Pretty solid list. A buddy of mine and I actually made a Half-Life mod, back in the day, called Red Justice. It was pretty terrible awesome.

Apparently it's still listed at FilePlanet http://www.fileplanet.com/78158/0/0/0/1/section/Mod_Files

We were even a Featured Mod on Planet Half-life back in 2006! http://planethalflife.gamespy.com/View.php?view=HLMotw.Detail&id=113

:twoguns:

So much Half-Life nostalgia. I had invested hundreds of hours in finding and playing the latest and greatest mods on that bad boy. Also, spent way too much time playing the original NS back in college.

Cheapest it's been as far as I recall. I still need to play it, actually wait. I need to play through the original first, lol. I actually have the original on CD (given to me as a gift from a person who was getting rid of old games).
there's a high res texture mod for the original fyi

Looked at my wishlist today and noticed some price drops. Far Cry 3 is now $40 and Sniper Elite V2 is now $30. Can't wait for the sale to bring these down even more.

Awe yeah, Twin Peaks. I love you?

Yes you do. Not as much as I love TP's female-cast though... for their thespian prowess.

Looks like DOTA 2 is finally out of Beta.
Hurrah! No more beta invites cluttering my inventory!

I've heard bad things on the message boards about evil mods banning people a lot, but what should I really expect from the mods and rule breaking?
What Hal said. Busy game with a steep learning curve and a really nasty, abusive, and unpleasant community. Play Awesomenauts instead.

I had bought Alice Madness Returns during the last sale when it was $5, and had bought a PS3 copy even before that. I've always been a fan of American McGee games, Alice in Wonderland, and just demented games in general. I like to play games where nice landscapes are twisted and distorted, and American McGee does a great job at it.

For those curious there is some DLC for Madness but it isn't in the store. All you have to do is go into the files and enable the DLC though. Just some costumes and weapons, nothing too spectacular.

If you have a digital copy of the original American McGee's Alice then you can also link them together so you can launch it through Madness Returns if you are inclined to.

It is a bit buggy on PC(better on PS3 and 360) but it is much better than plenty of other games. It gets my recommendation.

For anyone interested in Dota 2:

- Ignore the chat while you're learning the game. ARTSs have really shitty community but the game is good. But don't worry, once you get used to it you'll be part of the shitty community in no time.

I disagree, partially of course, the first doctor was just pure awesome!

I thought you didn't watch TV or even own one? :whistle2:k
quoting this so i can find it later :)

edit:

Also if you have a PS3, Alice: Madness Returns is on sale this week for $4 if you have PS+ and it has Alice 1 included.

Re: Dota 2.  There's a tutorial now that progresses you through a few 'missions' and later bot matches.  Just don't jump right into live games of players vs. players.  Play some offline/bot matches then when you're comfortable progress to player vs. bot, etc.

So, are boosters worthless now? Apparently I got a SMB booster pack but they're only selling for $1.91 and there are TONS. Should I just open them and hope for a foil?

Check what the individual cards are selling for. My personal rule of thumb is if the booster sells for 10 cents or more than 3 individual cards sell the booster, otherwise try for the foil

This. The math is pretty self-explanatory. Boosters are only worth what the game's cards are worth plus the extremely remote chance at a foil. Haven't checked recently but I'm sure Super Meat Boy (being a popular game that has been bundled) has cards around thirty cents and foils not much more than two bucks.

When did you get in on boosters? I thought they've always been worth just barely over the individual cards. I snagged a bunch for ARES at only $1.10 a week ago. If anything, they seem to be climbing again as they're dropping less.

they are actually still hovering around $.50 some higher, which is annoying because that was one badge I wanted to actually craft. Now I'm just hoping for a booster to finish the set...

Speaking of Super Meat Boy. Remember when I said that the market for those cards was gonna absolutely collapse due to the game being in HiB4, and because a ton of people bought multiple copies of that bundle for coal farming with alternate accounts during the 2011 holiday sale? Yeah...never mind about that.

