I was just informed by a close-friend-who-happens-to-be-a-moderator that the thread of the year was just hard deleted. As in, gone forever. What's more is that it was hard deleted without Cheapy's approval (whether or not it is needed- I'm not sure).

I think I'm not alone in wanting an explanation.
 
Haha, it probably doesn't really need an explanation as to why it needed to be gone, but I would've much rather had it closed. Post-mortem cheapy anyway.

It was probably deleted since it had so much information about the guy in it that could still be accessed if it was just closed. It will live on in our hearts.

Come now. We all know why.

It was closed because people were linking to personal information. For example, saving the guy's pics to their own personal Imageshack accounts, and then uploading them.

I don't care either way, I'm just stating why it was closed.

Still a fun thread, though. A little out of hand at times, but nothing compared to some of the antics this place and other forums have showcased in the past.

I know why it was stopped. The point is it should have been simply closed, not completely deleted. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen come out of this place. It deserved thread of the year.

That's why it was deleted. Granted, the guy put too much info out there himself, but it was really getting into the "invasive of one's privacy" and "abusive" realm despite the fact the info was generally self provided, especially when his friends were involved in the info and pics. Last thing Cheapy need is a visual reminder of that thread if the kid commits suicide or something.

Besides, the kid already had his parents suing for the incident at school, who's to say she won't come after CAG when she sees all the hateful messages? Nothing may come of it, but why take that chance?

It was probably asked to be deleted by himself for fear of ruining his case. He loved the attention, even if most was negative so i doubt the private stuff really bothered him.

though I didnt really read the thread after the first picture, I am against the deletion of threads. There should at least be a reasoning for a thread being locked or gone, that way threads like this arent started.

I understand where you are coming from (there have been times I have wanted to know why certain things were removed), but anyone who saw the thread knows why it is gone. My personal feeling is that the main reason was to cover CAG's ass in case his mother got sue happy again.
 
so many good memories have come from the past few weeks. Chipped tooth, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiidge Raceeeeeeeeeeeeeeer, and giant enemy crabs. Tis a wonderful time to be a CAG.
 
Summary of thread:

Renegade_Zero says his teeth got chipped because of punk kid. Turns out he started it. Says he's going to sue people.

Lots of CAGs call him out on karma (myself included). He argues, changes his story around.

At some point he calls himself rich. Someone finds a link to another forum where he entered a contest for a free copy of Oblivion, where he states his family cannot afford it.

He posts pics, but they look photoshopped. RZ at some point invites people to check out other pics, I guess to prove his manliness or something. A few CAGs raid his myspace and other reasonable public accounts and link to pictures of him in...sexual-preference ambigueity poses.

RZ continues to dig himself deeper by arguing against naysayers.

Thread continues, ad nauseum, leading to the creation of a smiley in which teeth are missing and a large nose is appended.

A good fun read.

It was a few steps under a full...Wenzelling (was that the name of the guy from the car thread?) and not quite as extreme as it could of been, but definitely available for mod deletion.

You're right- the owner can delete a thread if they chose to do so. However, a mod did it without a reasonable explanation to the owner. Explain that.

I'm sorry, Greetard, but GuilewasNK's quotes and explanation form more than enough of a reasonable basis for a mod to take the actions they did.
Like it or not, who ever did close and delete the tread was well withing the rights that CheapyD gave them as moderators.

It may not be popular, but the reasoning for the closure is valid.

I hate logic. Especially when I can't argue against it. I admit defeat.

But...
Can we at least throw the videos and pictures back up and give credit to the people who originally found 'em? After that's done, we could lock the thread before it gets out of hand again (I think that baseball stat page was the final straw- my bad). That way at least something will be left for TOTY nominations.
 
Actually, I think the last straw was when the OP had said things were getting out of hand, and he really wasn't cool with everything any more, yet people just kept pushing for shit.

The OP may have been a dumbass, but why get his friends involved? Someone even mentioned his dead father, which is way overstepping the line, as I don't see how that would be relevant to the OP.

The OP was a dumbass, but I don't believe he deserved this kind of torture, he really did nothing wrong other then posting about himself.

Yea that WAS creepy. Most of the thread was :rofl:able and posting the myspace was funny, but going after his friends was uncalled for.

How come no one ever started a Dead of Knight = teh hotness thread or something like that?

Somebody also deleted the series of comments me and d4rkn1ght exchanged in the Uno Tournament thread and any comments anybody else made on it.

Shame because that was hilarious.

He ended up calling me a pussy because I wouldn't come to California to talk shit to him face to face even though I live across the country. :roll:

When this catches on in the mainstream, we can all say we were there. And no one will believe us or care. I say we all start grafittiing every ad we see with gap teeth so we may know CAGs have gone before us.
