Will the PS4 use 3 of the 8 GB of ram for OS only like XB1 will? I feel that potential difference in only having 5GB (of DDR3 slower ram compared to 8GB gDDR5) would be a big difference in the long run.

I still think swiping/whatever that pad to open a map or in game inventory screens will be annoying.

Also, while XB1 is taking the hit, I'm swearing EA forced PS4 hands also with the used game $60 fee. The "Disc Benefits" tech is already there. It's just PS4 it will only be up to the publishers (EA/etc) while every other used game works, unlike XB1.

This E3 is going to be monumental in the gaming industry. Or questions will be dodged and we'll see the full **** storm closer to Nov.

It also has higher memory bandwidth. First party titles will look better from day 1 rather than after several years like the PS3. Multi-plat titles will either look better (through better textures, more AA etc) or run at higher framerates.

companys make system games run same framerate no matter the system it's on unlike pc. bf4 will run same frame rate on ps4 and x1.

If it does, the ps4 version will look better or they're leaving performance on the table. Plain and simple.

There won't be. After the shit storm Microsoft has caused, you can be sure Sony will not do the same.

Selling GRAND THEFT AUTO 5 (GTA V): Collectors Edition Pack DLC Card - Playstation PS3 for $75 OBO. Paypal, Amazon or Gamestop.

bf3 runs 30 fps on 360 and ps3. cod runs 60 fps on ps3 and 360. do i neeed to go on and on. plus msot cross platform gamers were ported on ps3 from the 360 version seeing 360 was more easy to program for.

honstly their will not be that much diff's in how game looks on ps4 then x1. games ran better most of the time on ps3 then 360 but with most big games ran same fps. the only big dif in ps4 and x1's is that ps4 uses ddr5 and x1's uses ddr 3 but that diff is not that big when you looking at the games side by side most people will not see a dif.

I actually agree with him on this one. Whatever ends up being the policy on one console, the other is sure to follow suit. I think this decision is being made at publisher level, though MS & Sony may be handling it differently.

Wouldnt Nintendo also have to be apart of blocking used games too then?

I VERY highly doubt Sony will do this after the ton of negative press Xbox has now gotten. When they announced PS4 they pretty much said they won't do anything to block used games.

As far as to why EA got rid of online passes, who knows. They are a terrible company.

I think a lot of you are forgetting that Sony has already been going after used games. Online passes have now become a mandatory with all first-party Sony games. This trend has continued on the Vita.

Microsoft doesn't do this and have chosen to go a different way.

So while EA may not enforce online passes anymore, I see Sony continuing to do so with the PS4.

The PS4's GPU is 50% more powerful. They're the same architecture, so it's an apples to apples comparison, it will be better. 1st party ps4 games will look better. Ports will look better if the developer puts in the effort.

most people in the industry that knows tech and just don't read numbers like you agree that this gen ps4/x1 will be pretty much the same unlike how more powerful ps4 was then 360 and most games did not show that other then first party. with the type of cpu/gpu used with them combined into one chip. another thing is that the ps4 has 50 percent more core speed which when it comes down to it don't matter at all.

Peter Molyneux disagrees with you. Go listen to his thoughts on the IGN Gamescoop podcast/videos, and he explains that those numbers are important.

He also mentions that all this reliance on the Cloud will also cut into the performance of the Xbox unless they have found some special way to avoid it.

And as for PS3/360, devs wont have the difficult cell structure to work with next gen, so they can utilize the better hardware easier.

Microsoft didn't use online passes on 360 because they wanted to encourage people to buy Gold.

You have no clue what you're talking about. A random forum post is not "most people in the industry."

Developers have already come out and said the PS4 version will run better. Jonathan Blow just said it recently on twitter.

http://www.gamespot....ght-now-6408781

The reason PS3 was so difficult to program for was its complex architecture. These consoles share nearly identical architecture. The only excuse a developer would have for not making the PS4 version look better is because they didn't want to or just wanted the framerate to scale higher.

IDK why you guys are even arguing over processing power; that hasn't been cool since we were ten (BLAST PROCESSING ooooooooooOOOOOOOooooooOOOoooO).

The fact of the matter is PC will still be better than both systems and the only thing I care about on either console is the exclusive games. As it stands, only Deep Down has me interested in this generation of consoles but I can count on Sony to have those good, niche games like Ni No Kuni to come along in the following years. That's what matters, not core clock speeds and other bullshit.

Technical specs are indeed fairly meaningless. It's not about what you have, it's about how you use it. And game developers are how it gets used.

The important thing to take away from the PS4's hardware isn't the particulars of the technical specs, or comparing numbers. It's about how the whole mess has been put together. The architecture is what is exciting about the PS4. The system has been designed from the ground up to be fast and easy to develop for. They focused on making it good for developers before anything else.

I am leaning forwards going Playstation next gen, obviously its all down to games so E3 should be good. But some of the ridiculous things i'm reading about the Xbox is completely turning me off getting it out of principal.

that is 100 percent true. this past gen even if ps3 was higher in tech specs then 360 but alot of 3rd party games ran better on 360. same thing can be said about pc. when it comes down to it gameplay is the most important not how a game looks.

There's nothing wrong with wanting a game to look awesome. But once again, it's what you do with it. A solid, appealing art style is far more important to the look of a game than any technical features. Some of the most enduring graphics have been produced using older technology. Kirby's Epic Yarn is still one of the most visually appealing games of the previous console cycle, despite being on the Wii.

And yes, gameplay is very important, and should be more of a priority for most developers than graphics. (and certainly graphical power) Minimal graphical design can work just fine for a game with great gameplay, (Thomas Was Alone) but a game with sub-par gameplay isn't going to be redeemed by even the most capable graphics. (throw a rock, the current generation is littered with examples of this)

I personally think this coming console generation is shaping up quite nicely for the general consumer. Each competitor has different features to lend themselves certain strengths. The real draw is going to be the custom development that is available for each. You can expect near-parity for multi-platform releases across the PC, XBox One, and PS4. But the exclusive titles are where each platform will really get a chance to shine. (and I'm including the Wii-U in the chance-to-shine equation)

If Sony were to say anything now they'd end up getting more questions about their own drm or some always on-ish features of their system which could lead to the same negative impact. SOny should be planning e3
