IMO, the main reason to hold back is if you're hoping Steam's Sonic Collection to go on sale (but it not properly going on sale this weekend, might be an indicator)
kinda shucks that I missed the pricing error that had everything (including Sonic Transformed+DLC) for $7.49 :/

The Trines, in my 30+ hours of experience, didn't require any precision whatsoever compared to something like SMB. They feel so heavily assisted like the characters wear Floaties or training wheels and the environment is made of pillows.
Eh, I didn't even bother with SMB; I only fired it up for the cardz. Its reputation was enough to convince me that I would hate it.

System Shock 2 is getting cards. Small preview:

That's usually how price glitches are, short.

Unless you have a decent good tolerance for failure skip it. I played a bit, stuck on the boss of the first world (haven't bashed on it too much though)

I died eight times on world 1 level 5 before getting the hang of it, at which point I just decided not to play it anymore. And I was using a 360 controller. It's frustratingly difficult and requires a lot of well-timed jumps as well as luck.

There is no luck in SMB. It's brutally difficult but it's controls are super tight and every time you die it's because you messed up. This is coming from someone who cursed more than I think I've ever cursed beating it on 360. It's the closest I've ever come to throwing a controller at my TV but it was worth it for such a great game!

Yeah, it's comments like these that led me to steer clear. The whole weird "my-protagonist-is-a-sentient-blob-of-ground-beef" thing didn't really help either.

I'm not sure you know what "luck" means! A game can still control flawlessly while the user still benefits from good luck or suffers from bad luck!

Comments like these I don't understand. I get that everybody's different and some people like their games really hard, but I don't quite comprehend how you can say you nearly smashed your TV in frustration and yet it was a great experience in the same breath. I'll tell you straight up that if something is too hard I probably won't ever play it because I don't enjoy starting games I can't finish.

Can Valve just start the sale already so we can all complain that it sucks and move on. It's so late this year. Maybe there won't be one? I gotta imagine this trading card nonsense is leading into an event.

Also, I missed TSW for $10 on Amazon. I'd like a second crack at that price.

It's like dope vs. coke -- some people like their vices free time to be unruffled and everybody else likes to play Super Meat Boy.

Warren's remark about ground beef evoked thoughts of Meatwad. Adult Swim should sue.

Ah,alright. Maybe I'm just impatient.

I just ordered DJ Max Trilogy Ultimate from Play Asia. Outside of cheap indie games or maybe a rockstar deal on DMC OR TSW, I'll be getting my bangin KPOP on. Yyyyyeaaa...?!

Guys?

It's not even late. The Summer Sale wasn't even on during this time last year.

Satisfaction in overcoming a challenge. Racing games I really like have me rerunning a track/race multiple times trying to shave a couple seconds/fractions of a second.

Well GG just started their summer sale, last year GG's lasted four weeks. I think Gaben should wait until the GG summer sale is over... So Steam summer sale in early August, less than two weeks before back-to-school. #schadenfreude

Well, DMC is $25 on GG ($20 for the chosen few). IIRC it hit $20 on GMG recently too. It's Capcom, so I'm not expecting any better for some time.

I know. I'll wait for the steam sale on DMC. I should have got the GMG deal, but I was busy acquiring Warhammer minis on ebay.

I'm playing bayonetta right now on my newish 360. SO MUCH smoother than the PS3 version.

$17.86 if you have 20% discount and use the UK wing of the site. Actually $16.something if you include the BC kickback into the discount.

Shadow Warrior Classic Redux is now available on Steam at 15% off for a limited time.

Most interestingly, instead of the standard one-week new release sale period, the store page doesn't say when this promotion will expire, which could mean that this Thursday is the day, folks.
If you like Duke Nukem 3D, then Shadow Warrior is a racist knock-off produced by the same company. The only real difference is that your character uses a sword and there's bamboo in places.

Also, the Killing Floor 6-pack is $20. Hopefully they'll start coming out with huge bundles again and we can get more group buys going. What did I host Freedom Force for? 75 cents per copy, I think?

If a game causes the frustration due to broken mechanics or shoddy controls, then fuck that game. But if the game is controlled as flawlessly as SMB, it's much more rewarding to get it right.

Just a question does retail DVD copy of "Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing (PC)" register on steam? (not transformed)

It's free after coupon, so might order to increase vpe- aka. steam games count.

Edit: It can't be registred :(

I remember reading that it will be bundled with new Shadow Warrior. So if your buying that, might want to reconsider.

Those big packs only work with co-op games that support that many players.

Weird.  When I am logged in all I see is a Like button.  When I am logged out I get to see who liked each post in the thread.  Wonder if it's supposed to work like that or bug?

This thursday has been the most likely for a few weeks already imo, just people keep getting excited about the wrong thursdays :p

Having no weeklong sales seems to support it even further ^^
Yeah, I'm not placing any bets, but I've been hearing July 11 since early June. A few excited people argue for every Thursday, but the 11th has always been the more common assumption.

Should get a clue tomorrow when Midweek Madness is announced

it started July 12 last year (if joystiq.com is to be believed). So maybe it's not late, yet?

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/12/steam-summer-sale-is-officially-on/
The internet has such a short memory!

The summer sale has traditionally started at the end of June so that it overlapped with or ended on the July 4th holiday. (Google agrees with my memory of that in 2011, 2010, and 2009.)

In 2012 the Summer Sale began July 12th. There were three weeks of anticipation and speculation about it, here and elsewhere on the internet, where some people got... rowdy.

There also wasn't a meta-game for the first time in a while. Winter 2011 had Coal, Summer 2011 had tickets, and I forget about 2010. Instead they introduced the community votes and flash deals.

I only care about the steam summer sale as an excuse to expend my card money. It can be next year if they want, GMG did the magic this time with it's great sale. I wanted Xcom... Bought from GMG. Sniper elite v2 dlcs? GMG (even with sniper elite 1 xD). And others.

The only game I still miss is Witcher 2.

Unless it starts tomorrow, my prediction of July 9th is completely wrong :)

wish I could find my post but I can't remember if I posted it before Cag 3.0 or after. :(

y u tempt me?

(the $15 of DLC is hold me back) Also check out Metacritic's 85 vs 6.4 (though mostly due to a bimodal distribution of 8-9-10 vs 0-1-2-3

It's been like that since the start of CAG 3.0. It's stupid and broken, like large parts of CAG 3.0 still are.

We should have mystery CAG cards just for the hell of it.
We can neither confirm nor deny existence of mystery CAG cards.

man, RIP ryan davis. dafuQ happened?

and damn, this is valves chance to get back in my good graces. these other summer sales have blown a dong.
