I don't like this, I generally don't sell the keys for games I already have or duplicates, but damn, I can't even gift them to friends? I gifted a lot of my keys before, I want to do that more, that is a pretty stupid thing IMO.
You aren't supposed to give them away anyways. It's against their ToS. If you buy the game, it is only for your use only. People were obviously abusing the feature and giving games to their friends.

posted the twitter link that way because I didn't want it to embed the card in my post

Well guys, I still think is stupid, and I still think is stupid to make games I've bought with money simply disappear because I already have them, I was of the type who bought all humble bundles early by more than a 1$ even if I already had the games, now i'm gonna wait and see what they add the second week.

They stated a fixed BTA price because that would bring newer and better games, last BTA games sucked compared to other bundles.  IDK I really don't like this new way of making me doing something, instead of giving me options.  For me it's ok to ban the selling of this bundle games, but giving them away to friends? Still stupid, even if it's in their TOS.

They have a new blog post up now describing the new Steam linking system. They basically say it will A) make it easier to put in a bunch of keys at once, and B) cut down on key reselling, which they state has the benefit of letting them get newer and bigger games. Whether or not that turns out to be true, who knows, but at least there's a stated rationale.
Humble 2k Bundle and Humble Bethesda Bundle incoming, my futuristic posts are coming true.

Unfortunately, it looks like their new policy will put Sunasun DVG Steam Key Sales out of business. :(

yea bta is crap bta no offense people either have it for cheap or dont want bta bonus only craps sorry i agree it bulllshit they prove how much shit they have in their mouth i cant give to friends that nnice to know screw u humblle kiss my ass

Hmm well I'd be a little more upset about account linking if they didn't have that yummy $1 tier. I like giving away the occasional key, but I can appreciate them not wanting to turn their sales into a black market for Steam.

Think this is the end of Humble Bundle for me. Between stuff like this, bitcoions, Pewdiepie, and awful picks, I am thinking their time in the sun is over. I will laugh if this bits them in the ass and they go out of business in a few months from now.

So you're all for getting less for the same amount? Nice. I was going to sell you my English textbook seeing as you could use it, but now I think I'll just allow you to borrow it for the same price under the condition that I get to read it for you. Also, you can't loan it to anyone, and you can't open it yourself.
This isn't really less when compared to bundles that were single keys. Indeed, this may be better if someone can unlink one account and then link a different one.

Wouldn't surprise me if the AAA publishers pushed for it.
And some indie publishers, I'd guess. Though I'm not sure it's so much pushing for it as it was complaining about tons of spare keys on the secondary market and wondering if that could somehow be stopped. If that's the case, I wouldn't be shocked to see other places do something similar. Amazon, say.

You'd think if their argument is that account linking makes it easier to bring premium games to HB they'd wait and do it on a week that didn't ask you to spend an extra $5 on Alien Breed and a Worms game...

I have most of these from a previous bundle that had Team 17 games. Still need the first Alien Breed, but not worth it for $6 when I have most of the rest. Oh well.

Just bought it. Didn't experience any problems. Once you log in for the first time and link the first game, all you have to do is click on the rest. It will then open up a tab for each one that you pressed with your profile on each one. Once you are finished, go to your steam client and go under "Account Details" and you will see each one activated under "retail". It might take a minute for it to refresh in your library. Hope this helps.

I had an issue. After I linked my Steam account, Bad Rats and Horrid Henry magically appeared in my Steam library..

I don't trust these Humble guys.

I usually a lurker here (not a key grabbing one) but I feel the need to put my 2 cents in.

To me this new system sucks but if it means I don't have 5 games that I don't want permenently on my steam account for 2 that I do (single key system) then I will deal with it.

The games are still cheap and still doing somethng good with my $.

i disagree if it one key for each tier it okay but for a key a piece huge difference because if i havee it and want to give friend then it hurts me now onee key for each tier i could live if i dont bta

The problem is not with you or me giving keys to friends even if we aren't supposed to, we still do BUT look on ebay and tell me there isn't a problem.

