. Already was confirmed we will get one dlc for each mode - campaign, mp, horde, beast. ;)

If I buy the season pass, as opposed to downloading whatever free packs, does that mean the maps will show up in public Horde mode games? If so, I'm in. But if I'd have to play private matches altogether to see these maps, then they'll never show up for me at all and it's practically worthless.
It's a pack for Beast Mode. Already was confirmed we will get one dlc for each mode - campaign, mp, horde, beast. ;)
ah not bad, I enjoy Beast and Horde modes than MP anyway :)

They will show up on public horde, beast and mp games.

Going from Battlefield 3 MP to GOW3 MP feels like a huge downgrade to me. Can't decide on the season pass but I won't be touching the MP content at all I think.

Just bought the Golden Lancer avatar prop. I was going to get one of the Gears guns anyway since they are delisting 'em soon but didn't know which one to get, but for half-price my mind was made up for me. :)
I'm pretty sure there will be more dlc on the table after the last one for season pass. You know, there is a reason why they spam like crazy these packs.
uhh no because if you actually Read it the Season Pass entitles you to Four dlc packs. In february you will get the Fourth pack for free if you have the season pass. After that you must Pay for all DLC. From Feb 2012 to Dec 2012 you have to pay for all other DLC packs. you are Only entitled to Four dlc packs. ill laugh when you complain and cry that the DLC released after Feb wont be Free for you. your season is 4 DLC packs long. after that you will pay what non-pass holders pay. period. no if ands or buts.
Ok guys, the soapboxing in this thread is getting old
But, but I am surprised we have not gotten our free ugly avatar apocalypse glasses. I guess, after 2 years of ugly free glasses, I'm conditioned to expect a continuing pattern. Ah well, I like the Xbox celebration giftbox a lot more, and we got our premium theme for the holidays.

Always good work reddjoey, I am sure your work is quite appreciated by many, from random lurkers and soapboxers like I. Also, I am old. Fits the pattern.

If I buy today's season pass later today, it will mean I will commit to buying Gears 3. If I do, I hope to meet and play along with others here. EDIT: Uh-oh, I think I did misread the "one DLC a quarter" guess that means the 4 DLC packs are for all 4 quarters, so one DLC pack is supposed to satiate me for 3 months. Given more DLC could be released past the scope of the pass, now I am considering waiting on a potential Platinum Hits or GotY edition with some/all of the DLC. See, your CAG discussions and perspecives on the sales offerings do assist in helping me make informed decisions.
