[Coming Soon] The Humble: WB Games Bundle (Updated)
NOVEMBER 5 - HNIC
$1 minimum for:

- F.E.A.R. 2
- F.3.A.R
- LotR: War in the North
- Batman: Arkham Aslyum GotY

Beat the Average & also get:

- Batman: Arkham City GotY
- Scribblenauts Unlimited

The bundle is not up yet (it's not a weekly, so it's probably going to go live tomorrow)

Steam for everything, but it's likely to be using the new "dump straight into your Steam account, no way to share duplicate keys" system.

One charity choice: DC's We Can Be Heroes campaign

Can someone explain to me what the hubbub is about the new process?

Is it because you can't break up your bundle when you used to be able to?
I really hate to be one of those people as well, lol, but I've sifted through the previous pages and still have no clue how things have changed. Can anyone shed some light? If it is what @confoosious said, I guess I'm not as bothered since the keys were bundled before.

And, sadly, I only want Scribblenauts from this bundle...(still a great deal, though).

As of the current weekly deal last Thursday the game redemption system changed so that you have to connect your Steam account to your Humble account and give it permission to redeem your games for you. Now when you buy a bundle instead of copying and pasting the key into Steam you click a button and the game automatically shows up in your library. People got angry because it meant they couldn't give away keys for games they didn't want or already had. This morning Humble added the ability to send the games as gifts so it's once again possible to share the ones that buyers don't redeem for themselves.

Thank you. Lol, that is a bit more restrictive after all. Guess this is to thwart reselling. I can't entirely blame them, though, because some people abused the hell out of it.

@louiedog - so what's the problem? Can't resell?

Thanks for the explanation by the way.
That was the problem, but it was cleared up this morning. Some people are still unhappy about things like needing to connect their Steam account, but for the most part I think everyone is happy. I'm sure key resellers would rather have the bare Steam keys though.

I like it better because it's a lot easier and faster to add all of my games from a new bundle.

If I gift a game via steam, does the recipient see my name or account details?

I prefer to drop things anonymously.

You don't do it through Steam you send a link to a bundle page with whichever game you are gifting, to their email address. I suppose you could just send it to your own email and then drop the link, but that could lead to problems potentially. I don't believe it would show anyone your account details, if anything it would only be your name.

If you gift something direct through Steam then it simply says "so and so has sent you a gift copy" plus whatever message you add. Hopefully that made some sense...

I don't see why resellers can't just send the gift links, I've given away a couple aready and had no problems.

They can, but this gets more of their buyers signed up for Humble accounts and receiving the Humble newsletters and may chip away at their business. I'm not thinking about places like CAG, but more along the lines of eBay sales.

Still have a copy of fear 2 for whoever wants it

On a side note, I wonder if they'll surprise everyone with bonuses next week. Have there been any other humble's that didn't have bonuses? I would still really like to begin my LEGO game collection on steam.

Every non-weekly bunsle has had bonuses added in the second week.

That would be me.

Edit:

Thanks a ton Taylort3!

With FEAR 2 this leaves FEAR 3 as the only one I'm missing so as awesome of a deal as it is, I'll be content skipping it for now.

Okay, despite my previous bitching about Scribblenauts, I will tip my hat to HB for two reasons:

1) Even though I own everything in this bundle except for the F.E.A.R. sequels, it's a damn good value. It's worth the $4+ change just for War in the North, let alone either one of the Batman games. Plus if this is like most other Humbles, there will probably be bonus games announced next week. In fact, this thing is an epic value.

2) With the return of gifting, it satisfies the complaints that I and others had about extra keys. Sure, I'd like to sell the odd key or two for $0.50 or $1, but that rarely happens anyway (and there's always Groupees if I really have a burning desire to do so). However, the ability to gift individual keys is pretty much just as good as having the actual key, and it ameliorates the dev's concern about having a lot of "grey market," super cheap keys floating around the interwebz. Looks like a win-win.

I didn't even think of it that. That is actually a pretty smart business decision.

The new system blows tried to give a game away to a friend but it activated on my account. >.>
Honestly I'm not sure how it means the new system blows if you clicked the wrong button. It's pretty simple - just click on the gift button (looks like a present) and it gives you a URL. It's simple, and it works well.

The only real problem I have with the system is on the Steam end of things.  It seems like any time I have to access Steam with a web browser it keeps asking me to verify who I am via e-mail.  I wish it would find the client on the machine so that it wouldn't go through that...

Are you by chance clearing your cookies a ton? The only reason it should do that more than once is if it doesn't recognize your browser or computer, but that's typically only happened to me after I've cleared my cookies/cache so you just need to save the ones from Steam if you feel the need to blow everything out and don't want to have to keep entering the code.

Or you could disable Steam Guard, but that's not something I would in any way recommend....

My hero! The only sad part is that it's probably a one-click redeem for all of each key, meaning no gifting of tables we already own.

Very happy I only bought the one table (Epic Quest) back when they are were on sale. I might be in for the whole bundle for once, though I have Star Wars on PS3 and wasn't particularly thrilled with it. How are the marvel packs? (yes I know I could just go try them, but who has time for that)

Hope you don't get motion sickness.

:puke:
Man, that fucking Rift - I could only stand it for about a minute or two. It's been sitting in its little black case next to my desk ever since. If this is the future of "virtual reality", count me out.

That's crazy. I'll cover the shipping, where should I send you my address?

The Avengers pack is better than the Original pack. Both are great, but Avengers has two of my favorite tables. They're not slipping anyone the weak stuff on that BTA tier at all.