I thought they would too, but you have to have made a purchase on your Steam account to be able to sell/trade them, with the last purchase being greater than 30 days ago. So everyone who made multiple accounts for coal farming can still farm the cards, but they're unable to do anything with them right now. Of course they can just buy cheap sale stuff, especially with the Summer Sale tomorrow...maybe we should expect them to be worthless in August.

History is malleable.

Eh, you're too young to have grown up watching them, even though we're on the wrong side of the pond for it. It's easy for folks who've only seen a few of the old serials and all of the new series episodes to criticize the original series as low-budget and cheesy, but like most everything it's a mix. Some of the old serials were outstanding adventures, some were explorations of interesting ideas of the sort that that other science fiction show didn't have the imagination to handle, and some were just dreadful. If you haven't seen the shows that were made in the 1970s and 1980s, you missed the Third through Seventh Doctor stories and that covers a LOT of territory.

Also, the first episode of the serial that was later known as "An Unearthly Child" is the best introduction to any science fiction series in the history of television (sadly, it goes downhill dramatically when the cavemen come into the picture, but damn was that first show great!).
Didn't say I didn't like them and didn't have fun watching them, but they're really low budget and a lot of them are really badly done. Some of the stories are solid, true, but it really still did feel like quantity over quality. And you're obviously older than me, but I don't think you're quite old enough to have "grown up watching them" back when they were new either. ;) We both came into the old series late...

One of these days I'll watch the newer older ones, though. I've heard good things about them.

MrNinjaSquirrel... prepare yourself... you should have 10 days food, drinks, and caffeine pills on hand.  ...and vodka, lots of vodka.  Without wikis in CAG 3.0*, you're going to have to take full responsibility for keeping the OP up-to-date.  ...otherwise there will be popular support for a military moderator coup.

Why not just buy the individual cards?
because then I would have to actually pay something for them

How does one take bathroom breaks during a Steam sale? Depends.

The chart for SMB's booster was around 3, then rose for like 3 days and dropped for less than 2 (what it is now) so it doesn't show this trend. I was never particularly interested in the boosters but whenever I used to check (not for all games mind you) they used to be in the $3+, hence the comment (I could be highly biased tho).

Either way I sold mine for $1.90 because I really just want to stock up on extra dollars for the sale (hoping it'll be good...)

Bought a couple of Mystery Cards this morning. Some idiot posted several of them at $0.37 a piece and I managed to grab two. Shouldn't bee too hard to break even on the deal once the cards are revealed to be worthless tomorrow. And if not...well, I'm only out $0.74.

I must say though, I'm more intrigued with what sort of wrinkle steam might have in store for us with the coming sale than I am over the prospects of buying any games.

Aw! I was saving those to build a virtual fort...

You can have my Super Monday Night Combat passes. Build a shit pyramid. Go nuts.

I like to have fun more than I like to have 10 cents (10-20 cents, just 1 pack, not in large quantities).

After fees:

Pack is worth $2.00 -- 3 card pack, commons are worth $0.62 -- worst case scenario: $1.86 (-$0.14)

That buys me 3 longshots to pull a card(s)* worth 5x a common or more. It's fun; I Ioved doing this as a kid.

I would only sweat the $0.14 if I were moving bricks like Escobar or Rick Ross (not the rapper). I'm not a power seller.

*Has anyone pulled multiple foils *from a single pack?

... that isn't entirely correct.

They can still trade the cards to other accounts and sell them there. I traded my TF2 cards from my idle accounts to my main account without issue, despite not being able to use my 17 cents to buy anything in the market.

... if your asshole is sewn shut and they keep feeding you and feeding you and feeding you new 75% discounts.

How is the delivery guy supposed to get food through a second floor bathroom window?

Let that asshole figure it out.

If he can't think of something in less than 30 minutes (including the drive), you just claim your free pizza as usual.

Oooh, free slurpee day.  I'll feel a little guilty since I'm friendly with the 7-11 owner, but he'll understand me not buying anything that time... or every time I go to red box... or every time I go pick up my Amazon packages... or every time I go shoplift ...

Hope my mobile app works tomorrow for purchasing. Had my ACL reconstruction surgery yesterday and can't even get out of bed, let alone make it upstairs to my pc.

Why is it that when it takes a herculean effort just to get out of bed I have to pee every 30 minutes?
