Free Stuff - Needs Updating

There are quite a few free and free2play games and mods on steam. You can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Dark Void and Dark Void Zero are also 75% off. Not sure if they're any good though. I guess you could do worse than $2.49 and $1.25 each.

If you plan on buying Dark Void Zero, keep in mind it uses securom (20 activation limit). The activations can be revoked using this method:

Remember (in steam) to go to properties/set launch options, and add "/revoke", then run it before uninstalling, so as not to lose an activation. Would be really nice if that kind of thing was a lot clearer/done automatically...

Wow this Focus bundle kinda sucks, wheres Magrunner and Mars War shit Logs. Only decent game in here is Divinity and thats it. Now to see if Onimusha 3 is worth 5 bux or not.
For what it's worth, I'm 2/3 of the way through War Logs and have found it to be a really enjoyable game. It lacks polish in places, but most of the games I play tend to have rough edges. It has a neat setting and is a largely competent CRPG, and it's mercifully short for a game of the genre.

The game itself isn't as old as it appears -- it was just designed 'retro.'  But, yeah, it's inexplicably why they slap extra DRM on budget titles.

Why does Capcom do most of the things it does?
I'm betting that's a rhetorical question w/ no answer...

b/c who the hell knows why Capcom does what it does!

From Securom and other horrible DRM to using G4WL - I can only say, "God knows (why Capcom does what it does)."

Apparently Dark Void has the same 20 activation limit securom as Dark Void Zero. Didn't realize it at first, since there was no notification with enhanced steam..

Any other thoughts on this one? I own none of these except CKII

Fairy Bloom Freesia is great, a bit like Smash Brothers against a dozen enemies at once. Ether Vapor Remaster is a solid shmup, I liked it even though I've never been good at those. RefleX will hopefully one day be Greenlit out of the Greendark and into the Greenland so I won't have to make a Desura account.

Owning CKII takes away a lot of the value, but that's still a lot of games for five bucks. I bought it primarily for Gorky 17 and Two Worlds 2, which includes the DLC, so that's a plus. From what I've read about the others, they're nothing special, but nothing horrid, either. If you like shmup type games, Satazius and Ether Vapor Remastered are in there. I say it's totally worth it, especially since 4 more games have yet to unlock. Maybe one of them will be half decent, you never know.

I own Satazius, Fairy Bloom Freesia, Knights of Pen and Paper, and Ether Vapor Remaster

I would recommend Fairy Bloom Freesia to anyone

If you are a D&D/Tabletop gamer, Knights of Pen and Paper is fun (I paid more than the bundle for the deluxe edition)

If you like shumps, you probably already have Satazius and Ether Vapor Remaster.

If you wait it out and get in a group buy during happy hour, it might be worth it if you already own Crusader Kings II.

Going to have a hard time talking myself out of Early Accessing SNOW.

It has been almost 10 years since I have played a winter sports game that was enjoyable.  Guess that sets a poor precedent for this one being any good though.

Unrelated: Got my Mafia 2 key from Greenman.  I hereby revoke my previous criticisms.  GMG über alles.

Dark Void is a pretty bad game so I'd suggest avoiding it. Dark Void Zero is supposed to be fun though, but I haven't played it yet.

I really enjoyed Fairy Bloom Freesia and would definitely recommend it. Like someone already said it's sorta like Smash Bros, but with a lot more depth to the upgrade and fighting systems. It also has a lot of replay value with NewGame+ and multiple difficulties, and all around it's just a really fun lighthearted game that is great for 15 minutes or several hours. It's already been in one bundle, but if you or anyone missed it I'd say it's worth the Happy Hour price by itself, let alone with everything else in the bundle ^_^

Fairy Bloom Freesia looks like Elsword without being an MMO. Would be perfect if there was a mod that let you use Street Fighter characters.

I'll take Mafia II for -$49.99 if you're still paying, CLAF. ;)

Also, to those that voted GTAV for GOTY... fuck you. Get your heads out of your "zmg lulz ima crimnl" asses. Bioshock Infinite is about 203,402 times better.

Is it possible that GTA V is just too...

Ah, fcuk it, it's much easier to merely say you're salty and move on...

Hm. A few questions. . .

and a back on topic one: are any of the Lost Planet games on the Capcom sale worthwhile? I haven't heard much in the way of good things about the series in general on PC.

"Hi, everybody!" "Hi, Dr. Abe!"

Hey guys

Lost Planet sucks

REGULATE

Focus Home probably best $1 tier ever.

RE Capcom sale: So Resident Evil 4 isn't on Steam I see (or any digital distribution platform I could find) :whistle2:( That's about the only thing I could see myself buying from this sale, as I've never played an RE game and was looking to start with 4 (though I hear the PC version isn't very good, so maybe I'd be better served getting it on one of the other dozen platforms it's on).

This is one of those situations in which pirating is the only way. At least 69/100 ways.

I recall skeeting for the first time when I played RE4 on GCN for the second time.

Lazy bitch.

I recently bought RE4 retail (PC) and played it with a gamepad and can't say there's all that much difference from a consolized version. (Hadn't played it since my PS2 days.) I had a couple mods installed which caused me some problems (mainly the text mod intermittently crashed the game), but aside from that, I'd get it for whatever platform is the cheapest for you.

I bet RE4 looks sick as fuck with SweetFX.

I think the hidden gem in this sale is Onimusha 3: Demon Siege. I don't think it's been lower than $10 before today, so this is the lowest it's ever been.

The port being good or not however is a different story.. I don't know how many issues it has.

Smells like that could be possible backlog material for some gamers.

Smells like what?

I was reading Metacritic and people were saying they loved the game, but the PC controls are terrible.

Metacritic user reviews  (lol)

I've always done it. Though, I either pause an existing DL prior to playing and/or start it afterwards.

This has been happening to me for at least a year. Really affects my connection speeds when playing multiplayer, so put a sock on it with all the popping your butt-cheeriness.

Capcom is having a sale? Let me guess: most of the games are higher priced than their console brethren. Yep.

I added Steam to AMD Quickstream yesterday. Seems like more than a coincidence now that I think of it.

Perhaps you could try that or another program to set Steam's priority to low rather than high.

Last of Us
I didn't get to play Last of us (don't have a Playstation), so far my pick for GOTY would be Infinite. I haven't gotten to play GTAV, either, but GTA games have never been my cup of tea. I find them terribly overrated as a whole.

Edit: Speaking of Infinite, Holy crap can I not wait until the DLC is released. That looks like it has the potential to be incredible.

You could spend all weekend mooching over the perennially unimpressive Capcom deals. Yes you could. You really could.

OR
[/Mind Link Wacky Font]

You could just watch Misfits.

Disclaimer - as with all cool things, I'm four years late. But it's really, really good. Much better than 66% off Resident Evil 6.

Bionic Commando for 2.49 could be a good deal, not sure if the game is that good.

IGN criticizes it for having screen tearing on the PC version. Have they not heard of vsync before?

Oh, apparently there is no Vsync setting in the game.
