If we reach $10,000 before the November 15th donation cut off, this will also be raffled off by bluedotloune!

Get ready folks. The winners of my raffle will be announced Monday and Tuesday. If you don't hear from me by Wednesday, sorry, but thank you again for your participation. If it weren't for you, Extra Life would not have surpassed the $450,000 mark.

If in the unlikely event we reach $10,000 before the 2010 deadline (Nov. 15), I'll include the Fist of the Northstar clock and some other unlisted items as thanks.

I too will announce the winner for the $25 Amazon gift card around this time.

Please send me a private message on CAG and tell me your name and how much you donated (to prevent anyone trying to steal your winnings!) and I will email you back the code :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

~ Prizes ~

That's right. Thanks to the generosity of other CAGS, we now have prizes!

Basic Rules : To enter, please donate directly to the CAG who has the prizes that you are interested in. Because the donor page does not list CAG names (only real names), we ask that you post in the thread your name, how much you donated, and to whom you donated (or if you posted in bluedotlounge's contest thread post, here, that's ok too. Just as long as the prize donor knows). This makes it easy for the prize donor to have a comprehensive list of donors to match with a CAG. There are two kinds of giveaways.

(1) Raffles
(2) Donate a certain amount, receive prize.

Beside each person's name will be the specific rules for that raffle/giveaway.

Let's look at what is behind door number one...

RAFFLES

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---- bluedotlounge - Donate by clicking HERE ----

RULES:
Here is how it will go. For EACH DOLLAR you spend you get ONE ENTRY into my raffle (this goes for both donors donating to his page or players raising).

Example :
Donate $2 to bluedotlounge's page, earn 2 entries.
Raise $2 on your own page, earn 2 entries. (
Those raffle entries will apply to you as the donor, not the people who donated to you.)

You will also earn a BONUS if you donate more.
$5 will get you 6 entries
$10 will get you 12 entries
$20 will get you 25 entries
$50 will get you 75 entries

I estimate to have about 75 items to give away so if you spend $50, you could theoretically win all of these! After the end of the marathon, the raffle will be held through random.org, which will keep everything legitimate and transparent.

GOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, VIET...I MEAN CHEAP ASS GAMER!

As many of you know, 10/16 was a very, very special day.

That's right. It was Sweetest Day, your favorite hallmark holiday! Did you tell your significant other how awesome they were?

That's not why you are here though, is it? No. You want to know how much money was raised, don't you?

So how much money did the star studded CAG team raise? Last year, cheapassgamer.com raised over $5,000. This year, as of 10/17, we have raised...

$9,222

(In before "OVER 9000!!!!" joke)

Outstanding. Exceptional. Amazingly Awesome. Look at that total! Not only did you almost DOUBLE last year's total, but you have proven, once again, that cheapassgamer is one of the most generous gaming communities on the web. In a world where gaming is often looked upon as an immature hobby fully of 13 year old racists, you have proven that the activity is evolving into a hobby that can be used to make the world a little less sucky.

Pat yourself on the back. That is an order.

So how about everyone else? Did this trend prove consistent across other gaming communities? In 2008, $120,000 was raised. In 2009, $170,000 was raised. In 2010, as of 10/17, the world raised...

$423,877

Holy sh*t.
Good job EVERYONE! That is an amazing total that deserves to be recognized.

So how did the night go? Personally, I had a hell of a time. Aside from a few problems caused by the new Xbox dashboard beta, the night was full of new friendships, hilarious glitches, and a 4-person Halo Reach CAG team that could not be taken down...in team deathmatch (CTF was a different story). The chat room was also a great time!

I appreciate all the "Thank you for putting the team together and running the thread" messages. But without you, I am just a man running a little thread. YOU are what held this team together and made it what it is. You deserve just as much praise as anyone else. EVERYONE INVOLVED - GOOD JOB!

About the prizes -
Please, feel free to continue donating. What really matters is helping these children out. They are still accepting donations, and they will be for a while (November 15th!).
But because we want to get these prizes out at a decent time (and before the zombie takeover),

WE WILL NO LONGER BE ACCEPTING PRIZE ENTRIES ON MOST PRIZE GIVEAWAYS (unless clearly stated). HOWEVER, BLUEDOTLOUNGE'S RAFFLE IS STILL GOING ON!

Raffles will be completed and prizes will be handed out ASAP! Keep an eye on this thread for updates!

And once again...

THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Yeah sorry I haven't been as aggressive as I should be (I've had quite a few medical tests in the past 2 weeks). I'll throw up a blog post for those who don't visit this forum.

Who knows. I might even ask for a front page spot once we get nearer.

No problem, just make sure you guys bring your 'A' game.

Hopefully the donations should have also primed the pump :)

Nope. It's completely based on an honor system.

And truthfully put, if you don't do the 24 hours straight, no one is going to hound you on not finishing. The rules technically state that you can break up the marathon if you have to, and odds are, if you visit this site, 24 hours of gaming comes naturally.

------- One more thing. I'm not 100% sure on the CAG name of the person who donated to my account, but judging by the name, it was you dwhelan. A BIG thank you to you.:bouncy:

I'm halfway to my $200 goal. Woo! Does anyone have plans for what to play, yet? I'm thinking I'll probably rent and play through Mafia II, but other than that, I'm unsure. I might use this as an excuse to buy Red Steel II and a MotionPlus, and play that.

Are there friend codes for Nintendo DS or Pokemon Heartgold/SoulSilver? Either way, I have that and I will be building up my Pokemens for the battles.

Awesome!

There are quite a few games that are coming out between now and then. I might do some Halo Reach multiplayer, and Dead Rising 2, Enslaved, The Shoot, and Castlevania will all be released by then. The week before is also the week the the new Medal of Honor comes out. Who knows what I'll be playing.

I would, but sadly, I sold it after my nostalgia rush was over.

What if people just give you dollars here and there as donations? What would be the best thing to do with them?

I have a local game store that I was thinking about setting up a donation box in or even spending part of my 24 hours in-store playing games from open to close (taking donations of course).

I think that would be OK . I know last year they had a system where you could actually send checks or cash in. I can't seem to locate an area where it tells you what to do if that is the case, though.

Or you could put the money in your bank account and transfer it from there. Just mark it as "Store Charity" or something.

I know that there is no minimum amount a single person has to donate. Last year I was a pretty broke college student, so I would throw $5 in every so often whenever I had a little extra.

EDIT : If you go to your donation page, on the left side under the "Donate Now" button, there is a form that you can send in with checks. I don't know if it works with cash.

@DrMunkee, thanks!

Looks like I will be setting up at Replays Gameware in Gadsden, Alabama, a local used game store. This will be where I play a good chunk of the marathon. Taking donations from passers-by and a huge game library to play from! Gotta make some flyers to put up there and a couple local colleges to try to raise money, awareness of the event and maybe get some more gamers involved!

I'm going to come up with some sort of incentive program myself...it may involve some Mountain Dew Halo Cap codes or whatever extra soda swag I got laying around. I've got a lot these days and I'd like to give some stuff away.

Sweet.

This stuff that I just put up is mostly from my PAX 2010 loot. I'm trying to find some more stuff to give out, but I have to keep size and weight in mind since I am going to ship these out myself.
