So has towns gotten any better recently? I tried the demo a while back and it had a horrible interface, it was messy and awkward and just not fun to use.

But I like the concept, which makes me curious if they've had any luck cleaning it up enough to be worth playing?

Just a heads up, it doesn't seem like you can get Dota 2 card drops by using the Steam Achievement Manager. I used it to get my drops in HL2, Portal 2 and L4D2, but I've left it on Dota 2 for over 2 hours and there hasn't been a single drop. Not sure what the deal is...
Are you getting drops with the game actually running? You had to have bought something off the marketplace for Dota 2 before the card beta to be eligible for drops, otherwise you get one card drop per $9 spent in the marketplace on that game.
Ah, yes, that would explain it. I should have known that. Thanks.

Sengoku is probably the easiest of the Paradox games to learn (other than perhaps March of the Eagles), but it's very single-minded and, like you said, unpolished. If you enjoyed the basic mechanics in it, though, you'll probably like Crusader Kings 2. It almost felt like Sengoku was a beta-test for CK2, just set in a different historical time and place.

EU3 is my personal favorite; it has a little bit of everything (warfare, exploration, diplomacy, colonization), and while its engine is now 6 years old (the last expansion came out almost 3 years ago), it remains an excellent game with endless replayability. I'm still on patch 5.1 since I'm not sure I like the manpower changes introduced in 5.2, but I do agree that Paradox is awesome for patching a game that old. Vicky 2 and HoI3 are each more focused and play much differently, and they're both harder than EU3. If you love dealing with intricate detail in your strategy games, you'll enjoy them, but they take a while to learn. I still don't quite grasp everything in HoI3.
Thanks for the info.

This deal screams 'BUY ME!!!' so loud, that I'm sure we will see the Humble Frozenbyte Weekly Sale soon, maybe even on next Thursday.

Wait - when did I miss this? :(
April 12-26, 2011
They've also bundled Trine and Shadowgrounds a few times since (as bonuses to more recent HIB installments, and in a couple of IR bundles.)
Dammit!

I already got Trine 1 from Retail (not on Steam); and bought Trine 2 [base game only] a bit ago from Steam.

I am missing Trine 2: Upgrade to Complete Story Edition.

Also, I have Shadowground + Survivor LONG ago from GameStop PC App (ugh, I want it on Steam and/or DRM-FREE).

I got SG (Steam) in a giveaway, now I want the Survivor on Steam and/or DRM-FREE.

I don't like GameStop PC App and its specific OS archiving crap! It's annoying.

Thankfully, since THQ HB (took me long enough, I know!), I been really watching these HB's, Groupees, and all of them bundle-clubs.

I'll definitely keep my eyes open.

where did the Goblin Menace dlc for Trine 2 go, did they just added to the complete story version? steam page says I already own Trine 2: Complete Story but when I look at the dlc tab in the game library it says I have no dlc content for this product.

Goblin Menace DLC isn't for individual sale any longer. It's just rolled into Complete Story as one integrated game.

From the Steam page:

Trine 2: Complete Story fully integrates the Goblin Menace expansion campaign and the all-new unlockable Dwarven Caverns level into one mighty fairytale. All owners of Trine 2: Goblin Menace are automatically upgraded to the Complete Story edition.
It's not Trine 2+DLC any longer. Just Trine 2 or "Trine 2: Complete Story".

Entering the key SHOULD add it to your "library" even if it's not actively installed on your hard drive.  I'm not sure why it didn't show up for you there but the way you were expecting it to happen is what should have happened.

Make sure your library is set to "All Games" and not "Installed Games".  You can change it from the "Library" setting at the top of the Steam client screen.

Also, welcome to Steam & CAG and, while I have no idea what your rig is, you might be surprised what it can run... especially when you get to all the indie stuff.

Someone convince me not to buy Trine 2 Complete
admiral_ackbar_says_its_a_trap.jpg

LOL

I'll wait for Trine 2. I won't be playing it soon

Thanks
Same here.

I still ain't finished the original!

I played through some of it, but never finished.

I already own Trine 2 on Steam.

I want that Upgrade Edition - but I think I can wait...

Current Steam sale so screams "Upcoming HB sale" soon...

Off topic... I've been playing SS:TFE HD and SS 3 from the Humble Bundle. I'm enjoying SS: TFE a lot more than SS 3. Maybe because I'm an old gamer... and that game reminds me more of that time than SS3. Now I want the Quake Collection :)

I dunno.  Seems like in a proper HIB Trine 2 would be one of the BTA games.  But it could be a weekly for $1.  And it could get cards... arrrrgh.

Imo, Trine 2 is HIB BTA material.  I own it all, so I have no skin in the game.  Personally I'd be happy if Trine 2 was the only BTA and unhappy if it shared BTA with something I want.

I'd rather get it through Humble even if it is a BTA game (which it almost certainly will) because of the DRM-Free copy of the game. As long as I get in early with the bundle, it should cost me about the same as it would if I were to buy it on steam right now.

Unless you get in on a 3 pack...

I don't know if this is taboo to say but you guys would flip if you knew the price of the 3-pack in Ukraine...

It's like $4.60, yep, $1.50ish each.

I can see Trine 2 being the only BTA in a weekly bundle.  In a numbered bundle it would likely share BTA with something else.  (You might feel like a fool picking it up now and then wanting to BTA for another game and winding up with a 2nd copy of Trine 2).  Also there's the soundtrack factor, if that's your thing.

Not taboo at all

I have bought games off Jake Nome, he gets games from the Ukraine, I haven't seen him around much lately though

Yeah it would be nice to have the soundtrack. Generally I couldn't care less but the music of Trine 1 and 2 is amazing. Also a Frozenbyte weekly with a BTA seems likely. $1 for stuff like the Shadowgrounds and Trine 1 then BTA for Trine 2.

I suggested buying RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 through Jake Nome the other day and somebody said that Jake Nome is taking a little time off from reselling. Assuming that that is true, he's not really an option to help out at the moment.

Though after his service fee is added on, it probably wouldn't be much of a savings anyway.
