Superbowl XLI Thread
I figured I might as well go ahead and start the playoff thread. Sorry to steal your thunder sonic boom Guile.
Fixed.

I don't care man. If it starts more conversation I say go for it.

Garcia is really impressing me with how he has been playing. However, I don't agree with the few people who I've heard say they should start him next year over McNabb, even if McNabb is healthy.

Since my team didn't make the offs, my preferred Super Bowl matchup would be SD vs NO. Doubt it'll happen but who knows. A lot of good teams in the AFC and alot of ?? teams in the NFC should make for an interesting playoffs.

Alright cool.

And yeah, my team (Bucs) stunk it up this year and have a top 5 pick; so I am going to route for the Chiefs and ....... Seahawks. I think KC has the better shot at advancing through the AFC. Seattle just has too many questions to make it deep, but I'd like to see them or New Orleans represent the NFC in the Superbowl.

That's my pick for the Super Bowl: Chargers versus Saints. Brees against his old team.

Although I wouldnt mind my two favorite teams playing in the Super Bowl: Eagles versus Chargers. :)

Go Eagles and Chargers!

Very disapointing year for the Bucs, considering it was the same team that won the NFC South last year and seemed to improve in the offseason with their draft choices. At least this offseason their $30 million under the cap and have four early draft picks. Hopefully, they make the right decisions, especially in free agency.

As for the playoffs, I'm still rooting for the Colts to win it all, so Dungy can get his well deserved ring. In the AFC, it's a toss up between the Chargers and the Ravens to make it. The only trouble with San Diego is Philip Rivers inexpeirece and ankle, and the coaching of Marty Schotenheimer and his past playoff troubles. The Ravens look like the 2000 defense and McNair gives them the stability at QB they've always lacked. They beat SD earlier in the year, 16-13 at Baltimore. In the NFC, I'm hoping the Saints will make it, but there are too many uncertainties about every team to have a clear cut favorite.

I have the Saints going to the SB, but for some reason I can't see them playing in the cold against the Bears, but i'll take them. In the AFC, I have the Ravens.

Some 2006 Regular season award winners have been named:

AP NFL Most Valuable Player: LaDainian Tomlinson, RB Chargers
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2719845
AP NFL Comback Player of the Year: Chad Pennington, QB Jets
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2719493
AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year: Vince Young, QB Titans
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2718595
AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year: Demeco Ryans, LB Texans
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2718180

Surprised at the wide margin that LT won the MVP by, but there's no question he's the best player in the league, fantasy or reality. Nice season for Pennington, especially with the shoulder surgery and the Jets trading for Ramsey and drafting Clemens to compete at QB. Young was great, and I wonder if the Titans would've made the playoffs if he played the entire season, although I think if Colston was healthy he might've won the award.

I was hoping Jones-Drew would win, but Vince Young really did have a great season. The Titans are going to be dangerous for a while if they can get some more talent.

My Super Bowl pick:

Baltimore over Philadelphia.

How did it suck? Sure Manning had 3-int, but he was 30/38 with one TD, and played way better than Green :D. The defense stopped Johnson when everyone said he would run over them.

Yeah KC just rolled over but Colts played well. Too bad they have to go up against the Ravens which are going to win it all this year. Go Ravens. Go.

Romo didn't blow the game. Blame the Cowboys defense for giving up that easy touchdown in the 4th. Blame Terry Glenn for giftwrapping the Seahawks 2 points. I hate these people who automatically assume that if one person botches 1 play, they single handedly lost the game. The team wins the game, and the team loses it.
Did they really just show Romo crying at the end?
Of course he was crying. If you were an overrated, over praised, inexperienced, wanna-be superstar who felt destined to win everything and be a savior you'd cry at the end of the game too if you flat out choked the game away.

Romo's legacy is off to one hell of a start.

Seriously, don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel!

But they surely had of won had he held onto the ball...

While I understand (and agree the vast majority of the time) with your view, Romo pretty much did cost his team the game. The team put itself in position to win the game, and one individual ruined it for them. In this case, I have to put the blame on Romo's shoulders.
But they surely had of won had he held onto the ball...
There was still 50 seconds left on the clock, even if the kick had been good. And with the Cowboys pass defense, it would have been easy for the Seahawks to gain 40-50 yards, and set up this years best clutch kicker for a FG.

I 100% agree with both your points.

The entire team is to blame. And this is coming from a Minnesota Vikings fan, who has seen his team lose heartbreaking games in every conceivable way, yet I would never blame just one guy for any of those losses.
It was 8 since they went for the 2 point conversion.
Well, 8 points then. Even so, Romo isn't 100% to blame.

Anyone think Romo pulls a Ray Finkle after this game, and disappears forever, only to show up 10 years later as a "female" detective?

Ain't Romo's fault, their was about 1:10 left on the clock, had they made the FG, they woulda had to guard against the Seahawks O, that would scored a FG with Josh "Ice Blood" Brown.

Yes, we all know that Seattle would have surely, without a doubt, won the game on another field goal.
Yes, we all know that Seattle would have surely, without a doubt, won the game on another field goal.
Yes, because the Dallas passing defense had been so dominant in the game, and Josh Brown is one of the worst kickers in the league.

That Dallas game was the funniest shit ever.

Robo or whatever his name is will go down in football history as a loser that can't keep his hands on the ball.
As a Redskins fan, any Cowboys failure pleases me.
That being said, I still feel for Tony Romo, enemy or not. I hope the kid bounces back so we can beat him next year.
