Your collection - post a photo - show us what'cha got!

Here's what it looks like as of last night. I've got another bookshelf EXACTLY like the one I have now coming, so the stack of PS2 and PSP games will be shelved in the next update.

I really hate to double post, but my new shelf came earlier than expected. :D

Now, I'm no Wiggy, but I'm getting there. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Ok some I'm thinking about getting some new furniture. Perhaps use the taller silver shelf for just my games and get something new for my old school TV and systems. I may just put all those boxes in the closet, but we'll see. What I don't like about this is that it feels messy, and the old school TV is pretty high up from where I usually sit.

My parents were willing to buy something from Ikea for me as a Christmas present, so that's an option. I'm also thinking Target as I have a gift card there, plus it's local. I live a hour and a half from the Chicago IKEA store( I'm sure I would do other things in Chicago as well if I do go there ).

You guys have any recommendations on what I should get?

Really hard to recommend, because it doesn't look like you have a lot of room to work with.

The only thing that comes to mind are the expedits on its side. It should be able to replace your two media towers, and be lower. But of course, it'll be wider.

For the amount of space you have, I'd just get a taller rotating tower for your games. But they're expensive. I wouldn't recommend the media bennos from Ikea, which I used to have, because they're like 10" wide, and a pain to pull stuff out of.

Looks solid to me :D

How do you guys organize your loose cables? Seems like whenever I have to find a cord to hook something up I have to destroy my room.
Sorta. I have a bin with a whole mess of them in there and they've all been neatly wrapped using velcro straps. Makes it pretty easy to find what I need, even without them being super organized. When the cords are a little ball the size of your fist, then it makes it pretty easy to pick through them and find what you want just by identifying the connectors at the end ;)

You don't wanna use twist ties with wires/electronics, at least not the ones with the metal filament. They could easily puncture wires and/or get caught in wall plug or something. It's very unlikely, but still, no point in taking risks.

I use the much thicker ones like you'd find already holding wires together when you buy a new electronic device. (AV cables, power cables, etc.) Those tend to have a much thicker rubber coating. And as for the wall plug, I would hope that there would be enough sense there to avoid metal-to-electricity contact. I always keep it at LEAST 6 inches away from the plugs on either end. I usually tie similar cables together. (i.e. the 2 HDMI cables going from my 360 and PS3 to my TV.) That keeps the tangling down. I like the twist ties because they're easy to remove and they're also easily adjustable. Of course, the same could be said for velcro strips, I suppose...

I've used twisties and zipties for years...and I can say velcro strips are much better for things like controllers, power cords, etc. -things that get use or may need to be tested.

If we are talking behind the TV, I'm not sure if it really matters.

I'm guessing he meant cable routing with a dozen devices, not for storage.

Velcro cable ties help (even for storage): http://www.amazon.com/VELCRO-Brand-ONE-WRAP-Self-Gripping-Reusable/dp/B001E1Y5O6/
thanks for this. I got so many cables, controllers especially with my retro systems and more that i went ahead and ordered this.

Does anyone know if this is the cheapest probably for these for this many? it seems so after comparing all the other stores including hardware stores who seems to want a similar price but for only a 25 ties container.

Figured I'd come and share my mess/collection with you all again. Get ready for a picture onslaught, theres a lot of them as I was a bit bored. On that note some of the pictures are not the greatest, just using my iPhone so thats all I can do.

Let's start.

Here's my main setup.

2I9GTzE.jpg

It consists of:

46" Samsung 120hz 3DTV

Harman Kardon AV1710 7.1 Surround Sound w/ Boston Acoustics Speakers from the 90's in a 5.1 setup and 2 Polks I picked up cheap for the rears.

PS4

Xbox One

Sony BDP-S5100 Blu-Ray Player

Gamecube - Not Hooked Up.

On to the games themselves.

That includes pretty much everything I own gaming wise. I've prolly got a few things floating around though. I'm sure you all wanna see some close-ups so here you go.

I've really been focusing on the SNES recently and have been trying to tackle some big games. Between Megaman X2 from a thrift for $3.99 I got inspired to get some others. Recent additions include King of Dragons, Final Fight 3, Megaman X3 and Castlevania Dracula X. Some big money but so worth it.

I am also a bit of a Blu-Ray buff. Can't help myself but have been buying way too many to be honest. Just this Black Friday I probably added some 30 more. This is all of them outside of a few I have out on loan to my sister.

And of course some close-ups.

Finally figure I better show off some of my other gaming spots. I recently this summer had the desire to build a Gaming PC so I went through and did it. Pardon my mess, didn't feel like cleaning.

Here's some specs.

Intel Core i5 4690k @ 4.2ghz

Gigabyte GA.G1 Z97 Sniper Motherboard

16gb DDR3 Gskill Trident X 2400mhz

Asus AMD Radeon R9 280x

120gb SSD for the OS and a few apps

2TB HD for everything else

Finally the cream of the crop and my favorite my retro corner. This was the result of me getting into Neogaf's CRT thread and realizing just what I was missing out on.

This is a Olympus OEV203 CRT Monitor basically a rebranded Sony PVM. All of the consoles are hooked up either via RGB for everything pictured up to N64 and the Wii and PS2 are connected via component. It puts out an absolutely beautiful picture and I could never go back to using an HDTV for older consoles.

Here some obligatory CRT porn with Vampire Savior on my Saturn.

Sorry about the picture overload but it's been a while since I last posted in here and I wanted to give a full update on my collection. Hope you all enjoy.

Always like seeing collections that are balanced with old/new games, rather than a 1000 modern games.

I would love to post some pics of the games' stuff I have, but I don't have shelves :( . I have most of my stuff inside drawers, boxes, cabinets and in the closet too lol.

Had to purge my strategy guide collection. Pretty much took out whatever wasn't an RPG and not a collected series (eg. Resident Evil)

Needed room for my Black Friday/Cyber week/etc graphic novel spoils....

Very nice. Those are some huge stacks of CEs.:D

I just got into the current gen with my PS4 (but, honestly haven't even played it yet) but it's crazy to see so many CE's out already. I seriously can't see myself continuing to collect anymore due to money constraints and lack of interest.

@dodgme, great collection but I wouldn't recommend stacking the xbox on top of the cable receiver, too much heat may burn the xbox out.