I can get in the trades section of cag and get a game at it's proper value (based on the bundle) but if you look elsewhere you have people profitting from keys they payed literally nothing for. I am all for being in control of my own keys and sharing but people have abused the system and unfortunately now we have to pay for it.

no problee with single keey a tier cause usually unless it good price i usuallly dont give it away cause 6 bucks is pricey for bt6 so yea one key is fine but multiplie keys not reallly good

I think bundling all the games on the $1 tier or the BTA tier into a single Steam key was a much better solution. This doesn't seem good at all to me.

I personally don't care if games get wasted with a single Steam key (I mean really Steam should give you gift copies if you already own it) but I just don't like the idea of account linking in general, especially how the current system has worked this whole time.

I'm personally a fan of the linking. It's all handled on Steam's servers, so I don't have any privacy concerns, and clicking one button on Humble's site to redeem a key is way easier than pressing a button, copying the key, opening Steam, selecting Add a Game, entering the key, and going through about three pages of dialog boxes.

Plus, now I can redeem HB games while at work instead of waiting until I get home and can open up the client.

+1

I also like the new linking process. It's certainly faster than cut and pasting individual keys over from the Humble page. There are already a lot of sites that link to Steam with what I'd assume is similar functionality, so another one that actually saves time is fine.

The new system is so great, my friends.

Now, you can ask your friends and family for their Steam username and passwords in order to give them games you used to have to copy and paste a key for.  It's so reasonable and secure.

Oh, but wait, you better not, because giving extra keys away violates the totally reasonable Humble Bundle terms of service.

If you disagree with their terms of service, you might want to see whether you *hate* charity.  You don't *hate* charity, do you?

Remember, questioning the Humble terms of service means you must be filled with *hate,* and that would be unfortunate.

So, don't be selfish, and buy more Humble bundles *right now*.

It's actually the Steam ToS, there's a reason why all bundles have the same clause of "all keys are for your personal use only"

I guess I could live with the new system if they actually allowed you to gift any extra games. It could be an option next to redeem, click gift fill out email address and send. Then they could send an email that had a disclaimer "this is a free gift if you paid money for it blah blah blah" ... as it stands now there's no way I'm paying for the $6 tier when I already own Alien Breed 1-3 ... for now the humble tip slides to the left, there has to be a better solution. I hate 'losing' my keys ...

Won't happen. If you want to gift keys, but a gift bundle. I don't see them changing this at all.

Largely as they've had it set up so you don't get duplicates since about the beginning. It was only with HiB 6 or 7 that they went with individual keys. Before that bundles used single keys for each tier. They moved away from that for a time, but had been going back to single keys at least for the weekly bundles over the past few months.

Yeah this too. I am totally ok with this new humble key registering thing. Hopefully it clears out the trade forum of the same recycled shit and we get more people like jake nome with real deals rather then people trying to sell off bundle fodder

Dammit, If I can't do dis, how am I going to sell my Bad Rats keys for $5 a crack?!?! Think of the children!

I get that they don't want aholes abusing the system, but they lose far more money from me when it's this way. I'll usually grab the $6/bta tier, even if I have the other crap (because I could give it to someone), and then grab a couple more $1 gifts ... that usually never wind up being gifted  but anyway ... this way I barely even buy anything.

Its called Capitalism. People have a right to sell whatever they want. Nobody has abused anything. Its just the world we live in promotes of re selling things at a higher price. Buy low sell high.

How is it not abuse to break ToS?
Its the capitalistic way. HB just wants to impede the nature of capitalism. There is nothing wrong with re selling of keys gotten at a lower price then sell them higher on ebay. That ToS was not going to stop people from what they do best. People saw an opportunity to make some easy cash and took the advantage.

This is why we can't have nice things

Standing in the way of resellers is a move that helps the businesses of Steam, developers, publishers, and Humble. You think companies doing what is in their best interests is anti-capitalist? You must be joking.
